Abby Dowse’s Exact Routine to Stay Fit and Slim at 34

Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Abby Dowse is looking fit and slim in her workout dress. In a new social media post the model flaunts her assets while getting her steps in, wearing a super tight exercise outfit. She shared the clip via her Instagram Stories, also sharing a photo of her breakfast: A bagel sandwich and coffee. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Abby Dowse trains in the gym

Abby Dowse/Instagram

Abby spends lots of time at the gym strength training with a personal trainer. Her routine includes squats, lunges, rows, planks, and lifting heavy weights. She regularly shares workouts in her Instagram Stories and has a tab devoted to them. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Jump Roping

She also jump ropes. “My type of cardio,” she captioned an Instagram Story clip. “Not only can the repetitive movement of skipping rope elevate your heart rate, work muscles in the arms and legs and burn calories, it may even provide a quick jolt of joy,” says Nike.

Biking

Abby Dowse rides a stationary bike

In another Instagram Stories clip, she cycles on a stationary bike. The Cleveland Clinic explains that biking, a low-impact aerobic exercise, is excellent for building muscle, improving strength and flexibility, and improving balance. It can also boost mental health and help other health conditions, including arthritis

Coffee

Abby enjoys the perks of caffeine. She loves coffee. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Sauna

Abby is all about the heat. She enjoys hot saunas. “Sauna got me good 💦😅💯,” she captioned a post. Should you take a dry sauna? While some claim the health benefits of saunas are plentiful, including detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation, there isn’t a lot of research backing up the claims.

Actress and radio presenter Gemma Atkinson isn’t interested in unrealistic resolutions this year. Atkinson, 39, shared a video of herself working out with a kettlebell, wearing purple leggings and a baggy t-shirt. “It’s been a long time since I’ve bought into the whole ‘new year new you’ stuff. Today was treated like any other day for me. Building a lifestyle with habits of moving regularly, eating nutritious meals as well as still enjoying nights out and the occasional blow out is how I prefer to be all year round. It keeps me sane, keeps me healthy and most importantly, keeps me away from ever feeling disappointed in myself for not sticking to something that I put on myself,” she captioned the post. Here’s how Atkinson eats and works out to live her best life.

1. 12-Week Transformation

Atkinson’s workouts are based around weight and resistance training. “I get up at 4.30am to present Manchester’s Key 103 Breakfast Show,” she tells Women’s Health. “I swear by getting six hours’ sleep, drinking three liters of water a day and being active. My motto is ‘energy creates energy’. My 12-week transformation—and current training—does involve a lot of heavy weight training. I’ve always gone to the gym – but this taught me to focus on the quality of my workouts, not the quantity.”

2. Her Daily Diet

Plate,Of,Tasty,Sandwiches,With,Egg,On,Grey,BackgroundShutterstock

Atkinson’s typical diet is as follows:

5am: Poached eggs on rye

9am:Oats with protein powder and almond milk

12.30pm:Sweet potato jacket, hummus, salad and salmon

3.30pm:Dark chocolate and fresh strawberries

7pm:Chicken stir-fry with vegetables

“I haven’t eaten red meat in five years, and I limit my dairy intake,” she tells Women’s Health. “I love animals and there’s cruelty in how these foods are produced. I’m working towards becoming pescetarian, then vegetarian… I cook from scratch as much as I can. It gives me more control over what I eat, tastes better and is free from nasties. It works out cheaper, too.”

3. Weight Training and Cardio

Atkinson works out with a personal trainer. “I train in UP [Ultimate Performance] four times a week for around 45 minutes to an hour. It’s no more than an hour for my weight training sessions,” she says on the UP blog. “I have two cardio sessions a week which can be anything from a long dog walk, to 45 minutes on the bike or cross-trainer, and I have one day where I do absolutely nothing, and I have a rest and recovery day. I think a lot of people assume you have to train for hours and hours, but our sessions are around 45 minutes.”

4. Fitness Challenge

Atkinson’s workouts are designed to challenge her at every level. “The idea with Gemma’s training, because she already does a lot of training and has done a lot in the past, was just to refine it and ensure it was quality over quantity,” says her trainer Mark. “So when Gemma comes into the gym, we repeat a lot of the same exercises – split squats, deadlifts and a lot of big movements. Then what we do each week is ensure that Gemma is actually progressing; the weights are going up or we’re doing extra reps each time or an extra set. This is so that every week there’s some measurable progress. That way we can guarantee that over 12 weeks we’ve improved her performance.”

5. Balanced Lifestyle

Atkinson’s approach to fitness and health is to live a balanced lifestyle and not obsess about outward appearance. “I try to ignore what people say about my shape,” she tells Women’s Health. “We’re all in the gym to try to better ourselves. We may be at different starting points but the goal is the same. There should be more respect. I used to live off fast food, but had awful headaches and constant break-outs. It’s important to care for yourself from the inside out. Expensive creams won’t help if you’re dehydrated and not eating right. The weekend is my time to rest. I don’t train – I’ll go for long dog walks instead. If I fancy it, I’ll have pizza, pasta or a glass of wine. I aim for 80% what my body needs, and 20% what it wants.”

