The gymnast posed with Simone Biles & Lindsey Vonn

Aly Raisman has become an inspiration for many. Not only is she an accomplished gymnast, she also is an advocate for victims of scxual assault. This got her an invite to Time Magazine’s 100 gala, where she met up with many other incredible people. Aly shared some highlights from the night on Instagram. She chose to wear a long red dress, looking stunning, and hung out with her friend and former teammate, Simone Biles, and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn. How does Aly Raisman keep herself in shape? Here are 5 of her wellness secrets.

1

She Wants To Know Where Her Food Comes From

Aly opened up about her diet in an interview with Women’s Health. She says that her love of gardening inspired her to start eating a plant-based diet. “It’s been really calming for me. It brings me a lot of happiness and allows me to practice gratitude for where my food is coming from…I always eat for a purpose and I’m always thinking in terms of what’s going to keep me energized.”

2

She Loves Soy Milk

One thing Aly incorporates into her diet is soy milk. She tells Women’s Health that she will put it in her coffee at breakfast and will make a dessert with it, frozen bananas, and chocolate chips. “Even just getting in a little extra protein in my coffee makes a difference for me,” Aly says. “Being mostly plant-based, it can be a little difficult to make sure I’m getting enough protein.”

3

She Loves Pilates

Now that Aly is no longer doing gymnastics, she has to find another way to stay in shape. She revealed to Shape that she loves doing Pilates. “I’m not able to do [Pilates] every day, as much as I would like to, just because I don’t physically have the stamina to do it,” she says. “But Pilates has really helped me with my workouts and even mentally, too, because I like how I can focus on different parts of my body, and it helps me feel more strong and confident.”

4

She’s Kind To Herself

Aly makes sure to be kind to herself. She encouraged others to do the same in an interview with First For Women. “Oftentimes we’re so hard on ourselves. But just know that you’re doing the best that you can. And know that if it’s hard to find a support system, that’s also normal. Not everyone in life is going to be understanding or supportive, but just don’t give up until you find the people in your life who will be there for you.”

5

She Sets Goals

Aly revealed to First For Women that gymnastics has taught her how to set goals and accomplish them. “When you’re passionate about something, I think that working towards a goal feels really good. I’ve learned that from gymnastics. It helped me be very detail-oriented and specific with what I was trying to accomplish each day.”
