Reba McEntire is one of the Queens of country music. Sbe’s reigned for decades now, has topped the charts, and has even appeared in several successful sitcoms. Reba might be 70 years old, but she doesn’t look it. Many of her fans wonder what her secrets are. From cooking with ginger, to long walks, to just plain old consistency, here are 5 ways Reba McEntire makes 70 look like 30.
She’s Consistent
Reba makes sure to stay consistent with her wellness routine. She shared her secrets in an interview with People Magazine. “Watch what I eat, get plenty of rest, drink lots of water,” Reba says. “And it’s a chore. I used to be able to drop 10 pounds in a week by getting off fried foods and bread, and now it just takes so much.”
She’s Thankful
Reba has strong faith, and she’s thankful for everything that has happened to her. She talks about this in her People interview. “I’m thankful for where I am,” she says. “And I realize that anything can happen in the blink of an eye to change your circumstances. … Live for the moment, live for today: Can’t do anything about what happened in the past, and don’t put your worries into tomorrow. Just think positive and it will manifest.”
She Watches Her Portions
Reba doesn’t believe in restrictive diets or counting calories. Instead, she focuses on her portion sizes. “Portion control works best for me now,” she says to People Magazine. “I do like to go on vacations and that’s when I really splurge. I love Mexican food — chips, salsa and guacamole. And then chicken enchiladas and a really neat dessert. That’s my cheat day.”
She Loves Ginger
Reba shared some of her wellness secrets with First For Women. In it, she revealed that she has a go-to healthy ingredient. “Ginger is good for everything,” Reba says. “We do a lot of smoothies with ginger, protein powder, vitamins, carrots, and beets. The benefit is quick: You don’t have to wait for a pill that’s in your stomach to dissolve. Smoothies absorb quickly and leave me feeling great.”
She Walks
Reba loves to walk to keep herself in shape. “I like to go on walks with my friends and family, and Rex and I take our French bulldog, Riddler, out for a walk to keep us motivated,” she said to First For Women. “At our age, we’ve got to keep moving. Mama always said, ‘If you don’t use it, you lose it.’ And that’s with your voice, that’s with your muscles. Arthritis is a big thing in my age group, so I keep moving. It’s important.”
