Fernanda is an avid exerciser and spends quite a bit of time at the gym doing strength training workouts, including jump roping, lifting weights, stretches, and squats. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and build lean muscle mass, and increase calorie burn. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Running

The Mayo Clinic encourages running, great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. “For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories,” they say.

She does interval training to maximize the burn, which involves one-minute sprints at a high intensity followed by one-minute rest at low intensity, repeating ten times.

Stair Climber

The star also does cardio on a stair climber. “Take this Stair Climber workout for example, I did a variety of movements on just one machine only 30 minutes. I was able to pass the time easily. It’s great for cardio. (You will feel the burn in your quads when you squat and climb.)” she captioned this post.

Do Yoga

Fernanda loves yoga. “As I get older I realize how important is to work on my flexibility, meditate and connect with my body. Yoga has been key in my healing process and healthy lifestyle. Have you ever tried yoga before?” she captioned a recent post. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”
