Chelsea Handler in Bikini Enjoys “First Day of Summer”

Here are her diet and fitness habits

It’s the end of August, but Chelsea Handler is finally getting her summer started in her bikini. In a new social media post, the actress shows off her fit figure in a tiny bathing suit while reading a book. “Just enjoying my first day of summer,” she captioned the Instagram Stories image. How does the star maintain her fit physique? Here are her diet and fitness habits.

1

Several Meals a Day

When it comes to her diet, Chelsea follows a few rules. “I eat every three to four hours,” she told Women’s Health. “I always make sure I have something every three to four hours because a nutritionist once taught me it’s the best way to control your blood sugar levels.” She also pays attention to hunger cues. “I think when you consistently feed your body, you have less of an inclination to [pig out],” she told Women’s Health. “I like to eat light and I don’t overdo it now. When I’m eating, I take my time and pay attention to when I’m full.”

Intermittent Fasting

Chelsea puts off eating until later in the day. “I usually have fresh celery juice first thing in the morning and don’t eat anything for a few hours,” she told Women’s Health about her informal method of intermittent fasting. “I try and go for as long as I can without eating in the morning,” she explains. Once a week, she even waits until 3 or 4 p.m for her first meal.

Hydration

Chelsea is all about hydration. “I have water in my fridge that has lemon, lime, and cucumber,” she says. “I’m not a fan of water, so in order to drink it I have to doctor it up. I have to add stuff to make it palatable and it has to be ice-cold; everything I drink has to be ice-cold.”

Limiting Drinking[slidetitle]

Handler recently told Health that she has dramatically cut down on drinking. “I used to drink all the time,” she confessed. “I thought I could handle my alcohol, but I didn’t realize how much your body and your life changes when it’s not in your life every day. Now I’m not giving up drinking…I would never do that to people—or to alcohol. But it’s nice to wake up with clarity and to take a break from the bloat. I didn’t think I was bloated until I didn’t drink for a few weeks. Then I was like, ‘Whoa, look at my cheekbones and my abs.'”

Handler trains with Ben Bruno, “pretty much every day,” she told Health. “I just like to feel strong, and now it’s part of my mental strength.” While she likes to work out with her boyfriend, she isn’t a fan of group fitness. “I can’t work out in a class. For some reason I can’t,” she told People. “And this probably sounds surprising, but I don’t think I’m competitive enough. I just want to give up and be like, I can’t I can’t do it. There’s a pace I don’t like.”
