How Nicholas Galitzine is Building His Superhero Physique to Play He-Man

Galitzine is armoring up for 'Masters of the Universe' with "intense" training.

If you're crushing hard on Nicholas Galitzine, Emporio Armani Fragrance's 2025 global brand ambassador, you're sure to be wooed as he takes on the role of He-Man in Masters of the Universe. Fans already fell for the actor when he channeled pop-star Hayes Campbell alongside Anne Hathaway (aka, Solène) in 2024's rom-com, The Idea of You. Now, he's armoring up for Masters of the Universe—and we're here to share the He-Man training tidbits that helped Nicholas Galitzine build his superhero physique.

Nicholas Galitzine's "Intense" He-Man Training

What exactly is the British actor doing to prepare for the role of He-Man? He's bulking up with lots of food and weights. After all, He-Man has superhuman strength!

"I've been lifting all the heavy things in the world to get into He-Man shape," Galitzine told Vogue in January.

The celeb also revealed to W Magazine, "There's been a lot of eating and weightlifting, a lot of stunts. I'm eating about 4,000 calories a day, but the amount of physical work I'm doing, you end up hungry at the end of the day, which is quite surprising."

That's a lot of calories, but with how active Galitzine has to be to reach his goal, that calorie intake doesn't seem to fill him up.

"This is the fun part. I will eventually go into what's called the cutting phase, where I'm going to be starved and so rude to everyone. I can only apologize for the person I'm going to become in a few months' time," the actor added.

Galitzine referred to his training regimen as "intense" in a February Instagram post. He wrote, "After several months of intense training, I'm thrilled to share that we're officially in production on #MastersOfTheUniverse. Our director Travis Knight has assembled the most incredible ensemble cast and created a stunning tapestry of Eternia and its surrounding world. I can't wait for you to see. More to come, but until then, here's a sneak peek at the Sword of Power. By the power of Grayskull!"

Bulking up can be a full-time job. According to the International Sports Science Association, consuming proteins like seafood, chicken, lean beef, beans, and dairy (milk, yogurt, and cheese) are essential. It's also key to incorporate high-carb foods into a bulking diet, such as sweet potatoes, old-fashioned oats, whole-grain bread, fruit, rice, and vegetables. And don't forget about healthy fats. (Think eggs, avocado, nuts, and olive oil.)

Galitzine not only trains his body; he trains his mind, too, with wood carving. "I like to carve chess pieces. It's very meditative for me. I'm just trying to carve an entire chessboard, basically," the actor told W Magazine when asked about his "secret skill."

Real talk: The 30-year old actor from London is on fire. How does the star feel about becoming He-man? "No pressure, I just have to embody the strongest man in the universe," he said.

You've got this, He-Man.

Masters of the Universe is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.
