Emily Ratajkowski in Bikini Says “Grazie”

Here is what to know about her diet and fitness habits

Emily Ratajkowski is heating up Italy in her bikini. In a new social media post, the gorgeous model-slash-actress shows off her famous figure in a tiny, animal print bathing suit. “grazie villa san giacomo,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “You’re so hot,” commented one of her followers. “Ola,” added another. How does the model approach health and wellness? Here are her top diet and fitness habits.

1

Yoga

Emily loves yoga. “I don’t have a trainer, and I don’t really go to the gym,” she told The New York Times. “I’m just not a crazy fitness person. I’m definitely an outlier in the industry,” she added. “And doing yoga a couple of times a week is a really big part of my regimen.” There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”

Authenticity

Emily is all about being herself. “I think the biggest obstacle of my career has been transitioning and doing things that people didn’t really expect,” she explained to Harper’s Bazaar. “But I think you just have to forge ahead and do what you’re going to do and be who you are.”

3

Sleep

Emily prioritizes self-care, especially getting enough rest. “For me, the way I sleep afterwards is one of the main reasons to work out. I am always on my phone working and I think that’s affected my sleep. I’m also really light-sensitive. When I work out, it’s better than taking a melatonin. Because my body has worked hard, my brain finally rests and I think that is so valuable in this day and age — not to sound like an old geezer, but truly I feel that way,” she told InStyle.

4

Walking

Emily gets her steps in. “I go on long walks and hikes with my girlfriends,” she told the New York Times. A 2018 study published in Obesity found a link between walking 10,000 steps a day and weight loss and weight management. Other studies published by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in JAMA Neurology and in JAMA Internal Medicine also linked walking 10,000 steps a day to less dementia and less cardiovascular disease overall, with less heart disease, less heart failure, and fewer strokes.

5

Group Fitness

Emily also appreciates group fitness. “I’m one of those people who, if I go to the gym by myself, there’s a 50/50 chance of me actually working out and really pushing myself, so the class environment works really, really well for me,” Emily told InStyle. “I am also someone who, even in a class, will get chatty and [distracted]. I think that’s the great thing about STRONG — the music keeps me really focused and in the zone,” she continues. “You just feel like you’re, you know, Superwoman really pushing herself. You end up working harder and it’s a better, more intense workout, without even noticing.”

6

Mental Health

Emily recently revealed on the “High Low” podcast that she enjoys therapy. “I’ve been in therapy for quite a long time,” she said. “For me, it was really in therapy where I learned to be independent and get to the root of my fear of abandonment.”
