Alyssa Milano is a very successful actress. She is known for her roles on the TV series, Who’s The Boss?, Charmed, and Mistresses. Milano also played Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway. She also hosted Project Runway All-Stars starting in the third season. Milano recently celebrated her birthday, and shared a selfie for the occasion on Instagram. She captioned it, “This is 52. No make up. No filters. Happiness. Sprinkle that sh*t everywhere. I love you all. Even the trolls. If you can hate a stranger—I can love a stranger. So…I love you. 🥰Edit: yes, my eyebrows are micro-bladed.” Here are seven ways Milano stays in shape.
She Limits Sugar
ShutterstockMilano revealed to People that she limits the amount of sugar in her diet. “When I cut out the sugar, which is a lot of what Atkins is about, my cravings went away. I try not to think of this as a diet because that sounds too restrictive. This is how I eat now. And I feel really good.” Milano also says that she has found healthier sweets to enjoy. “I go for the Atkins peanut butter cups. I just give myself a treat and know it’s not horrible for me.”
She Uses the Atkins Diet

Milano is open about being on the Atkins diet. She talked about this in an interview with The Los Angeles Times. “It was a slow, transitional process. I was gravitating in that direction but I wasn’t doing Atkins because I was concerned with, ‘Oh, I’d need to eat a lot of red meat for the protein.’ And I don’t eat red meat. But I found out that you can eat lean meats like fish and chicken and turkey, which is what I was already eating. And then it was an easy fit. I can do this forever. This is just super easy, I don’t have time to think about a meal plan. It’s all there. And I like the fact that I can be part of a community.”
She Loves Lettuce
ShutterstockMilano shared some of her favorite foods in an interview with Delish. She says that she loves incorporating letticus into her diet. "I find that it's just satisfying to wrap any kind of sandwich in a good piece of sturdy lettuce, like iceberg or butter lettuce. It gives it a nice crunch." The Cleveland Clinic states that lettuce is a great way to stay hydrated. “As much as 95% of lettuce’s weight comes from water. So, when you eat lettuce, you’re also quenching your thirst. And the high water content fills you up faster, helping curb hunger and prevent overeating.”
She Loves Taking Fitness Classes
Milano likes to take fitness classes to keep herself in shape. She shared her favorites in her Los Angeles Times interview. “I work out seven days a week,” Milano says. “I like classes. I do Zumba and a modern jazz class and Pilates. I’ve found out that you will do what makes you happy, and this makes me happy. I don’t enjoy working out with a coach.”
She Believes in Support
We used to live in a very village mentality, when women would come together and help each other through things. We’ve gotten so away from that … but I think it’s important to lift each other up. That’s also what I think maintains stability too. You are a lot less likely to make poor health choices. [Your community] would be disappointed if they saw you fail.
She Didn't Focus on Losing Pregnancy Weight
Health is Milano’s main priority. Especially after she had her second child. Milano talked about this in an interview with People. “I wanted to give my body time to adjust. But about six months after Elizabella was born, I started focusing on losing the weight and making sure I was healthy and at my best for my family.”
She Cooks
Milano likes to cook meals for her family. She shared her favorites in her People interview. “Some of my favorite things include parmesan-crusted chicken with cheesy cauliflower bake and tacos night with fresh guacamole. I have all the fixings and just use lettuce cups in place of tortillas. In fact, Atkins inspired me to learn how to cook for myself and my family using foods that are lower in carbs.”
