Friday Night Lights’ Jurnee Smollett in Bikini Is “Breathtaking”

Jurnee Smollett is heating up the internet in her latest video. In a new social media post, the True Blood and Friday Night Lights star shows off her famous figure while gushing over a makeup collection. “Not much makes me happier than a red lip. 💋This collection is absolutely breathtaking @patmcgrathreal + @louisvuitton. Bravo,” she captioned the Instagram snaps. “BEAUTIFUL,” commented Kerry Washington. “My favorite girl,” added another follower. How does Smollett approach health and fitness? Here are her top diet and fitness habits.
No Excuses
Jurnee doesn’t make excuses for skipping a workout and will get one in wherever she happens to be. “If I have a jump rope and a resistance band, I can work out anywhere,” she says. “Even without a jump rope. If you do 200 jumping jacks, then drop and do some crunches, and then do some squats, you’re good,” she told Self.
Sleep
While it can be difficult for Jurnee to stick to a sleep schedule, she has developed healthy habits to help. “I don’t know if it was the content or what, but it’s hard to come home and just turn it off and sleep,” she told Self. “I found myself turning on white noise to try to fall asleep and just making sure the room was pitch black.”
Baths
Jurnee loves baths with Dead Sea salts from Whole Foods in aromatherapy scents like lavender. “One thing I would advise: never soak in anything with mint because it stings in places,” she said. “I made that mistake one time. It was not fun.” She also lights candles and listens to music. How can baths do your body and mind good? They have been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression. One recent study even found that they may even boast cardiovascular benefits. According to Loughborough University research published in the journal Temperature, relaxing in a hot bath can burn as many calories as a 30-minute walk, about 140 calories.
Mixing Up Workouts
Jurnee mixes her workouts and incorporates yoga, plyometrics, and dance classes into her more traditional workout regimen. Her strength training routine involves interval training, using exercise bands, heavy weights, and bodyweight. She also does boxing and kickboxing. Harvard Health maintains that boxing is a great way to build strength, improve balance, posture, hand-eye coordination, boost mood and endurance, and helps increase alertness.
Online Workouts
Jurnee told Glamour that she also does her trainer, Jeanette Jenkins’ online workouts. “I do all her workouts because I always feel thoroughly worn down afterward, which is a feeling I like right now,” she said.
