British-Indian actress Sophie Choudry is preparing for some important events by getting her workouts in early and setting the tone for a great week. Choudry, 42, shared an Instagram picture of herself wearing a white sports bra and green leggings, taking a selfie at the gym. “Big week ahead and I’m ready for it. Are you?” reads the text over her post. How exactly does the star not only look so youthful but also fit and strong? Here’s what Choudry’s diet and wellness regimen looks like.

1. Breakfast, Always

Healthy,Breakfast,Toast,With,Avocado,SmashShutterstock

Choudry never skips breakfast and tries not to eat after 8 p.m. “I wake up in the morning and start my day with a cup of my own detox tea, Fittox, which is really good and I genuinely swear by it,” she told Telegraph India. “It’s a great way for me to start my day. Breakfast is super important, that’s the meal I look forward to. It can be eggs and toast or avocado on toast or almond milk porridge with some berries. I have a green tea with it… Never miss your breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day. Keep your dinner light and try not to eat after 8 p.m.”

2. Pilates For Life

Choudry is passionate about Pilates, which is a key part of her workout routine along with weight training. “I am a big fan of Pilates,” she told The Quint. “I have been doing it with Yasmin [Karachiwala] since the last seven years. My mother used to do it in London, so I have knowledge about it since my childhood. It has really changed my life. It has made me healthier and it has made me aware of my body, so I loved this initiative [Pilates Festival of India] because awareness about Pilates is increasing in India. People are curious about it and want to gain knowledge about it.”

3. Consistency Is Key

Choudry’s biggest health and fitness tip is consistency. "I don't believe in extreme dieting or extreme workouts,” she told The Quint. “My motto has always been consistency. I feel fitness has to be a part of your lifestyle and it should come naturally to yourself. Then, you will not find it difficult and you will not treat it as a chore. I feel one should work out every day -- whether it is dance, yoga, swimming or anything else, make it a part of your life.”

4. Skincare Tips

Choudry is diligent about taking care of her skin. “Nothing is more important than taking care of your skin,” she told Hello! India. “Start using an eye cream in your 20s. Don’t neglect your lips or your neck. Never sleep with makeup on. Change your products depending on how your skin feels. Don’t pick on your skin and blemishes; go to a professional for that. Invest in your skin! What also reflects on your skin is your diet and lifestyle. You need to workout regularly, eat right, avoid dairy and refined sugar, and drink lots of water and herbal teas. All of these make a tremendous difference!”

5. True Beauty

Sophie.ChoudrySophie Choudry/Instagram

Choudry believes true beauty comes from within. “It’s so much more than just physical attributes,” she told Hello! India. “It’s the positive energy and aura someone carries with them that is magnetic, the ability to be true to themselves and someone with a pure heart—all of these things reflect on your face. That’s what makes some more beautiful than those with just perfect features and not much else.”

1. She Says "Take 20 Minutes a Day" for Physical Activity

sophie-choudry-maldivesSophie Choudry/Instagram

During the worst of lockdown, Choudry posted a message. "With everything that’s going on I haven’t been as motivated as I usually am. But I decided I need to snap out of it & realised even 20 mins of physical activity a day can make a world of difference! So while we are consumed by so many emotions & trying to stay safe, take time out for yourself!! Let’s Go💪🏼" she captioned a video of herself on a trampoline. Eva Longoria is another trampoline fanatic. "Saturday plans 👟💪🏽☀️" she captioned one image, rolling hers out for use.

2. She Hits The Beach

Choudry loves to enjoy time at the beach, and swimming in the ocean. She posted this photo of herself in the water on Instagram. Even if it's winter where you are, head out. "Walking and running are the easiest of the outdoor exercises to keep up during the cold winter months as they don’t really require much in the way of extra gear or certain conditions. As long as it’s not too cold, you can pretty much put on your shoes and, with some extra preparation, hit the road," says the Mayo Clinic. "Just be careful about sidewalk conditions: surfaces can often be uneven which can cause injuries if you’re not paying attention. And do your best to keep to clear sidewalks as snow and ice can make things even more treacherous."

3. She Does Pilates

Choudry posts a lot of photos and videos of herself working out on Instagram. One of her go-to workouts is doing Pilates. She posted this video of herself doing the teaser Pilates pose with a bar, and holding it. She captioned the video, “Teaser. No seriously, that's what this exercise is called!”

