Mad Men’s January Jones Shares Thirst Trap Bikini Photo During “Heat Wave”

Here are her top diet and fitness tips

January Jones is striking a pose and setting a thirst trap – in her bikini. In a new social media post, the Mad Men star shows off her washboard abs in a bathing suit on a hot day. “Only cause it’s a heat wave,” she captioned the Instagram post. “Smitten,” commented a follower. “Thank you,” added another. How does the 47-year-old approach health and wellness? Here are her top diet and fitness tips

1

Do Pilates

January recommends Pilates for elongating the body. “Two or three years ago I started doing barre classes, and after that I took regular private Pilates lessons. Then a friend told me about Lagree Pilates,” she told Shape in February 2020. “I’ve been doing it two to four times a week for the past year now, and I’ve gained weight because I’ve put on muscle. I’ve gone up a size in clothes, but I feel like I look better naked.”

2

Do Yoga

She is also an advocate of yoga, training with Kirschen, a private yoga instructor based in Los Angeles. Why should you follow in her footsteps, per Harvard Health? “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”

Workout in Classes

January also recommends group fitness classes because “music is good” and the routine changes, so “it doesn’t get boring,” she told Shape. “I like having women on both sides of me to push me. When I did the private Pilates lessons a couple of years ago, I just saw myself getting lazy with it because there wasn’t that drive for competition. For me, that’s what’s motivating. If there’s someone strong next to me, I definitely want to up my game. I find myself looking forward to it more than I’ve ever looked forward to a workout.”

4

Eat Healthy Food

January recommends a balanced diet. “I don’t deprive myself of anything. If I want something—steak, a bagel—I’ll eat it. There’s no diet or strict set of rules,” she told Shape. “I don’t get hungry until around 10 a.m., but since I usually do Lagree at 9:30, I’ll make myself eat a banana beforehand so I don’t get too shaky. Then I have a MacroBar afterward and eat lunch around 11:30—usually salad, soup, or a sandwich,” she revealed. She also loves to cook and might make salmon with French fries or pasta for herself and her son, Xander. “We try to have lots of green veggies,” she added. One way she gets her greens in? “Last winter, I started drinking celery juice every day, and I’ve seen amazing results in my energy, digestion, and skin and how I sleep. I have that in the morning, then I take my vitamins and drink coffee.” She also eats organic. “No antibiotics or hormones in meats is really important to me, and so is eating sustainable fish. I don’t want to be that annoying person in the restaurant who’s like, ‘Where’s this fish from?’ But I do it anyway.”

5

Do Cardio Barre

January also suggests trying Cardio Barre, a combination of traditional barre moves with non-stop movements. “I feel better. I feel stronger. It’s muscle, obviously. I gained weight, but I feel tighter and more energetic, and exercising is legit,” she told InStyle.