Cindy Crawford hasn’t aged in almost 30 years! On Tuesday the 55-year-old supermodel recreated her iconic 1992 Pepsi ad, slipping into an identical pair of denim Daisy Duke style shorts and a tight white tank. “It’s always a pleasure and a thrill to work with my friend @davidyarrow... and even more so when it's for a good cause. We returned back to the original Halfway House from the famous @pepsi commercial I did in 1992 to recreate the moment (with a David Yarrow twist) in hopes of raising funds for the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison Wisconsin where my brother was treated for leukemia,” she captioned an Instagram shot. “So far, with the help of David's gallery network across the globe supporting the art and its sales -- we've already raised 1 million dollars for the cause. I also have to thank my dear friend, hairstylist @peter.savic who did the iconic hair for the original commercial... so i was thrilled he was able to be here for this version as well! Thanks also to @samvissermakeup for makeup and @allowitzstyles for styling. I think we nailed it! Such a fun day –– I can't wait to show you more. 1. She Only Works Out a Few Times Per Week

Cindy doesn’t need a daily workout. “I work out with my trainer, Sarah Hagaman, three mornings a week. We do circuit training for the whole body using weights, some machines, and my own body weight with lunges and squats. We usually do about 10 minutes of weights and then a five-minute cardio segment. Right now we are into running stairs, but we switch it up. We repeat the 10-minute weight and five-minute cardio at least three times and then we finish up with abs and stretching,” she told Shape. “If I can squeeze in a hike or bike ride with my husband or a girlfriend during the week, that's just a bonus!”

2. She Keeps Herself Entertained While Doing Cardio

What is Cindy’s key to passing cardio time? Entertainment. “I put on an audiobook or music while I run the stairs at my house for 20 minutes. I just finished the Amy Schumer one, which was fantastic,” she told The Cut.

3. She Takes Exercise Classes

cindy-crawford-2Cindy Crawford/Instagram

Cindy enjoys working out with others. One of her favorite classes is at the S Factor pole dancing studio in LA. "[It's] so much fun to do with a group of friends," she explained to InStyle. "They keep it really dark, so it's almost impossible to feel embarrassed." She also enjoys hiking with friends. "Once a week, I try to go on a hike with a friend so I combine exercise and girlfriend time—it's the best multitasking," she added to The Cut.

4. She Pencils in Exercise

Scheduling her workouts keeps Cindy accountable. "I think having a scheduled appointment works for me. That way, I don't really have to think about it," she told Shape.

5. She Eats Clean

Cindy tries to eat a diet of whole foods with nothing processed. "Diet-wise, I don't eat crap, and I don't eat a lot of packaged foods," she told Into The Gloss. "On a typical weekday I usually have a protein shake for breakfast because it's fast—I need to get the kids out the door… For lunch I'll have salad, sometimes with chicken, sometimes without. For dinner we'll go for sushi, or if we eat at home I'll try to make a meal like turkey meatballs with pasta, a salad, and a vegetable."

6. She Hydrates

Cindy makes sure to get enough H20. “I also drink three bottles of water during the day, except for when I’m on location, as the bathroom could be 10 minutes away,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. You will also find her sipping on green tea, green tea lattes, and a shake she conducts herself with cup of almond milk, a cup of spinach, a handful of fresh mint, two scoops of Billy Merritt’s Infinity Greens, and protein powder.

7. She Does a Lot of Ab Work

Cindy keeps her abs strong with the help of an intense workout routine, which she recently shared on Instagram. It includes standing bicycle crunches, sumo squats, and planks.

Fitness model Emily Skye welcomed a baby 18 months ago, and finally feels like herself again. Skye shared a video detailing her journey back to fitness, emphasizing that while postpartum recovery does take time, it absolutely is possible. “My fitness journey over the past 18 months! To [those] who said I couldn’t do it, & that my body was ruined after having babies: It took time but I DID IT & I am stronger & fitter than I’ve ever been before & I’ve never loved my body more! I did it for ME & my family so I am my best mentally & physically. ☺️⁣ There’s so much that happens in between a ‘before & after’ - a LOT of hard work, sweat & tears!! I don’t train for an “after pic” anyway, I train for LIFE! 🙌🏼⁣.” Here’s how Skye stays fit and strong.

1. How To Get Those Abs

Skye encourages anyone who wants nice abs to try strength training. “It’s not about doing heaps of ab work,” she tells PEOPLE. “You can’t spot reduce. Work your whole body doing high-intensity interval training workouts and weights. A lot of women neglect [weight training] because they have this fear that weights will make them bulky, but it’s actually really good for getting that toned look. Plus it burns fat. You’ve got fat that sits on top of the muscle, so if you work the muscle and get it nice and toned, once you remove the fat you’re left with long, lean, toned muscles."