4. She Does Yoga

Entertainment India 2010Prodip Guha/Getty Images

Choudry revealed on Instagram that she has started to practice yoga, and that the pandemic really made her pick it up. She wrote in the caption, “Even though I’m more of a Pilates girl, this past year has made me appreciate the importance of stretching & breathing for your mind, body & soul. Happy Yoga Day.” "When you’re first getting started with your home yoga practice, there’s nothing wrong with following along with an app or a video. But know that you have the option to create a more personal practice once you feel comfortable enough to do so. You don’t have to do a 30- or 60-minute flow-based session every time. You can do a couple of yoga poses and meditate, you can stretch do and breath work or you can meditate the entire time. The ultimate goal is to create a practice that serves you," says the Cleveland Clinic.

5. She Works Out Her Lower Body

Choudry doesn’t skip leg day, or other lower body exercises. She has posted videos on Instagram of herself working out her lower body at the gym. In this video, she is seen doing kettlebell squats and raises, kettlebell lunges, and lunges with an exercise ball. In this video, she is seen doing donkey kicks and squats with a friend. "There are many reasons for keeping the legs strong including reducing fall risk, improving metabolism, and getting out of a chair with more ease. Additionally, according to a British study done on twins, published in 2015, there is also a link between brain health and leg strength," says the Mayo Clinic.

Sophie Grace Holmes is getting her sweat on in the morning – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the marathon runner shows off her svelte figure wearing a sports bra and leggings in a mirror selfie. “Gym session this morning,” she wrote across the Instagram Stories image. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Has Cystic Fibrosis

Sophie was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at four months old and was told she might not live past 16.“Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects your lungs and digestive system, inherited from birth - although I was actually diagnosed very late,” she told Women’s Health. She added to Strava that she ended up in the hospital at 19 and was told by doctors she "only had a couple of years to live,” she said. “I think this is where the power of naivety can sometimes kick in. I sat there in the hospital thinking ‘I don’t believe you. I don’t have time to die. There are all these things I want to do with my life.’”

Running "Saved My Life" She Says

“Running saved my life. If I hadn’t gone on my journey and decided to challenge myself through running in different ways, who knows whether or not I’d still be here today,” Sophie told Strava. “I believe fitness saved my life, because it’s given me experiences and memories, and it’s also shown me what I am capable of. My happiest times and my happiest memories have been the ones where I've been leaning into the most discomfort.”

Goal Setting

Sophie recently revealed that her goal for 2025 is to complete “12 challenges in 12 months,” she wrote in a post. “I thrive and love big challenges but next year is about being able to achieve smaller but just as significant goals throughout the year to fit into life and staying fit and strong simply say YES to anything. The main goal being I want to see how fast and strong of a runner I can become and add in some different types of adventure to take me back to the mountains, trying new things to push me out of my comfort zone and with few things set already and a dream race in place which I’ll talk about soon its turning into an incredible year. And Also the building blocks to get as strong as I can ready for the big challenge I want to do after…I love setting goals.”

Swimming

As part of her workout split, which she shared on Instagram, Sophie swims. “Weeks out from @newyorkcity_marathon,” she wrote. Why does she swim? “I swim for recovery and to reduce impact plus benefits for my engine and lungs for running,” she said in the post. She does two 30 minute swims per week. Swimming is a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity, according to the CDC. Just two and a half hours per week of aerobic physical activity, such as swimming, bicycling, or running, can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses. In addition to the many physical benefits, there are multiple studies supporting the mental health benefits of swimming as well.

Hiking

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems

Bollywood star Disha Patani is showing fans and followers exactly how she uses the weight room at the gym to get her enviably strong and toned physique. Patani, 31, shared a video of herself wearing purple shorts and a cream hoodie, doing barbell squats (and making it look easy). “Leg day,” she captioned the post. “Inspirational,” a fan commented. Patani’s video is a great example of how important weights are for women—here’s how the actress eats, trains, and lives to be her fittest self.

1. Weight Training and Cardio

DishaPataniDisha Patani/Instagram

Patani works out with trainer Rajendra Dhole. “Disha by far is the most dedicated person you will meet when it comes to fitness. She trains every day for an hour. The only day she takes an off is a Sunday,” Dhole told Vogue India. “Disha does squats, deadlifts, military presses, shoulder presses, chest presses, bicep curls, tricep extensions, to boost muscle strength for her arms. Low reps with heavy weights builds muscle mass, as compared to doing more reps with lighter weights, which increases muscle endurance.”

