The American South is home to many amazing singers—specifically, the region is known for country stars, specifically the Nashville and Texas area. Meanwhile, areas like Atlanta and Athens are home to rock, rap, and R&B musicians. Artists like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Kelly Clarkson are originally from a southern state. So what better time than now—when Houston, Texas star Beyoncé has just released her country album Cowboy Carter—to take a look about how they all stay so fit?

1. Kelsea Ballerini

Kelsea Ballerini is from Tennessee. She tells Bustle that skincare has become a lot more important to you. “I just pivoted into being pretty religious about my skin care, and the biggest game changer has been washing my face every night. That sounds like duh, but I used to just take a makeup wipe and let that be it — even though I’m on stage performing and sweating and wearing a lot of makeup.”

2. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is also from Tennessee. When it comes to fitness, the singer likes to create her own routines. “Outside of music, physical fitness is my most passionate creative outlet,” she said to Harper’s Bazaar. “I find so much fun in choreographing my workouts. I think there is a greater chance of maintaining a fitness commitment if you don’t think of it as work but as play.”

3. Kelly Rowland

I have no interest in searching backwards. The past is the past. I feel many aspects of that younger, less evolved Beyoncé could never [mess] with the woman I am today.”

The Real Housewives of New York alum Ramona Singer has some great advice about fitness and beauty—namely, walking as much as possible every day, at least 10,000 steps. Singer, 67, shared a picture of herself posing outside in Palm Beach, Florida, wearing lilac workout gear and a sun visor. “Loved walking 20K steps along the Lake Trail. Great to back for the season 🥰,” she captioned the post. Here’s how else the reality star stays fit and happy.

1. Weight Training

Ramona.SingerRamona Singer/Instagram

Singer completely overhauled her health and fitness routine and feels better than ever. “I’ve just been doing a lot of combinations," she told Us Weekly. "So I’ve been doing exhale which is all about core fusion. I do free weights. I do core training. I do tennis and I run intermittently. I run for a mile on the treadmill and it’s working.”

2. Vodka, Not Wine

Singer has switched from wine to vodka. “I’m not drinking so much wine anymore,” she told Us Weekly. “I love my wine, don’t get me wrong. I still drink the wine. But I started with vodka unless someone is going to order like a really good bottle of wine, I’m not going to drink that wine by the glass anymore for $15 or $20. I’m not wasting my calories on that. And I don’t eat dessert! I eat healthy. You are what you eat.”

3. Sunblock and Sleep

Singer says she always uses sunblock and gets over eight hours of sleep every night. "How you take care of your body on the inside is reflected on the outside," says Helena M. Schotland, M.D., a sleep disorders specialist at the University of Michigan. "I think of it as beauty from within. I would say it's good quality of sleep and good quantity of sleep. So it's getting as much refreshing sleep as you need so that you wake up in the morning feeling ready to go — and keep yourself going throughout the day without getting tired or sleepy.”

4. Beauty Tips

Singer says she did most of her cosmetic procedures in her 50s, aside from an eye lift when daughter Avery was a child. “First, just so you know, having anything done surgical on your face does not change the quality of your skin,” Singer said on her podcast. “I have really great quality of skin because I use anti-aging skincare products; I’ve used lasers and sunscreen… And the other thing that’s really important is drinking lots of water. I drink lots of water and I get nine hours of sleep every night. Most people get what? Six, seven [hours]? I need nine. And that’s what I think really keeps me young looking and youthful.”

5. Walking 10,000 Steps a Day

Singer gets 10,000 steps in every day and says fitness and beauty go hand-in-hand. “I’m gonna share it all. I’m gonna share all my secrets right now. How’s that?” Singer said on her Turtle Time podcast. “I think the No. 1 thing that’s most important is the way you look physically, meaning physically fit… There’s no secret to getting that [through] operations or surgery. You have to be physical. You need to work out. And it’s never too late to change your body. And I’ve helped some of my girlfriends change their bodies… Walking. Walking. Walking. Walking. Keep active. You have to keep active… If you have a good body, then you’re gonna look younger and you’ll feel better and you’ll have more energy.”

