In the many clips she posts on Instagram you can see her doing exercises like weighted hip thrusts, squats, and mountain climbers with a TRX belt. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:
- Develop strong bones
- Manage your weight
- Enhance your quality of life
- Manage chronic conditions
- Sharpen your thinking skills
Jump Rope
Simrithi skips with a jump rope. "Not only can the repetitive movement of skipping rope elevate your heart rate, work muscles in the arms and legs and burn calories, it may even provide a quick jolt of joy," says Nike.
Yoga
Simrithi is a yogi. "In tune with my mind body & soul," she captioned a clip of herself getting her zen on during a workout. "The relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga can lessen chronic pain, such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches and carpal tunnel syndrome," Natalie Nevins, DO, a board-certified osteopathic family physician and certified Kundalini Yoga instructor in Hollywood, California, tells American Osteopathic Association. "Yoga can also lower blood pressure and reduce insomnia."
Other physical benefits of yoga include:
- increased flexibility
- increased muscle strength and tone
- improved respiration, energy and vitality
- maintaining a balanced metabolism
- weight reduction
- cardio and circulatory health
- improved athletic performance
- protection from injury
Running
Simrithi is a runner. She starts a lot of her workouts by running on the treadmill. The Mayo Clinic explains that running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. "For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories," they say.
Boxing
Simrithi recently started MMA. In a video, she shows off her boxing skills with her trainer. "Learning new skills and Developing Hobbies from the Best! My Guru🦍❤️ @king_kong_2195 Day 1 of learning MMA , will get better at it with time," she captioned a post.
Stretching
Simrithi makes sure to keep her body and mind flexible. "Do your stretches and breath," she captioned one of her Instagram Stories. "Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints," says Harvard Health. "Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage."
