Jessy Schram in Workout Gear Poses With "My Personal Trainer"
Jessy Schram is best known for her roles in the NBC series, Chicago Med, and on Hallmark Channel films. Last year, Schram did some yoga at home, with a very special guest, and shared photos on Instagram. In them, she did poses with her cat nearby. Schram captioned the post, "My personal trainer." How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Jessy Schram stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
She Does Yoga
Schram talked about her love of yoga in an interview with SELF. "There are so many different styles of yoga," says Schram. "At different times in your life, your body needs different things. I find it neat that the physical practice usually reflects your life and how you're going through it. Practicing the physical postures keeps your body fit, limber, strong, connected and healthy–and if you let it, it will do the same for your mind. I enjoy it because it's challenging, playful and keeps me listening to my body."
She Grounds Herself
Schram shared her favorite yoga poses and what they do for her with SELF. She says that she loves the mountain pose because it helps ground her. "The feet are where it all begins. Finding the earth with your toes and all areas of the feet helps you stay grounded. This pose helps center and ground me. It reminds me that there is strength in stillness and to check in with my body, listen to how it is feeling that particular day or moment.
She Challenges Herself
Schram tells SELF that she likes to challenge her body. "Tree pose is great because it challenges you in ways that are gentle and simple, yet hard! Balance is formed by standing on one leg and opening the knee to the side, putting the foot on the thigh or shin (never on the knee!). I like to either raise my arms and open my heart to the sky–or touch my thumbs to my heart in prayer position and find stillness. Closing the eyes forces me to trust myself and be bold."
She Loves Bananas
Schram revealed in an interview with Naluda Magazine that she likes eating bananas. The Cleveland Clinic reports that the fruit has a lot of health benefits. "With 3 grams (g) of fiber, a banana supplies nearly 10% of what you need in a day, based on a 2,000-calorie daily diet, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) dietary guidelines. You hear 'fiber' and probably automatically think of digestion. It's true — fiber is great for your gut. It helps keep things moving in your intestines, and most of us probably need to eat more."
She Hikes
Schram spends a lot of time outside. One thing she likes to do is go on hikes. She shared this photo on Instagram of herself hiking by a waterfall. Schram captioned the post, "Much to TLC's delight." Piedmont states that going on hikes has a lot of health benefits. "Going up and down hills gets the heart pumping, creating a great cardio workout. Like most cardio exercises, hiking helps reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even some cancers. Hiking is a weight-bearing exercise, which builds muscle mass and helps prevent osteoporosis. Hiking can help you manage your weight. It is a joint-friendly form of exercise that can keep arthritis sufferers more limber and mobile."