Australian fitness trainer and influencer Chontel Duncan is sharing her go-to back and bicep exercise routine with fans and followers. Duncan has five children and prioritizes fast, effective workouts, as shown in a recent Instagram video where she goes through the movements while wearing blue and gray two-piece workout gear. “Here’s a sneak peek of my back & bi’s session that Sam and I squeezed in with all five kids in tow! 💪🏽 Luckily, we’ve got a crèche at @hiit_capalaba to keep them safe and close while we get to work,” she captioned the post. Here’s how the busy working mom gets it all done.

1. Travel Workout Tips

Duncan doesn’t skip workouts when she’s traveling. “When I last traveled, I researched each location I stayed at,” she told Health and Fitness Travel. “I knew I wouldn’t always want to train at the hotel, so I found local gyms that provided day passes for circuit and HIIT style workout classes. Starting my day off with a workout and a good breakfast provided me with an incredible boost of energy to enjoy the adventures of the day. If you are sight-seeing, consider a walking or cycling tour, and look for local walking trails. Activities like swimming are great low intensity cardio exercise that gets your whole body moving. If you’re by the beach try water sports like snorkeling or surfing.”

2. Self-Care

Duncan makes a point of some alone time at the end of the day. “Each week I always make sure to allocate 30 minutes a day for ‘me time’ once my sons have gone to bed,” she told RUN Singapore. “I put my phone down and sit on the couch for some much needed zen time. The weekends are my time for family playing outside or swimming in the pool. Scheduling in personal time or self-improvement time ensures I take time out for myself and can recharge my batteries.”

3. She Has a Sensible Diet

Duncan is sensible about her diet, especially when she’s on vacation. “I never sacrifice an opportunity to enjoy local foods because of how ‘unhealthy’ it might be,” she told Health and Fitness Travel. “However, I do take some steps to ensure I am able to enjoy without overindulging and abandoning my healthy habits. Before you order your main, try ordering an entree of vegetables or salad. Once you have some food in your tummy, then make a decision on your main course. With every main meal that you order, try and add an additional serving of vegetables or salad for added fiber which will assist with digestion and help to prevent you from overindulging.”

4. Weight Loss Advice

Duncan has good advice for anyone trying to lose weight. "The foremost key to achieving successful weight loss lies in the harmonious integration of nutrition and training,” she told Nine Coach. “It's imperative to invest equal amounts of energy, time, and dedication into both facets. My second tip, if I were to offer another, underscores the importance of considering the sustainability of your approach. Ask yourself whether the path you're on is one you can envision yourself following consistently, even two years down the line. Sustainability ensures adherence, and this, in turn, leads to a more enjoyable and fulfilling journey toward your fitness goals."

5. The Back Routine

Here is the exact back and bicep routine Duncan shares:

“First 2 sets: Choose a weight I can just hit 12 reps with, followed by a 60-second rest between every set.

Set 3: Increase weight to hit 8 reps.

Set 4: Push for 6-8 reps with an even heavier load.

This approach is perfect when I’m feeling strong and have a trusty spotter for those last few reps! I powered through three back exercises and two bicep moves before the kiddos decided the workout was over! 🤣👶🏽”

Before she skyrocketed to Pussycat Dolls fame, the singer and dancer struggled with a severe eating disorder that almost derailed her wellbeing and career. In the years since, she has learned how to be the healthiest and happiest version of herself. Luckily, she is continually sharing her wisdom, tips, tricks, and secrets with her fans. Celebwell has compiled a list of her best tips on how to stay mentally and physically fit, and the photos that prove they work.

1. Make Smart Food Choices

Nicole believes in eating healthy—most of the time. “Don’t deprive yourself of anything because eventually you’ll crave it and then you might binge on it. Everything in moderation," she said to Women’s Health UK. "For breakfast I love eggs and toast and smoked salmon or bacon, or porridge. For lunch I like maybe some soup or some sushi. For dinner, anything from pasta to rice, and meats and veggies, to sushi. When I’m going to indulge, I love pasta, pizza, I love Mexican with lots of cheese. I love French fries, or crisps - salt and vinegar crisps. In terms of snacks: almonds, coconut water, bits of coconut, baby carrots."

