1. Her Workouts Consist of Large, Whole-Body Movements

Sofia-VergaraSofia Vergara/Instagram

Vergara’s personal trainer, Gunnar Perterson, broke down the actress’ workout to Shape. Peterson says that he likes to do a lot of large movements with Vergara, as opposed to smaller isolated movements. “If we're going to do a lunge, we're probably going to add an upper body component to it, like a lunge with a wood chop, a side lunge with a wood chop, or a rear lunge with a
lateral raise, or a forward lunge with a front raise."

2. She Loves Pilates

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Vergara tells Glamour that she is a big fan of doing Pilates workouts, and tries to squeeze in a session as often as she can. “My go-to workout is a Pilates workout on the Lagree Fitness Megaformer machine,” she says. Pilates works. “Pilates mat exercises contributed to increase in the strength and endurance of core muscles in post delivered women and even improve the fitness of women by improvement in cardiorespiratory fitness and decrease in the girth measurements,” one study found.

3. She Goes To Spin Classes

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

In addition to Pilates, Vergara also loves to go to spin classes regularly. Vergara says that the classes are her regular cardio. She says to Glamour, “I also mix in spinning classes for cardio a couple of times per week.” One study found that indoor cycling combined with a healthy diet was beneficial. “According to the results, the indoor cycling and the low-calorie diet helped fight overweight and control serum lipids.”

4. She Takes A Break From Working Out

Amy Sussman/Wireimage

Vergara’s trainer, Jennifer Yates, tells Marie Claire, that she makes sure that the actress takes a few days off from working out. Yates says, "It's fine to give yourself a break—your body comes back stronger. You have to let your body rest, even if you're working out a few days during the week. That's why we rotate with Sofía. We have days in between when she rests. If you exhaust the muscles, you're more prone to getting injured."

5. She Believes In Moderation

Vergara is a big fan of moderation when it comes to her diet. "We have a lot of healthy things, but we keep a balance," she says to SELF. "I do have a lot of fruits and vegetables, and we cook fresh meats. But I also have ice cream and dessert and we do that during the weekend. I try to control myself during the week." “Is it a challenge for you to eat all five servings of fruits and vegetables every day? The 1-2-3 approach can help you pack in all your servings — and more — throughout the day,” says the Mayo Clinic. “Get six servings by eating:

  • 1 serving with breakfast
  • 2 with lunch
  • 3 with dinner and snacks.”

Vergara has impeccable skin, and she makes sure to take care of it. She tells WhoWhatWear.com that she doesn’t use a lot of products on her skin, especially since she has sensitive skin. “I've developed rosacea. I've been struggling with that for six or seven years. It's hard because I get really red, so I've realized that I've had to treat my skin like sensitive skin, where I didn't before. I used to love products and would try anything. You name it—you tell me to put cement under my eyes, and I'd try it. But unfortunately, now all the fun is gone for me. I can't really wear rich moisturizers or rich oils. Now I have to keep it simple.”

3. She Makes Active Choices To Help Her Skin

In addition to what products she uses, Vergara also makes a lot of choices to help keep her skin clear. She tells WhoWhatWear.com, “I'm very religious about taking my makeup off every night. No sun. Take your makeup off.”

1. She Keeps It Simple With Skincare

Vergara has incredible skin, and has been a spokeswoman for several different beauty products. She has to take care of her skin, but that doesn’t mean having a complex routine or using a ton of products. “I used to do masks and scrubs and rubs and things—I mean, I’m crazy about products—but I’ve had to simplify as I’ve gotten older,” she said to Health. “I have rosacea—it’s redness and sensitivity. If you put on too much stuff, there is irritation, so I have to keep it very simple.”

2. She Doesn’t Obsess Over Her Diet

However, she decided to just live her life and not worry about what she’s eating. ‘For a while, I got really crazy about what I was eating. But then you realize you can't live like that. You go to restaurants, and you have to eat something. You have to live your life. And no one really knows exactly how people get cancer.”

