Mix Up Your Workouts

Helen suggests maintaining variety with exercise. "'I don't have any sort of set routine because my life is so unpredictable. I'm all about mixing it up. But I do go to the gym and run a lot. I've got big, strong legs," she told Women's Health.

Exercise to Eat More

"For me, exercise is an excuse to eat," Helen told Women's Health about how she approaches diet and exercise. "Like most women I've had a bad relationship with food at some point in my life, but when I started doing these challenges, like kayaking down the Amazon and running marathons and things, my relationship with food completely changed. Now I can eat more, because I need it. It's like putting petrol in a car; if you don't put petrol in your car it's not going to go very far, is it? My favourite thing at the minute, is to go for a run and then have poached eggs and salmon. It's so good. When you exercise, food tastes so much better."

5

Challenge Yourself

In order to keep herself motivated, Helen gives herself challenges. "I always say to my friends that I can't wait until I'm not doing a challenge anymore and I can just do some pilates or some yoga, but as soon as I'm not doing something I find something else. I just had a few days off work so I've been in Cuba for 10 days on holiday and we did 800km on our bikes, just cycling me and my friend. She's a cyclist and I'm not really, but I just said I'll come along and it was good fun. Hard, but fun," she told Women's Health.
