Ashley Nocera, a well-known fitness influencer, has captured the hearts of her audience by combining humor and fitness. With a knack for making workouts fun, she often shares comedic videos that showcase her creativity and dedication to staying in shape. In a playful Instagram post from July, Nocera is seen lifting a barbell in various spots around her house—even on the roof. The video, captioned “When your parents tell you to clean the house 😅,” highlights her entertaining yet effective approach to fitness. Known for her engaging social media presence, Nocera inspires her followers to stay active and embrace a healthy lifestyle in a lighthearted and enjoyable way.

1. She Lifts Weights

In her Instagram video, Nocera is seen lifting weights. ACE Fitness states that this is very beneficial. “Using heavy weights increases intramuscular coordination, the number of type II motor units and the amount of muscle fibers engaged within a specific muscle. Have you ever felt your muscles shaking while lifting heavy weights? This is because you are recruiting and activating the larger type II muscle fibers, which are only stimulated to work when a muscle is challenged with heavy resistance or working to fatigue.”

2. She Does Burpees

Nocera likes to do burpees to keep herself in shape. She shared this video of herself and Carrie Underwood doing them on Instagram. Burpees are very beneficial. The Cleveland Clinic states, “Burpees are brutally efficient as a workout tool, meshing cardio and strength training into an extremely high-intensity package. In seven simple movements, the exercise works your body from top to bottom.”

3. She Hikes

Nocera likes to go for hikes to keep herself in shape. She shared these photos and a video on Instagram of herself hiking up stairs and on a trail. Nocera captioned the post, “The climb speaks to our character, but the view speaks to our soul 🫶🏼” Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

4. She Does Squats

Nocera likes to do squats to keep herself in shape. She included two videos in this Instagram post of herself doing them with weights. Nocera captioned the post, “Been working hard in the lab the last few weeks. Trying to make these booty gains 🍑 👊🏼” Allina Health reports that squats are very beneficial. “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong.”

5. She Swims

Nocera enjoys swimming to stay in shape. She shared these photos on Instagram of herself in the pool, captioning them, “Winters almost here.” The Mayo Clinic states that swimming is very beneficial. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

Fitness trainer Zuzka Light is certified in “integrative nutrition, oxygen advantage, movement & mobility, [and] somatic exercise.” Approaching 1 million followers on Instagram, she has a massive community online that she aims to inspire and motivate. “Join me in the ZGYM for daily training & Mobility at ZuzkaLight.com,” she said on Instagram on a series of photos and videos of her demonstrating mobility drills. Here’s what Zuzka does to maintain her health.

1. She gets a quick workout in

She squeezes in a quick workout session. “The 15 Minute Fit Slide workout series in the ZGYM is one of my favorites for strengthening abs and core. If you implement these workouts into your weekly schedule often, you’ll see great results,” she said on Instagram on a video of her going through the motions.

2. She motivates

She aims to motivate her community to just start being active. “To all my female friends and hard working women out there: It doesn’t matter what your starting point is. You can be a complete beginner, non athletic, not coordinated, and completely out of shape. You don’t have to be in shape to start exercising - that’s the whole point of doing beginner workouts at first,” she said on Instagram.

3. She enjoys hiking

She takes her sweet dogs on hikes and enjoys spending plenty of time outside getting some fresh air. She posted, “6 miles morning hike with Mia & Misha 🐶👧 Mia is still learning how to behave on hikes but she’s making great progress,” on Instagram, on a series of photos of her and her pups taking in the view.

4. She stays consistent

Zuzka Light.4Zuzka Light/Instagram

She remains consistent. “Do you get easily discouraged when you see slow progress? The people who are able to stay consistent with their diet and training are no different than you. They just think differently. This is what they do: 1. They are patient and focus more on healthy habits than on their goals. 2. When something is not working for them, they change their approach,” she said on Instagram. “3. They consider the consequences of instant gratification and frequently remind themselves that avoiding temporary discomfort, such as exercise, will lead to much greater pain in the future. 4. They reward themselves emotionally for every positive action they take. 5. They hype themselves up instead of constantly telling themselves how much they dislike sweating, exercising, or eating healthy.”

5. She works on her mobility

She works on expanding her mobility. “Does your mobility need some work? If you can’t touch your toes, having issues with chronic pain, or if you’re hitting a plateau in your strength training or calisthenics, then regular mobility workouts can really help with that,” she said on Instagram. “The human body was made to move, and the aches, stiffness and even pain that many people experience can be attributed to the fact that many people simply don’t move enough. Or, at the very least, they don't move in such a way that keeps the joints flexible enough to move through their full range of motion (ROM)—something that helps people maintain their independence as they age—throughout one’s life,” according to ACE Fitness.

Cullen shared some of her fitness secrets with VIP Magazine. She says that one way she works out consistently is by doing so in the morning. “I do my usual things, prep my gym gear for the morning, I get moving first thing when I wake up whether it be a walk, a run, a zoom class, yoga or just simple stretching. I find when you start your day off with some sort of movement this will help you keep you motivated.”

2. She Schedules Workouts

Cullen tells VIP Magazine that she likes to schedule workouts. “I also plan out my days, so for example it could be Monday run day, Tuesday mobility, Wednesday HIIT- get a little plan going. Set goals and little targets. I also keep in touch with my friends and we do things together. There are exercises with a chair, you can do exercises with 2 liter bottles of water, you don’t actually need equipment, all you need is a nice space, some water, and a good playlist and you can really get going.”

5. She Uses A Stationary Bike

Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Balanced Diet

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