2. Her Fittest Self

Patani mixes up her workouts so she doesn’t get bored, and she isn’t afraid of weights. “I work out every day and my routine usually involves cardio in the mornings, like dancing, kick boxing or gymnastics, and weight training in the evenings," Patani told Vogue India. “The general assumption is that women working out involves cardio, not weight training. But we all work out and do heavy weights; I come across so many girls in the gym training really hard. At the end of the day, it isn't about gender, but about working on your body and becoming your fittest self."

3. Personal Style

Patani’s style is all about what’s comfortable and unique. “I am not really into labels or brands, what’s important is how you style it,” she told Elle India. “I prefer simple and easy-to-wear clothes. To sum it up, my personal style is comfortable, sexy and sporty. I like things that are close to my heart. For instance, the evil eye bracelet I wear on my hand.”

4. Eggs Before Exercise

Chicken,Eggs,In,Carton,Box,On,Wooden,Table.Shutterstock

Patani tries to get some protein in her before a workout. “I have fallen into this bad habit where I don't eat anything in the mornings before working out, because I feel very full while exercising if I do,” she told Vogue India. “But, it is definitely advisable to cram in a small meal before a workout, consisting of some protein, like eggs. After exercising, it is good to add protein again, either through chicken, eggs or paneer.”

5. Abs-olutely Fabulous

So how does Patani get those enviable abs? “There is no secret as such,” she told Vogue India. “It's all about an intensive ab workout and a strict diet. Maintaining abs is the most difficult thing as one day you have them and the next day they may disappear. So I strongly believe a rigorous workout and a healthy diet are the only ways to maintain abs.”

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty is starting the new year with yoga and positivity. Shetty, 48, shared a video of herself wearing a pink and purple yoga outfit, posing on a teal blue mat. “I’m starting 2024 on a ‘balanced’ note with the Ashwa Sanchalana Salamba Utthita Eka Padasana, which is a great balancing asana🧘🏻‍♀️ It helps improve focus & concentration, and also enhances the coordination between mind & body. It also improves the back’s and the hamstring’s flexibility. Please note: People suffering from back pain or slip-disc and pregnant women must avoid this asana. Wishing you all a Happy, Prosperous, and Healthy New Year... My resolution for 2024 is to LIVE IN THE ‘NOW’ with awareness, balance, and gratitude,” she captioned the post. Here’s how Shetty takes care of herself, inside and out.

1. Sharing Her Ab Workouts

Shetty frequently shares her workouts on social media, including her intense ab exercise routine. “Recipe for washboard ABS: Planks, Planks, & More Planks💪,” she captioned an Instagram video. “This workout trains the entire body, primarily driven by the core muscles. Stimulate all your muscles by performing these 3 exercises for 3 sets and 15-20 reps.

1) Extended Arm Plank: Hip Extensions

2) Side Elbow Plank: Hip Dips

3) Elbow Plank: Hip Abduction and Adduction

It strengthens the core, arms, legs, shoulders, & back muscles; and builds muscular endurance.

Can be done at home with just a mat on days you are running short of time, but want to move that body as it takes only 20 mins. Caution: Do not try this if you are a beginner.”

2. Yoga and Meditation

Shetty is a long time devotee of yoga and meditation. “Asanas like Setu Bandhasana strengthen the Vishuddhi chakra (Throat chakra) that helps one voice their opinions & thoughts, and gives clarity of communication,” she captioned an Instagram video of herself doing yoga poses on a mat. “The Ardha Halasana and Navasana help strengthen the Manipuraka chakra (or Solar Plexus chakra), which determines one’s self-confidence and the ability to take action. Eat clean, lead a healthy lifestyle, and make yoga-meditation an integral part of your daily routine. Your mind and body will thank you ♥️🙏.”

3. Fitness Is Her Target

Shetty says her entire workout regimen is about health, not the “perfect” body. “I’ve never given a good figure too much importance,” she tells Complete Wellbeing. “Fitness was more my target. I went to the gym not to look good but to feel good and be fit. I worked out and I wanted to maintain a healthy body. Like Bhagavan says, [Bhagavan is the founder of the Oneness University] if you want to be successful, if you want to achieve something in life, you need to be fit. If your immunity is low, it’s not going to allow you to work as hard as you would otherwise have. It stems from this understanding.”

