Ali recommends starting the day with “Celery juice and coffee,” she writes. According to the Cleveland Clinic, moderate coffee consumption has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

2

Exercise in the Morning

Ali suggests sweating first thing in the morning. After having coffee and celery juice, she tries to “hit the gym by 6,” she says. “I do a 30 minute intervals, run and 10 minutes of core.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and build lean muscle mass, and increase calorie burn. Strength training may also help you:

Ali keeps her self-care routine simple in the morning. “Dunk my face in ice water, slather with oil cause of my spray tan. Leave for work at 7am. Go through the works and blend out my tan,” she says.

4

Hydrate and Consume Protein

Coffee, hydration, and food come after a workout. She eats a protein-packed meal in the morning. “Another coffee, lemon water, eggs and Turkey bacon,” she says. According to clinical trials, consuming more protein than the recommended dietary allowance not only reduces body weight (BW), but also enhances body composition by decreasing fat mass while preserving fat-free mass (FFM) in both low-calorie and standard-calorie diets.

5

Practice Breathwork

Ali recommends practicing breathwork. “10 minutes of deep breathing to break down the BS I tell myself and redirect my energy to a calm, confident, and creative state while I look over my material,” she says. “When you meditate, you may clear away the information overload that builds up every day and contributes to your stress,” says the Mayo Clinic. Benefits include:

  • Gaining a new perspective on stressful situations
  • Building skills to manage your stress
  • Increasing self-awareness
  • Focusing on the present
  • Reducing negative emotions
