Egg Whites For Breakfast

Celeste enjoys a turkey bacon and vegetable egg white omelet for breakfast, or oatmeal with flaxseed and fruit. "While cholesterol may be the most scientifically studied nutrient in eggs, it certainly isn't the only one of importance," says Diane Welland, MS, RD. "Eggs are well-known for their high-quality protein, which is highly digestible, concentrated—one large egg contains 6 g—and perfectly balanced with the right amount of amino acids for human growth and development. And although most of the protein is located in the white (3.6 g), a considerable amount (2.7 g) is in the yolk. Consuming high-protein foods such as eggs is particularly important for older adults because it can help stave off muscle loss and reduce the rate of protein breakdown. The fact that eggs are inexpensive and low in calories is another bonus, making them a popular choice for budget-conscious consumers and families with children."

Protein Shake For Lunch

Lunch for Celeste usually consists of a protein shake or salad with protein and almonds. "Almonds are a nutritious fat source and excellent additions to your diet," says Brad Dieter, PhD. "They pack a pretty heavy micronutrient punch compared to other, more processed fat sources, and may help lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol. They can also be an excellent source of fiber in the diet. Almonds are portable and generally non-perishable, which makes them good on-the-go snacks. However, almonds can be very calorie-dense, so consuming them in moderation is essential."

Sweet Potato For Dinner

A typical dinner for Celeste is usually healthy protein with a baked sweet potato. "Sweet potatoes are high in fiber, which has been shown to promote a healthy digestive system," says registered nutritionist Nicola Shubrook. "Much of the research so far has been conducted on animals, but it would appear that high levels of plant sterols (phytosterols) in sweet potatoes may have a protective effect on the digestive system and may be useful in the prevention and management of duodenal and gastric ulcers, including those due to NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen)."

Morning Workouts

Celeste likes to work out first thing. "I usually prefer to work out in the mornings, it gives me energy throughout the day," she says. "I work out between 3 and 5 times a week.  I like to change up my routines so that I don't get bored. I love kickboxing, light- weights and high reps. Pilates is amazing. I would like to get more into Yoga, I know it's very calming which would be nice since I have such high energy!"

No Crash Diets

Celeste touts the benefits of a balanced, sensible diet. "Life is all about balance," she says. "No crash diets, no extremes, good and healthy food choices during the week mixed with Hard HIT workouts and some zen yoga sessions! Find that balance you will be golden! 🌞Ps, I had a 4 slices of pizza yesterday for my cheat meal. 🍕🍕 Balance my friends! Have a great week!"
