Alexis Knapp is “mermaiding” in North Carolina – in her swimsuit. In a social media post from this summer, the Pitch Perfect star shows off her amazing body in a bathing suit. “Someone said it was #nationalbikiniday & I’ve been spending the last 4 days mermaiding so here’s minimal content. playing mermaid is much more fun than tanning,” she captioned the post. “You look gorgeous,” commented one of her followers. “This beach just got prettier,” added another. How does the actress approach health and wellness? Celebwell rounded up her top lifestyle habits.
1. Dancing
Alexis, who used to be a dancer, encourages movement. “Don’t be like me and move too infrequently and then it becomes life or death to reopen and loosen back up the body — consistency is the true life hack 🗝️🧬🤸🏻♀️💃🏻🪩 I grew up doing professional level dancing so that’s what my body requires to open back up - most don’t have to move as much or as deeply as I do to simply stay healthy,” she captioned a post. “Consistency is 🗝️ in every area of life - committing to string instruments is gonna be a tough one - Alex at marina music said yesterday, “guitar is a delayed gratification instrument” 😂🎶💪🏼 I know it. 2. Yoga
Alexis is a yogi. “Restorative yoga is one of the best things in the world. I want to live in a studio. I need to build one,” she said in a post. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”
3. Self Care
Alexis is all about self-care, which she says “is for whenever your authentic process & existence calls for it.” In the same post she revealed that she had a lymphatic drainage session, “by being compressed in a super suit - all technological.”
4. Hiking
Alexis enjoys being outdoors in nature. One of her favorite activities is hiking. “Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail you find yourself on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between,” says the National Parks Service. Some of the physical benefits include building stronger muscles and bones, improving your sense of balance, improving your heart health, and decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems. It also offers many mental health benefits, according to a Stanford University study.
5. Coffee
Alexis drinks her coffee “black,” she revealed in a post. According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are several benefits of drinking coffee in moderation. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.
