1. Outdoorsy Culture
Scott takes full advantage of the beautiful New Zealand climate to hike and spend time outdoors in Mount Maunganui as much as possible. “It is just unbeatable in its beauty, especially looking down from on top of the Mount,” she told Bon Voyaged. “I also love Cathedral Cove in the Coromandel and a great hidden gem is a walk to Homunga Bay near Waihi.”
2. I’m a Celeb Training
Scott appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2023 and says her training was intense. “My best friend has been like, ‘Now a lion’s running after you! Go, go, go!’ While I do these crawls on the floor,” she told News.com.au. “Then she’s like, ‘Now something else is taking you!’ While I’m trying to do pull-ups. Basically, we’ve been pretending I’m in the jungle at the gym.”
3. Food Training
Scott also made herself eat food she considered disgusting in preparation for her time in the jungle. “I hate seafood. And so I had to eat a mussel and then I had to eat raw salmon, which people seek out voluntarily,” she told News.com.au. “And both of those things, I was just gagging, retching, tears coming down my face. It took me about 10 minutes to get each one down.”
4. Rugged Beach Hikes
Scott loves the beautiful beaches of her homeland. “The beaches in New Zealand are all very wide and long and protected. You can't build cafes and restaurants on them so they stay very raw and rugged,” she told Bon Voyaged. “It’s a 4-8 hour hike that goes up and over Mount Tongariro volcano with other volcanoes right next to you. It looks as though you are walking through Mars but with tropical looking lakes dotted along. It would have to be one of the best day hikes in the world!”
5. Glass Half Full
Scott tries to maintain a positive outlook in life. "It's just my outlook on life is don't stress about things that you can't control because how is stressing going to help anything?” she told The Daily Dish. “So be happy and appreciate the things that are good and having a lot of gratitude," she said. "And then you realize that every day is awesome, you know?"