2. Typical HIIT Workout

Skye recommends doing HIIT circuits three times a week. Here is a routine she recommends, as told to PEOPLE:

  1. 30 seconds of squats
  2. 30 seconds of mountain climbers
  3. 30 seconds of V-ups
  4. 30 seconds of push-ups

“I’ll do those four exercises back-to-back with no rest, and that completes a round,” Skye tells the publication. “I aim for 10 rounds, but if you’re a beginner, you can aim for four or five rounds. I aim to have no rest at all, but if you’re a beginner, you can take 30 seconds to a minute of rest. If you want an efficient and effective workout, those circuits are great because you could do them in 20 minutes.”

3. No Crazy Diets

Skye enjoys a balanced diet and avoids drastic diet fads. “I don’t deprive myself, I eat a variety of whole foods,” she tells Trimmed & Toned. “I stick to almost a Paleolithic diet but include sweet potato, pumpkin, brown/black rice, natural yogurt & cottage cheese. My body and mind function far better eating this way. I don’t believe that diets, quick fixes and depletion diets are healthy for you and they put a lot of strain on your body as well as being unmaintainable. I keep a relatively lean body throughout the year and I’m always within a month of being ‘comp ready’.”

4. Eat Enough Food

Skye recommends avoiding processed foods for the most part—but she encourages women to eat enough calories to fuel their workouts. “Some things are okay in packets, but mostly processed foods are packeted, so stay with the fresh food section of the shop,” she tells PEOPLE. “If you stay there, you can’t go wrong. A lot of people don’t eat enough food. They think if they eat less or calorie-restrict they’ll burn more, but your body will adapt to that, which means it slows down your metabolism and will store food as fat. You’ve got to eat enough food to keep everything going.”

5. Mantra For Life

Skye’s personal mantra for life is based on forgiveness. “NEVER let what someone thinks or says about you define you, she tells Trimmed & Toned. “You know who you are better than anyone! Completely remove the negative and poisonous people from your life – to do that means to cut all ties with them physically and mentally. Make a conscious effort to not allow them to affect you in any way. Forgive these types of people for the person they choose to be and let them go. Holding onto hate and anger is not healthy and will only bring YOU down and subsequently makes you unhappy! Take control of yourself, your actions, feelings and your life. NOBODY can take away your happiness without your consent!”

Emily Ratajkowski is steaming things up south of the border – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the model dances around in a red bathing suit with her pal Ziwe, attracting lots of attention. “Escaped to Mexico just for TikTok,” she writes. “Guess we live here now.” How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here are 5 habits responsible for her gravity-defying body.

Yoga

Emily appreciates a zen form of fitness. “I don’t have a trainer, and I don’t really go to the gym,” she told The New York Times. “I’m just not a crazy fitness person. I’m definitely an outlier in the industry,” she added. “And doing yoga a couple of times a week is a really big part of my regimen.” There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness.

Baths

Emily regularly shares bath photos on her social media feed. found helpful in minimizing anxiety and depression. One recent study even found that they may even boast cardiovascular benefits. And did you know they are a form of exercise? According to Loughborough University research published in the journal Temperature, relaxing in a hot bath can burn as many calories as a 30-minute walk, about 140 calories.

Sleep

Emily makes sure to get a good night’s sleep "For me, the way I sleep afterwards is one of the main reasons to work out. I am always on my phone working and I think that's affected my sleep. I'm also really light-sensitive. When I work out, it's better than taking a melatonin. Because my body has worked hard, my brain finally rests and I think that is so valuable in this day and age — not to sound like an old geezer, but truly I feel that way," she told InStyle.

Long Walks

Gym Classes

You might find Emily in a group fitness class. “I'm one of those people who, if I go to the gym by myself, there's a 50/50 chance of me actually working out and really pushing myself, so the class environment works really, really well for me,” Emily told InStyle. “I am also someone who, even in a class, will get chatty and [distracted]. I think that’s the great thing about STRONG — the music keeps me really focused and in the zone,” she continues. “You just feel like you're, you know, Superwoman really pushing herself. You end up working harder and it's a better, more intense workout, without even noticing.”

Hayley Madigan is a fitness expert and influencer. She recently shared a video of herself lifting weights on Instagram, and included a hateful comment she received about not looking as good as a male in it. Madigan responded to the comment in the caption. “We couldn’t care less if men can lift more than us, we will NEVER STOP 👊🏼 We have the discipline to train for years and years and YEARS and yep still only being able to lift a weight that maybe a teenager boy can lift… This is the nature of being a woman and we aren’t crying about it… we are still in the gym every single week pushing ourselves regardless!”

She Lifts Weights

In her Instagram video, Madigan is seen lifting weights. ACE Fitness says that this has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

To build our confidence up and to actually feel SAFER AS A WOMAN! Comparing our ‘gains’ to those of men’s is just pointless, we couldn’t care less if you can lift more than us, we will NEVER STOP 👊🏼”
