Bri loves exercising outdoors, especially when there is an incline. “[I stay in shape] by hiking,” she revealed during an Instagram Q&A. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include building stronger muscles and bones, improving your sense of balance, improving your heart health, and decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues.
Healthy Diet
When it comes to food, you won’t find Bri on any crash diets. “I stay thin because I eat a healthy, balanced diet. It’s not really about exercise for me,” she said during the Q&A.
Strength Training
Another fitness habit of Bri’s? “Weight lifting,” she said during the Q&A. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and build lean muscle mass, and increase calorie burn. Strength training may also help you:
- Develop strong bones
- Manage your weight
- Enhance your quality of life
- Manage chronic conditions
- Sharpen your thinking skills
Yoga
Bri is a yogi. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”
She Golfs
Bri also golfs. A comprehensive review published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that golf’s health benefits are extensive, including mind, body, and even lifespan. Benefits include improved longevity, decreased risk of developing heart disease or suffering a stroke, good mental health, and improved strength and balance.
