Livvy Dunne is living her best life this summer in her bikini. In a new social media post the gymnast influencer flaunts her famous figure in a tiny bathing suit as she soaks up the sun. “east coast summer 🍒,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “I have a crush on u,” commented Alix Earle. “You’re so cute,” added Olivia Ponton. How does the athlete maintain her flawless physique? Here are all of her diet and fitness habits.
Gymnastics
Gymnastics is Dunne’s main form of fitness. “I liked how I was in control of my own destiny,” she told Flaunt about starting gymnastics when she was only 3. “I loved the thrill of learning new skills and improving myself every single practice. I fell in love with trying to be the best.” Pinnacle Gymnastics explains that the sport’s benefits include flexibility, balance, and muscular strength. “These skills improve bone health and delay the development of high blood pressure,” they say.
Horseback Riding
Olivia rides horses. “The horse’s name was Friday,” she captioned a series of snaps of herself riding a horse on the beach. According to the American Heart Association, riding horses is excellent for your health. It enhances cardiovascular health, strengthens the core, burns calories, and lowers blood pressure. It is also beneficial for your mental health, as it helps to relax you.
Surfing
Olivia is also a surfer girl. “Totally tubular,” she captioned a series of snaps from the ocean. According to the Australian government’s Better Health, surfing provides many health benefits, including cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say.
Tennis
Olivia plays tennis. “Serving looks,” she captioned a post of herself with a racquet. According to ACE Fitness, it combines cardio and aerobic exercise, as it involves a lot of running and requires hand-eye coordination. “While tennis provides numerous health benefits—improved aerobic fitness and anaerobic endurance, muscular fitness (grip strength and endurance), flexibility, multiple skill parameters (balance, speed, agility, and quickness), reactivity, and power—it also is psychologically demanding,” they say.
A Good Head on Her Shoulders
Dunne has a good head on her shoulders. “You have to have tough skin to do gymnastics or any artistic sport,” she told Flaunt. “I actually looked at a statistic, and it said anorexia and body image issues are the highest in artistic sports. That is terrible, but I understand it. Growing up in elite gymnastics, it was very hard with body image. Being a young girl going through puberty, it’s hard to be in a leotard. The whole sport of gymnastics is having people judge you, and I just think that’s something not a lot of people talk about. Yes, I’m confident in myself, but it’s something I still struggle with to this day. I want girls to know that it’s normal. That’s normal.”
