Julianne Hough In Workout Gear does "Samba Whisk"

The "DWTS" host danced with brother Derek, and pro dancer, Alexis Warr

Julianne Hough is best known for her two mirrorball trophies from Dancing With The Stars, and being both a judge and a current host of the show. Julianne recently reminded her followers of her impressive moves in an Instagram post, alongside her brother and DWTS champ and judge, Derek, as well as troupe member, Alexis Warr. In it, the three dancers performed the samba whisk. Julianne wore an adorable two-piece gray workout set, and captioned the post, "Don't whisk out on this trend." Here are 5 of Julianne Hough's wellness secrets.

1

She Eats Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Julianne shared what foods she needs to have in her diet in an interview with EatingWell. She says that she eats a lot of anti-inflammatory food. "I'm definitely a person that loves good fats, so sometimes I'll do avocado and a little olive oil and salt," Julianne said. "Sometimes I'll do a piece of fruit midmorning as a snack. If I've woken up pretty early, I'll do some sort of salad with protein in the afternoon and then really just protein and veggies at night."

2

She Eats A Lot Of Protein

Julianne tells EatingWell that protein is another essential element of her diet. "Protein for me is honestly key. I work out, I dance, I'm active, so that's definitely a need for me for my recovery. But for anybody, it's what we need in our daily diet. Other things that I like to eat that are high in protein are salmon or chicken, well-sourced. And I'll pair that with some Japanese sweet potatoes, asparagus or sometimes I'll do cauliflower. I really enjoy a healthy meal that is either locally sourced or farm-to-table. It just feels like I'm feeding my body so well and feeling so fueled."

3

She Doesn't Restrict Herself

In a separate interview with EatingWell, Julianne says that while she does eat healthy, she doesn't believe in restricting herself. "I don't believe in restrictive dieting. Instead, I focus on making healthy choices most of the time and allowing myself to indulge in my favorite guilty pleasures occasionally. I also believe it's important to listen to your body and to eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. The best way to eat well is to find what works for you and to listen to your body."

She Spends Time Outside

Julianne loves spending time outside. She revealed in the caption of this Instagram post that she took a wellness outdoor retreat with some of her friends. "Took a very special offsite trip to The Ranch Malibu with some of the most powerful, integral, and intuitive women I know," she wrote. "Being in nature while creating and making decisions from a place of peace, presence, and abundance… not just the mind, was everything. From restorative hikes and nourishing meals to deep conversations that stretched us to grow, this weekend was a reminder of what's possible when we slow down, connect, and lead from within."

5

She Does A Variety Of Workouts

When it comes to working out, Julianne likes to mix it up. She shared some of her favorite things to do in an interview with People. "Morning is my favorite time to exercise. I'll either see my trainer Astrid [McGuire] … or hit a class at Tracy Anderson. I like to shock my body by doing different things."