3. She Lives Her Life

Vergara tells Health that her cancer battle has taught her to not worry about what will happen in the future. She says that she lives her life, and doesn’t worry about what’ll happen the next day. “When you go through something like this, it's hard, but you learn a lot from it. Your priorities change. You don't sweat the small stuff. And it had a good ending.”

4. She Makes A Healthy Breakfast For The Next Day

Vergara’s trainer, Jennifer Yates, revealed some of the actress’ fitness secrets to Marie Claire. Yates says that Vergara does a lot of squats and leg workouts. "I had to work with her form at the beginning, because when you squat, you want your knees to push back over your ankles. I really want to protect her knees, so I put a bench behind her and wrap a resistance band around her quadriceps. She'll sit down into the chair and comes back up, squeezing her glut muscles as she comes up. You can do it without the bands, but even just sitting down in a chair and coming back up is great, it really engages your abdominals. If you do 25 of those, it's a great way to start gaining strength."

1. She Exercises

If you want a body like Sofía's, you are going to have to sweat for it. She revealed to Women’s Health that she exercises three or four times a week with a trainer. She also does at-home workouts, thanks to her husband, Joe Manganiello. “Joe built a very nice gym in the house, so I don't have any excuses," she said. "Finding time to exercise can be a challenge. To make it easier, schedule time to exercise as you would any other appointment. Plan to watch your favorite show while walking on the treadmill, read while riding a stationary bike, or take a break to go on a walk at work," says the Mayo Clinic.

2. She Does Megaformer Workouts

2022 Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards - ArrivalsFrazer Harrison/Getty Images

Sofía is a big fan of Megaformer workouts. She describes the piece of equipment as “an advanced Pilates machine" combining cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility, she told Women’s Health. "The abdominal, hip and back muscles are often collectively referred to as the body’s core. Pilates exercises are designed to strengthen this core by developing pelvic stability and abdominal control. In addition, the exercises improve flexibility and joint mobility and build strength," says the Mayo Clinic.

3. She Forces Herself to Exercise

Some stars love exercising, but not Sofía. She explains that her husband loves breaking a sweat, but "it's like torture” for her. "I'm in a bad mood two hours before, I'm in a bad mood while I'm doing it, I'm in a bad mood at the end because I have to schedule the next class," she told Women’s Health.

4. She Recently Incorporated Weight Lifting Into Her Routine

Kevin Winter/Getty Images

Sofía recently started pumping iron. “The one thing that I have done that really has made a difference in my body is lifting weights. Not crazy weights. But, you know, like five pounds, seven pounds, 10 pounds. Twelve pounds is the maximum I can do. It keeps your muscles tight, and your skin tighter to you,” she told Health. “I’ve done Pilates and spinning, and I’ve tried all sorts of things—and they’re great.”

5. Her Guilty Pleasure? Cake

Sofía allows herself to cheat. "I heard about someone in L.A. who got hypnotized so they wouldn't eat candy," she told Shape. "I'm seriously looking into that because I'm obsessed. When I do indulge, I exercise a bit harder the next day. My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!"

6. Her Diet Is Antioxidant-Rich

Freshly,Picked,Blueberries,In,Wooden,Bowl.,Juicy,And,Fresh,BlueberriesShutterstock

Sofía makes sure to eat lots of antioxidants. Not only does healthy eating keep her in shape, it helps maintain her glow. “I eat a lot of vegetables, and I eat blueberries, and I drink green tea. And I add, like, a spoon of powdered collagen to chamomile tea at night—I don’t know what that does [laughs] but I do it! And I try to drink lots of water,” she told Health. "Scientists have shown that blueberries are loaded with compounds (phytonutrients) that may help prevent chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Blueberries may also improve short-term memory and promote healthy aging. Blueberries are a low-calorie source of fiber and vitamin C — 3/4 cup of fresh blueberries has 2.7 grams of fiber and 10.8 milligrams of vitamin C," says the Mayo Clinic.

