11 Amazing Bodies of Dua Lipa and Friends
Dua Lipa is one of the most celebrated singers on the planet. This week she celebrated her Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song – in her swimsuit. She also has a lot of famous friends, including models, actors, and fellow singers. What health habits help keep Dua and her friends in such great shape? Celebwell has all the details about Dua's friend group and all of their top diet and fitness rituals.
Dua: Self-Care
Dua prioritizes wellness. "It's such a busy lifestyle, I feel like I need to try and do something for myself every day," she told Viva Magazine in 2018.
Dua: Yoga
"I also love to do yoga," Dua told Refinery29 in 2021. She "always, always" travels with a yoga mat, she revealed during a 73 Questions interview with Vogue. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. "Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood," they said. "People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating."
Dua: Pilates
Dua added to Viva that she also does Pilates. According to research, Pilates exercises are designed to increase muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility, and to improve posture and balance. Experts maintain that it is a great workout for leaning out.
Dua: Healthy Diet
Dua tries to "stay as healthy as possible whenever I can," she dished to Urban List. "I'm never one to stop myself having treats, I do love naughty treats. But I try and limit it to days when I'm not as busy, because if I do eat a doughnut it usually puts me in a food coma!" Some of her other favorite eats and drinks? Maple oat latte, her mother's cooking, and a vodka martini filthy.
Dua: HIIT Style Workouts
"I try and work out as much as I can," Lipa added to Viva. "I love doing something that's really fast and quick, like a 15-minute HIIT session which I can do before I start my day." She told Vogue that she fills her workout with intervals of mountain climbers, jumping jacks, and burpees. "It's high-intensity interval training, but it's so quick, it's over before it's even started!" she said. "I'm still trying to see what my boundaries are and how far I can push myself and when I need to rest."
Emily Ratajkowski: Group Fitness
"I'm one of those people who, if I go to the gym by myself, there's a 50/50 chance of me actually working out and really pushing myself, so the class environment works really, really well for me," Emily told InStyle. "I am also someone who, even in a class, will get chatty and [distracted]. I think that's the great thing about STRONG — the music keeps me really focused and in the zone," she continues. "You just feel like you're, you know, Superwoman really pushing herself. You end up working harder and it's a better, more intense workout, without even noticing."
Katy Perry: 60/40 Diet
Dua and Katy Perry are pals. The singer prioritizes healthy eating. While most stars follow the 80/20 plan, she is a little more lenient. "Let's be honest," she told Prevention, "it's 60/40." Per PopSugar, Katy eats healthy, balanced meals including soups, grilled chicken, quinoa, asparagus, fresh-pressed juices, and coconut water.
Taylor Swift: Running
She also befriended pop sensation Taylor Swift after the two performed side-by-side at the Prime Day Amazon concert. "I love Taylor," she told Wired "We've met a couple times. She's amazing, what an incredible artist." When it comes to exercise, Taylor is a runner. "For me, running is about blasting a whole bunch of new songs and running to the beat. It's also good because it makes me find a gym wherever I am," the singer explained to WebMD. "I'm very much out in the world, and I love exploring the places we go when we tour. It's important for me to live a full life." If she isn't running outdoors, she will hit the treadmill for an hour.
Charli XCX: Exercising 5 Times a Week
Dua is friends with fellow pop star Charlie XCX, who explained to Forbes that exercise is basically her job. "I perform in a really high octane and energetic type of way. So, for me, it's important to keep fit," she said "Also, I find that if I don't exercise, I feel less awake. I try to work out five times a week because it really lifts my mood and makes me feel more positive. It's important for me to stay balanced."
Rina Lipa: Swimming
Rina, Dua's sister, is part of her posse. Like her big sis, Rina spends a lot of time in the water and loves to swim. "I'm quitting everything to become a mermaid," she captioned an Instagram post. Swimming is a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity, according to the CDC. Just two and a half hours per week of aerobic physical activity, such as swimming, bicycling, or running, can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses. In addition to the many physical benefits, there are multiple studies supporting the mental health benefits of swimming as well.
Alexa Demie: Self-Care
Euphoria star Alexa Demie is often photographed out on the town with Dua. "I didn't have the easiest upbringing, so I really turned to find ways to help myself. My mom is very spiritual. I read a lot of books. I explored meditation; I figured out that nature is somewhere that I feel connected, and I feel like rooted and feel like my truest self. And so I found this place that's hidden in L.A., and I made it a point to go there a lot, especially while I was healing. And just trying to be really grounded and aware of my surroundings, the people that I keep around me, my energy, who's draining me, who isn't. And also forgiveness. I think the main thing is you don't want to go around with a chip on your shoulder your whole life," she told Hola!
Sarah Lysander: Walking
Sarah Lysander can often be found vacationing with Dua. She told Arcadia that one of her main forms of exercise is taking her dog "for a hours walk" around her home in London. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.
Rosie Amanda Viva: Running and Walking
Rosie Amanda Viva is another regular in Dua's posse. The model opened up to the BBC about suffering from bipolar disorder. She revealed that she "thrives" when she maintains a healthy diet, drinks little alcohol, and gets enough sleep. Running is also her "happy place" and going for a walk "without my phone and listening to the sounds of the world" is also an important part of her health routine.
Jennie Kim: Pilates
BLACKPINK's Jennie Kim and Dua are friends who have gone Instagram official. The singer is one of the many devotees of pilates, which "strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health," says the Mayo Clinic. "It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness."
Gigi Hadid: Walking
Prior to dating Anwar Hadid, Bella became friends with his older sister, Gigi. Gigi and her daughter "walk a lot," she told The WSJ. "With lifting her and running around all day and going to the park, I get moving." Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving. Each week adults need 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and 2 days of muscle-strengthening activity, according to the current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans.