2. Try Different Workouts

Pre-GRAMMY Gala and GRAMMY Salute to Industry Icons Honoring Sean "Diddy" Combs - ArrivalsJon Kopaloff/Getty Images

Nicole is all about mixing up her workouts, revealing to Women’s Health UK that she has a few go-tos. "In a typical workout I would run on the treadmill, maybe 20 mins, then try to do some squats, some sit-ups on the exercise ball, some yoga stretches. When I’m home I like to take a spinning class called Soul Cycle or I like to do hot yoga - a modified version of bikram yoga - or hiking, and core power yoga in LA." And of course, she dances! “I mean, I heard that dancing and laughing gives you better abs than crunches anyway,” she captioned a recent post.

3. Find a Workout Buddy

Need a little nudge to exercise? Enlist a workout buddy. "Me and my girlfriends support each other for the gym. Because, you know, it’s hard to be motivated sometimes, so when you go you push each other, - we try to do different things,” she told Women’s Health UK. "We’ll go hiking one day and then we’ll try a sculpting hot yoga class, then we’ll do a cardio. We just motivate each other."

4. Make Fitness Your Hobby

FOX Winter TCA All Star Party - ArrivalsRich Fury/Getty Images

Sure, it’s important to get a solid workout in. But for Nicole, staying active is a lifestyle. Her social media is filled with snaps of all some of her favorite outdoor activities, which include hiking, surfing, and jogging on the beach.

5. Use Exercise to Destress

MTV EMAs 2019 - VIP ArrivalsJeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Nicole uses exercise to promote her mental health. “I travel so much it’s so important for me to sweat it out. It’s not only for physical being, but mostly for my mental well-being. It keeps me centered, focused, strong and helps me get in the right frame of mind for my work ahead. Preparation is key. Prepare yourself so when the opportunity comes, you are ready!” she wrote on Instagram.

The Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer is enjoying the summer season at her house in the Hamptons. Singer, 67, shared a picture of herself wearing lilac tennis gear, posing next to a young instructor, her lush green yard in the background. “A stunning day in Southampton!!! Love rolling out of bed to have a tennis lesson on my court 🎾🎾🎾🎾,” she captioned the post. Singer may be off RHONY but she is still keeping busy—here’s how the reality star stays fit and healthy.

1. Portion Sizes

Singer enjoys plenty of protein in her diet and is mindful of portion sizes. “[Breakfast is] steel cut oatmeal, blueberries, strawberries (I love berries!), scrambled eggs or egg whites (sometimes I add in spinach or tomatoes to get in an extra serving of veggies!) and pair with whole grain toast,” she writes on her website. “When dining out, I like to split the main entrée with a friend (restaurant portion sizes are typically double what you should be eating) and then get a side salad full of lots of veggies.”

2. Personal Trainer

Singer uses the expertise of professionals for her health and wellness. “I felt it was important to hire a trainer; dieting can only do so much,” she told Allure. “I do like to eat, and sometimes I eat the wrong things. Sometimes I work out five times a week, sometimes once, sometimes not at all.”

3. Cardio Workouts

Fitness,Girl,Running,On,Treadmill.,Woman,With,Muscular,Legs,InShutterstock

Singer ups her cardio when she wants to burn more calories. “If I am ever looking to lose a little weight in a short amount of time I will cut out all bread and increase my cardio during workouts,” she writes on her website. “I love core training as my main form of exercise, I love using kettlebells and bocce balls, as well as alternating planks. I typically do cardio on my core training off days, about 1-2 miles on the treadmill is great for me!”

4. Weight Training

Ramona.Singer.1Ramona Singer/Instagram

Singer has switched up her workouts to focus more on strength-building. “As I got older, I started getting into free weights,” she told Allure. “I always look up to women who are older who look great. Jane Fonda was alway my inspiration for my body. She was one of the first ones who used weights. So once I turned 30, I started lifting weights, and I stopped doing as much aerobic exercise.”

5. Favorite Workout

Singer shares her favorite workout on her website:

3 sets of 20 reps

  • Reverse lunge and press with 10 pound kettlebell weight
  • Triceps push downs with 30 lbs
  • Use a 20 lb kettle bell swinging 20 times each arm (do 20 reps)
  • V’s with arms and legs on a mat with 15-30 lb bar weight
  • Planking on bosu ball with feet on the ball so they are raised off the floor for one minute

1. Lift Weights

Kim has always been known for her curves, but it wasn’t until she started working out with bodybuilder Melissa Alcantara that she achieved her best body ever. "I’ve been working out really hardcore with a bodybuilder for one year. September is our one-year anniversary,” Kim told E! News in 2018, via People. Kim lifts “heavy weights,” according to her trainer who told Women’s Health that 85% of their training is done with weights and just 15% is cardio.

