Alessandra Ambrosio is getting her sweat on in a two-piece workout outfit. In a new social media post the supermodel flaunts her incredible figure in a sports bra and leggings. “Let’s shake it off the jet lag,” she captioned the Instagram Story. How does the 42-year-old approach diet and fitness? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
1. No Diets
Alessandra used to crash diet, but doesn’t go to extremes anymore. "After having Anja I only had three months to lose all the weight [before doing the 2008 Victoria's Secret show] and I was on this 1,200-calorie-a-day meal-delivery service that I hated. I couldn't do that again," she told The Edit.
2. Pilates
“It's important to break a sweat every day, and I love the way Pilates makes me feel long and lean," Alessandra told Glamour about her go-to workout. Research has found that Pilates exercises are designed to increase muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility, and to improve posture and balance. Experts maintain that it is a great workout for leaning out.
3. Yoga
“I love to do yoga as it centers me and also at the same time keeps me in shape," Alessandra told FOX News. "Since there is a lot to do around the house sometimes I don't have much time to work out, in which case I try to do some stretching and hold a plank for five to 10 minutes.” Harvard Health explains why yoga is a great workout. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”
4. Daily Exercise
Alessandra works out daily. "In my family, no one ever worked out. It wasn't until I did my first Victoria's Secret show that I started exercising...now that it's a healthy, normal part of my daily routine,” she told The Edit. She also works fitness into her family routine. "We love going to the beach, hanging in Malibu and playing volleyball… We like going rollerblading and biking, all kinds of things!" she added to People.
5. A “Bite” of Chocolate or a “Cocktail” on the Weekend

"Whenever I start to diet, everything goes downhill,” she told The Edit. “So if I want a little bite of dark chocolate on a plane or a cocktail with friends on the weekend, I'll have it. In fact, I'll drink a glass of red wine with dinner most nights, and two or three times a week I'll have a cup of tea and a cupcake with Anja, who's as obsessed with red velvet as I am.”