In a new social media post, the racecar driver reveals she is taking “the next major step” in her physical journey as a race driver “and I’ve set the target high!” she says in a new Instagram post, filled with video clips of herself lifting heavy weights at the gym. “Never been more motivated in my life, it’s not physically easy for a girl in this sport, but I’m super excited to take on this new challenge and the next big step on my racing journey,” she added. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here are her top lifestyle tips.

Lifting Weights

Bianca spends hours at the gym where she focuses on strength training along with endurance, cardio, reaction time, and reflexes. “You know, to be a driver, it’s a complete package. It takes strength. It takes mental fortitude. It takes reflexes, smart thinking, and survival skills,” she told MEGA Active. “Sometimes it's for the body, sometimes it's for the mind. In her recent post, Bianca reveals that she working extra hard at the gym. “I’ve been working hard over the years to build a solid foundation, but in 2025, I’ll be working with @j_w_90 and I’m doubling down on my training. Increasing to two workouts a day not just on lifts but aerobic endurance, as well as a better focus on nutrition and rest, in order to raise the bar to compete in the higher formulas,” she said.

Fueling Your Body With Protein

Bianca makes sure to eat enough protein in order to build more muscle and stay as lean as possible to meet the weight requirement. “It’s been a really cool journey seeing my body develop and transform into this whole different person I never knew I could become,” she said. In her new post she added that she is meal prepping. “I’m soooo all in that im even learning how to cook & meal prep better than ever before,” she writes.

Taking Cold Plunges

As for recovery, cold plunging is part of Bianca’s training regime. Limited research supports the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, bringing body temperature down, increasing focus, improving sleep, and decreasing inflammation, per the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes post-sport recovery.

Working On Self-Esteem

Positive self-talk is also important. “Of course, I put a lot of pressure on myself, but in the end, I always tell myself that as long as I give my best and I learn from it, any mistake I make is valid,” Bianca explained. “I always try to repeat that to myself that I am valid. I’m here for a reason and there’s nothing I would rather do than be here.”

How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Brenda enjoys jogging. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. “For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories,” they say.

Walking Her Dog

She also takes her dog on long walks. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Dancing

You can also find Brenda dancing to burn calories. Dancing is an excellent workout for many reasons. It builds strength and promotes flexibility, helps you lose weight, and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop or die from heart disease than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues

Swimming

Brenda spends a lot of time in her swimsuit so it isn’t surprising she loves to swim. According to the CDC, swimming is a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity. Just two and a half hours per week of aerobic physical activity, such as swimming, bicycling, or running, can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses. In addition to the many physical benefits, multiple studies support the mental health benefits of swimming.

Hydration

Finally, Brenda hydrates, especially after a long workout or sun exposure. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is essential for various reasons. Water helps eliminate waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature regular, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

She Supports Animals

Romani has her own charity, Help Miami Cats. She talked about how she started this in the caption of this Instagram post. “❤️ Guys!!!! I have always loved cats and had many growing up. When I moved to Miami Beach I met a great calico named Chacha and learnt that cats were brought to the city by Mayor Lummus … against rodents. Cats rely on volunteers for their food and water and there’s a huge amount of them. There’s a city program to Spay and neuter with the wonderful @sobecats ladies and the feeding is made official by a City Sanctioned badge, yet new cats keep getting dumped daily sadly and there’s a never ending amount of work, emergencies and so on. I was on a feeding rotation but during the pandemic I was left alone caring for so many as people left town or couldn’t afford feeding anymore …I decided to start my own non profit @helpmiamicats . We feed close to 200 and when Batman got paralyzed took him and other special needs cats under my care … @stevensachs69 with the cat room and the amazing people involved devote their lives to these special souls … My life has changed a lot too … way less spare time, way more sweat and tears and lost the person I had by my side who had sadly other priorities … yet gained so much love from these lovely creatures !!! If you can please get involved in any way … follow @helpmiamicats , share, volunteer, adopt … donate … Only together we can make their world a better place !!! And yes … just me feeding the kitties and talking to them … 🤷🏻♀️👀😆❤️🙌”