2. Hit the Gym Every Day

Kim works out every day. “I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day,” she told E! News. She added to Vogue that she sleeps for just five hours, waking up at 5:30 am to hit the gym.

3. Work Out Even When You Don’t Feel Like It

Kim doesn’t make excuses when it comes to her workouts. "Just like anybody else, there are days where Kim's not really feeling it, but she will do it," her trainer told People in 2020. "Then there are a lot of days when she's killing it! She never questions the stuff that I make her do, she's just like, 'Okay,' and I love that."

4. Sprint Instead of Jog

Instead of running for miles on the treadmill, Kim relies on short and fast sprints. "Been sprinting every day!" she wrote in one of her Instagram Stories in 2021. "I've been seeing changes!"

5. Eat Lots of Plants

Kim’s diet was once heavily meat-based, but she has been gravitating toward plant-based living for the past few years. "My 40s are about being Team Me. I'm going to eat well,” she told Vogue. "Plant based and two workouts a day for 30 days to get our mind and body right this year!" she wrote in a January 2021 Instagram post.

6. Set Yourself Up for Workout Success

Kim workout preps to make her mornings easier. “I will lay my clothes out the night before so when I sleep in, I’ll wake up at 5.53[am] instead of 5.45, and I just know my outfit is there,” she said. “I have a toothbrush and my toothpaste all ready to go, laid out by my sink. I just have to brush my teeth and go to the gym.”

7. Fuel Up Right for Workouts

Baked,Chicken,Breast,With,Sweet,Potatoes,And,Spinach,On,AShutterstock

"My trainer Mel always says that before and after you train, you should eat simple carbs, like sweet potatoes, and small amounts of fat and protein, like chicken. You should also have veggies with your meals, since you need them to help effectively break down and absorb your protein, fat, and carbs,” she wrote on her app in 2018, according to Harper's Bazaar.

8. Try LISS Workouts

Celebrity Sightings - Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022/2023Robino Salvatore/GC Images

Kim is also into LISS workouts. "Two days out of the week we’ll do steady-state cardio," Alcantara explained to WH, "so just walking at a steady pace on the treadmill for usually around 20 minutes. Nothing getting the heart rate too high."

9. Eat Real Food

Kim eats clean. "I want her to eat real food that’s cooked every day," Alcantara told People. "Most likely if it comes out of a box, it’s not going to be good for you."

10. Goal Set

WSJ. Magazine 2021 Innovator Awards Sponsored By Samsung, Harry Winston, And ReÃÅmy Martinamie McCarthy/Getty Images

“When I work with Kim, we like to set goals that we can feel good about reaching,” Alcantara explained to Women's Health. “Once we have a goal set, we write it down. I’ve found that helps hold you accountable. And, it feels amazing when you do finally reach your goal!” "Rather than identify six or seven goals, select and focus on one simple thing you can change today. For instance, identify a single thing related to your diet, such as cutting out sugary drinks and increasing your water intake. If you are someone who drinks multiple sodas daily, you can lose upward of 10 pounds a year by reducing your intake by one soda per day, even if you change nothing else. This is a perfect example of creating success for yourself by just changing one thing," says the Mayo Clinic.

In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

Abigail Ratchford’s amazing body has helped her become one of the most famous models on the internet. The 32-year-old, who boasts over 9.1 million followers on Instagram alone, attributes her measurement-defying body to a few simple habits. Here is everything she does to stay fit at 32.

She Follows 4 Diet Rules

Abigail swears that abiding by simple rules helps her stay in shape. “I can’t diet. That just doesn’t work for me,” she told New Beauty. “I started to be healthier by first cutting out soda. Then, I stopped eating after 7 p.m. Finally, I started really watching my portions so I was eating fewer calories every day. And water—lots and lots of water.”

She UsesMyFitnessPal

Abigail explains being accountable for what she eats is crucial. While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Pilates

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Balanced Diet

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
