Julianne Hough in Two-Piece Workout Gear Addresses Fan Concerns Over Her Body

The DWTS alum claps back after being told to “eat a cheeseburger”

Julianna Hough wants to set the record straight about her body. Last week the Dancing with the Stars alum shared a video of her wellness routine, which included clips of herself dancing in a bathing suit and jumping on a trampoline. After sparking concern over her thin figure, the star clapped back, revealing in an Instagram Story of herself in exercise clothes that she has "always been this weird." She also went on to reveal details about her wellness plan. "I don't usually address comments like this but I'm going to say a few things about this video," she writes in the comments.

Sauna

She explains that her "routine" starts in the sauna, "and might as well kill two birds with one stone while you are in the sauna," so that's where she does her red light therapy. Should you take a dry sauna? While some claim the health benefits of saunas are plentiful, including detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation, there isn't a lot of research backing up the claims.

Red Light Therapy

Julianne started with some red light therapy. "The red light therapy is incredible for you," she writes in the caption. "Red light therapy uses low levels of red light to reportedly improve your skin's appearance, such as reducing wrinkles, scars, redness and acne," says the Cleveland Clinic

Cold Plunge

Next up, a cold plunge. There is limited research supporting the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, bringing body temperature down, increased focus, improved sleep, and decreased inflammation, per the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes basic post-sport recovery.

Trampoline

For her exercise portion, Julianne jumps on the trampoline. "The trampoline was a new try for me today at my friends house -jump – it's for your lymphatic system which promotes lymphatic drainage which helps protect the body from disease and infection," she says. Adding a spring to your step can help you get into shape faster. A NASA study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology claims that rebounding exercise is 68 percent more efficient than jogging. As far as calories burned, a study by the American Council on Exercise found that mini trampoline workouts effectively burn an average of 12.4 calories per minute for men and 9.4 calories per minute for women. According to a 2016 in the Journal of Sport and Health Science trampoline jumping also helps with bone density and strength.

Her Body "Has Never Been Healthier"

"My body has never been healthier," maintains in the post. "I was full of inflammation in my 20's and had a marker for an auto immune that I addressed and committed to over a year and a half ago. I've frozen my eggs over the last few years which also shifts the body fluctuation. I've never been healthier or happier from the inside out. Grief, loss. Sadness and fear also get stored in the body and we hold on to that in different ways. I made it a huge priority to accept, express, process and release a lot of emotions over the years."
