Allison Holker in Bikini Is “Creating Beautiful Memories”

Here is everything she does to stay in shape

Allison Holker is making memories at the Amangiri – in her bikini. In a new social media post, the So You Think You Can Dance all-star shows off her amazing figure in a bathing suit while vacationing with boyfriend, Adam Edmunds. “Creating beautiful memories ❤️ Amangiri @amangiri WAS PERFECT Peaceful and Romantic,” she captioned the series of snaps. How does the dancer maintain her flawless physique? Here is everything she does to stay in shape.

1

Dancing

Dancing is a big part of her life. “For me, movement has just always been a safe zone,” she told Women’s Health. “As a dancer, it has always been a pivotal part of me releasing energy physically, storytelling, being able to express myself.”

2

Yoga

Allison is all about yoga.  “I love that [yoga] meets all three entities for me: the physical, the mental, and the spiritual, all in one,” she told Women’s Health. After her husband died, it also became a source of healing for her. “After everything, when I started moving again, I started going three times a week,” she says. “Yoga was there for me.” There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”

Cold Plunging

Allison cold plunges in her backyard for five minutes every morning while taking in the sunrise. “[Cold plunging] just starts my day from a place of, ‘I can do the hard things, I can make it.’ It centers me–it’s my meditation–it centers my mind,” she told Women’s Health. Limited research supports the benefits of cold plunges, which may include easing sore muscles, lowering body temperature, improving focus, enhancing sleep, and reducing inflammation, according to the Cleveland Clinic. However, a 2021 study found that cold water immersion therapy promotes post-sport recovery.

Saunas

She also takes a sauna three times a week. “I call these my non-negotiables, and everyone knows I do it. It’s in my schedule and I’m dedicated to it,” she says. Even on her toughest days, these daily rituals kept her moving forward. “I think it’s been something that’s really helped me in every aspect of my life, and I don’t see myself ever letting go of these things that are so crucial to me.”

5

Talking It Out

Allison is all about therapy and talking it out. “I would love to tell people to reach out to a therapist if they’re low, to talk to a friend if they’re low. But sometimes people are scared to use their words. So, then move your body.”
