5 Ways Pedro Pascal Transformed Himself For “Fantastic Four”

One of the summer’s upcoming movies is the newest Fantastic Four film, dubbed Fantastic Four: First Steps. Many different actors have appeared in the films, and the role of Mister Fantastic will be played by Pedro Pascal. Pedro is the perfect actor for this role, since he’s already appeared in action roles like The Mandalorian and The Last Of Us. To don the tights previously worn by Miles Teller and Ioan Gruffudd, Pedro had to get in shape. What exactly did he do? Here are 5 of his workout and diet secrets.
He Works With A Trainer

When he was cast as Joel in The Last Of Us, Pedro had to get in shape. He turned to his long-time trainer, David Higgins, to help him prep for fighting off infected citizens. Pedro previously worked with David on Kingsman: The Golden Circle. David also worked with Ryan Gosling when he was cast as Ken in Barbie.
He Sticks To Basic Workouts

You might think that Pedro’s workout routine is super elaborate. However, you’d be wrong. The actor told Entertainment Weekly that he kept his workouts for Gladiator simple. “My workout routine is just the basics,” admitted Pedro. “Get up, do something, stay busy, eat right, [and] get sleep.”
He Does Mobility Workouts

David shared some of Pedro’s workouts in an interview with GQ. “It was a lot of abs and mobility, along with calisthenics,” he explains. “We looked at his lower back and general tension with some mobility programming. I’m always coming at the body at more of a fix that and then build it kind of approach.”
He Does Bodyweight Exercises
As Pedro said in the second blurb, he keeps his workouts simple. David had him doing a lot of bodyweight exercises. “He’s so athletic and he has so much potential,” David says of the actor to GQ. “He doesn’t necessarily realize how good he is. [After a while] the general bodyweight exercises—stuff like mountain climbers, bodyweight lunges, glute bridges, plank—started feeling more natural.”
He Does Squats
David shared some of Pedro’s favorite exercises in his GQ interview. One exercise that Pedro does is single split squats. According to Piedmont, squats of all kinds have a lot of health benefits. “Squats are a compound, multi-joint movement, which means they exercise several muscle groups. When you perform a squat, you work your calves, quads, hamstrings, glutes, core and part of your back.”
