Maren Morris in Two-Piece Workout Gear “Can’t Escape This Song”

Maren Morris is dancing to her own song in her workout gear. In a new social media post the singer flaunts her rock hard abs in a sports bra and leggings as she lip syncs to her hit song, The Middle. โIf I canโt escape this song, neither can you,โ she writes about the Instagram video.ย How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.ย
A Clean Diet
Maren eats clean. She makes sure to consume lots of protein and veggies. For breakfast she has three egg whites, spinach cooked in olive oil, and wheat toast, followed by a salad with protein for lunch. She usually waits until after a performance for dinner. โWhen Iโm out there, I make it count. I know Iโll feel awful if I donโt eat right after burning all those calories in the show,โ she dished to Womenโs Health. Dinner might be another salad, like spinach with lemon vinaigrette and chicken.ย
HIIT Workouts
Maren does regular HIIT sessions with Nashville-based trainer Erin Oprea. Her workouts usually involve jump roping followed by bodyweight resistance strength training, doing exercises like front and side planks, pushups, squats, lunges, and a combo of the latter two. โSquat lunges are the worst,โ she said โTheyโre so hard because thatโs the area I need it mostโmy thighs and butt.โ She then moves to the BOSU ball and does crunches and core work, followed by weight lifting with free weights.ย There is lots of research backing up the benefits of HIIT workouts, including body fat reduction, improved cardiovascular function, and mental health. It is also time effective.ย
Tennis
Maren enjoys an active lifestyle. โShe has been playing tennis,โ Opera told E News. โI encourage clients to do their cardio outside of me. Sports are always the best way because when youโre chasing a ball, youโre not thinking about cardio.โ According to ACE Fitness tennis blends together cardio and aerobic exercise, as there is a lot of running around, and hand-eye coordination. โWhile tennis provides numerous health benefitsโimproved aerobic fitness and anaerobic endurance, muscular fitness (grip strength and endurance), flexibility, multiple skill parameters (balance, speed, agility and quickness), reactivity, and powerโit also is psychologically demanding,โ they say.ย
Reading
Maren is an avid reader. Why should you read? One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who werenโt readers or who read periodicals.ย
Mental Health
Maren prioritizes her mental health. โI make myself socially available only when I know I can be fully present,โ she says. โOtherwise, Iโm mentally recharging and spending time at home with myself or with my son,โ she told PS. She added that she is enthusiastic about her โnext chapter, whatever that may bring,โ and hopes she will be โa lot lighter and more sure-footed in myself than Iโve ever been.โ
