Draya Michele in Bikini Shows Off Her “Snacks”

Here is what to know about her diet and fitness habits

Draya Michele is heating up summer in her bikini. In a new social media post, the actress shows off her amazing body in some skimpy swimsuits. “A variety pack of snacks. 😮,” she captioned the Instagram photos and videos, giving her followers a glimpse into her life lately. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1

She Uses the “Military Diet” for Weight Loss

Draya goes on a strict “military diet” when she wants to lose weight, consuming only clean foods like grapefruit and lean protein. “You know what I had for breakfast today?” she revealed in an Instagram video. “Coffee, one hard-boiled egg, celery, and a spoonful of cottage cheese.”

2

Strength Training

Draya relies on strength training to keep her muscles toned. She uses small equipment, like exercise bands, free weights, and a kettlebell, focusing on building muscle. She also does cardio. “I am naturally skinny but I stay on the treadmill in my house,” she told RadarOnline. “I watch the clock for the ENTIRE 45 minutes like a hawk. But I work really hard, I’m up to an eight incline.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Hydration

Draya drinks a lot of water. “Increase your water intake,” she recommended to FashionBombDaily per Madame Noire about her go-to health tip. “Any amount is better than what you’ve been drinking. Your body and skin will thank you for it in the long run.” According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

A Balanced Diet

Draya eats super healthy. “I try to cook as much as I can and I don’t necessarily cook healthy, but I use very small portions to keep the calories at bay,” she told FashionBombDaily. “I love soda……but my skin and body [don’t]. I’m a cheater about once a week.” She is also tries to stick to a pescatarian lifestyle. “I’ve tried to limit my chicken and red meat consumption a lot. I try to drink a lot of water. I try to work out. My downfalls are sweets. I really love sweets. And alcohol goes with partying. If I’m going to drink, I try to diet. If I’m not going to diet, I try to skip dessert,” she told BET about her approach to health. “Dieting is always going to be a struggle, so that’s why you have to balance it with working out. I don’t eat whatever I want, but if I do eat whatever I want, I at least got to work out to make it even.

Walking

Draya makes sure to get her steps in. “A quick 20 min walk,” she wrote alongside a snap of her workout summary showing she walked 0.83 miles. “Not too much.” Going for a daily walk can be a game-changer in exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.
