Lucy Hale Shares the Exact Workout Keeping Her Toned

Lucy Hale shares her favorite exercises and diet habits for staying fit.

Star of Pretty Little Liars and films like Truth or Dare, Lucy Hale is in the spotlight. In between her busy filming schedule, she keeps her health and fitness at the forefront of her mind, prioritizing her mental and physical strength. Here are five things she does to stay toned, fit, and feeling her best inside and out.

She’s sober

Lucy has not only remained sober for years, but she is big into humanitarian work, supporting others with their recovery. “Through grace, compassion, self-forgiveness and commitment, I have been able to turn my life around. … There is a new life on the other side of choosing yourself one baby step at a time,” she said. “Prayer and meditation bookend my days and I do digital detoxes, energy sessions, talk therapy, connect with like-minded people, and don’t take life so seriously.”

She moves her body

She believes you should get moving in some capacity every day. “I’m a believer in mind, body and spirit. … I try to get some sort of movement every day, but I really listen to my body and what it needs. If I’m not feeling it that day, I won’t do it. I love hiking, pilates, yoga, and strength training and mix up my workouts so I don’t get bored. I have three nourishing meals a day — no compromising, drink lots of water, and get 8 hours minimum of sleep,” she said.

She likes variety

She believes it’s best to spice things up, trying different ways to stay active. “I think the more things you try and the more active you become, the more confident and comfortable you become with yourself,” Lucy said. “I’m much happier, my mood is better when I’m consistently working out. I’m just one of those weirdos who likes working out. I really enjoy it.”

She works with a trainer

She taps into the help of a personal trainer. My trainer is “the one who’s forcing me to try pull-ups, so every couple of days we’ll try to do more,” Lucy said. “But I also like group fitness. I think that’s a way you can see your friends and break a sweat but still have a good time. I do things like Soul Cycle and Training Mate. I love to hike.”

She follows a pescatarian diet

She tries to eat healthy, remaining pescatarian. “I mainly follow a pescatarian diet,” Lucy said. “I don’t even like to say diet, just a pescatarian lifestyle. I don’t do dairy and I try to cut back on processed stuff. I typically like to prepare all my food so I know what I’m getting.”
