Emily's dedication to skincare shines through as well, relying on zinc-based sunscreens to protect her complexion. When not on set or maintaining her physique, she finds solace in hiking and cherishes moments of solitude for self-reflection and relaxation. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Emily Kinney stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
She Works Out By "Running From Zombies"
Emily gets a great workout in just by showing up to work every day. "I do get a workout on the show, not just from running from zombies, but just being ready to perform all day burns a lot of calories," she told Refiney29.
She Does a Mini Workout in the Morning
Emily stars the day with a mini workout. "I also get up early every day and have a little 20-minute routine of stretches and yoga and lunges and abs that I do no matter what. I like feeling strong. Also, it wakes me up in the morning," she told Refiney29.
She Protects Her Skin
Emily is big on skin protection. "I use a sunscreen with zinc. It's really thick — I don't get a sunburn or tan if I use that stuff. The tan you see on the show is fake," she told the publication
She Hikes
Emily also enjoys hiking. "Things are looking up," she captioned this photo from one of her hikes. "Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail you find yourself on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between," says the National Parks Service. Some of the physical benefits include building stronger muscles and bones, improving your sense of balance, improving your heart health, and decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems. It also offers many mental health benefits, according to a Stanford University study.
She Prioritizes Self-Care
During her down time, Emily focuses on recharging. "I would love to go on a vacation, but no place fancy. I kind of want one week in NYC, a stay-cation with no appointments, to see all the shows I've been missing and to see all my friends. And then I want one week in some isolated place with a good view, where I can go on walks, drink coffee, and just write and sleep and be by myself. Like, completely by myself. I like things about social media, and I'm obsessed with Instagram, but I could really use a whole week off to hear my thoughts," she told Refinery29.
