Ariana Madix in Bikini Is “Dancing Into 40”

Here is what we know about her approach to diet and exercise

Ariana Madix is celebrating her 40th in Fiji. In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her amazing body in a skimpy swimsuit in front of the sunset. “Dancing into 40,” she captioned an Instagram post. A few days earier, she shared another series of snaps. “Digital fijian postcard 💖🌴,” she captioned another post. “I’m still not over black haired Ari,” one person commented. “Our girl living the island dream.” How does the reality star approach health and wellness? Here is what we know about her approach to diet and exercise.

1

She Wears SPF

Madix told Byrdie that she protects her skin. “I never, ever skip my SPF. My bestie taught me the best combo: EltaMD regular and tinted mixed together for the perfect protection and skin tint. My biggest mistake was getting in tanning beds and rebuking SPF. I always tan and never burn so I thought I was somehow immune to the damage the sun can cause. I was very wrong and dealt with melanoma in 2018. Now you’ll never catch me without UV protection!”

She Does Strength Training

Ariana hits the gym for strength training sessions. “I spend most of my time in the gym converting kgs back to lbs bc everything is in metric here,” she jokes in a post. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and build lean muscle mass, and increase calorie burn. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Dancing

Ariana got in serious shape during her Dancing with the Stars stint. Dancing is an excellent workout for many reasons. It builds strength and promotes flexibility, helps you lose weight, and even promotes cardiovascular function. A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop or die from heart disease than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

She Hydrates

Madix is all about hydration, especially when she’s taking a flight. She shared her secrets for staying hydrated on flights to Byrdie. “I never fly without eye patches. Right now, I’m loving the Nip + Fab Hyaluronic Fix Extreme Jelly Eye Patches ($20). I put them on when we start our descent; it helps to look less dehydrated after flying. It’s not a product, but I buy the biggest bottle of water I can find in the terminal and make myself chug it.”

She Wants to Be a Role Model

Ariana wants to be a role model, she told SELF. “I am putting myself out there being on reality TV, but it’s really tough to be judged. Part of me feels like there are so many people who are just like me, and if I go away or if I’m not around or if it gets to be too much for me, then they won’t see anybody they can relate to. I definitely feel less alone because of everything I’ve been through on TV and through telling my story. I meet people all the time who have gone through similar things, and I think that’s a really big blessing that’s come from this experience: They, in turn, make me feel not alone.”