4. Healthy Diet With a Cheat Day

Aloe,Vera,On,Wooden,TableShutterstock

Shetty enjoys a healthy diet with one day a week for any indulgences. “I am a foodie. I love food, but I eat the right food,” she tells Complete Wellbeing. “I have a healthy diet. I keep one day in the week when I eat anything like cakes, kulfi, and gulab jamuns. My day starts with aloe vera juice. It is great for your immune system; it’s great for your skin. Then I have porridge and tea. I avoid white sugar as far as I can and have only brown sugar. My theory is to replace everything white with brown — be it brown bread, brown rice, or brown sugar. I don’t eat steamed or boiled food. I eat normal food but cooked in a healthy vegetable oil or olive oil. For lunch, I have dal rice [brown] or chapati and chicken curry and one vegetable. If I am hungry in the evening, I’ll have one brown toast with two eggs and tea and, at night, I try and eat early. I eat a salad, soup and one chicken dish. My diet is very simple. It’s easy to follow.”

5. Fitness Challenge

Shetty loves challenging herself and posting the results online. “Failure is a stepping stone to success. Keep trying, push yourself, but never give up,” she captioned a humorous Instagram video. “Today, I took up the #StandUpChallenge! It tests one’s mobility, which is the ability to move your entire body freely and normally. It encompasses muscle strength, range of motion, and endurance capacity helping you with great mobility. It took me a couple of tries (as you can see😋) but, I believe failure is funnier than success.”

Leonie Hanne is living her best life in Thailand – in her swimsuit. In a new social media post, the German model flaunts her fantastic figure in a $750 Missoni bathing suit while enjoying a boating day in the tropics. “She dreamed of a tropical adventure 🦋,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. “Stunning,” commented one of her followers. ”So beautiful,” added another. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Coffee

Leonie enjoys the perks of caffeine. In one of her posts from Thailand, she drinks a cup of coffee at the poolside. According to the Cleveland Clinic, drinking coffee in moderation has several benefits. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Pilates

Leonie does Pilates at the super exclusive London studio Pilates in the Clouds. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress, and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

At-Home Workouts

Leonie tries to get a workout in daily, preferably in the morning. I still try to get up early to maintain a sense of routine. I start every day with a quick at-home workout and a homemade acai bowl, before starting work on emails and content creation. I’ve been getting really into TikTok lately, it’s funny and keeps me feeling energised!” she told Arcadia.

Community

It takes a village, according to Leonie. “Community is key! The people you surround yourself with are more important than ever, as we are all trying to find ways to stay connected without being physically present. Speaking to people either on the phone or through social media can shift your mindset and motivation more than ever before,” she says.

Small, Healthy Habits

Leonie focuses on maintaining small, healthy habits. “Do something every day that brings you joy. Even if that means having something small to look forward to, like having your favourite snacks around the house or changing into an outfit that makes you feel good about yourself,” she says.

In a new social media post, the Love Island beauty shows off her fantastic figure in a swimsuit during a tropical vacation at Kandima Maldives with Josh Ritchie. “Island life,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps taken at the picturesque resort. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

She Doesn't Go Under the Knife

Sophie claims she hasn’t gone under the knife. “It’s your own body, you can do what you want to,” she told Grazia, weighing in on the show’s reputation for girls getting work done. “I wouldn’t have surgery myself; I don’t want it. I’ve got such a low pain tolerance as well; I’d be squirming around.”

She Gets Her Steps In

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Sophie loves paddle boarding. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) agrees that paddle boarding is great for the core and cardio. Water sports can burn an average of 385 calories for a 140-pound male and 436 calories for a female of the same size, per a study conducted by Arizona State University.

She Skis

When Sophie hits the mountains, she throws on a pair of skis. “Ski club,” she captioned a photo. Research has linked downhill skiing to several health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, the prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress, and the occurrence of memory deficits decline.

She Loves Group Fitness

“You’ve got to be body confident,” Sophie told Grazia. One of her favorite sweat methods? Group fitness. “A few gym classes can’t hurt,” she said.

She Goes Snorkeling

On her recent Maldives vacation, Sophie and Josh snorkeled in the crystal clear water. Surprisingly, putting on a snorkel and fins and swimming through the water is a great workout. In addition to being a great aerobic exercise and burning calories, other health benefits may include improved cardiovascular function, stress reduction, mood enhancement, and muscular toning.

Tammy Hembrow is a fitness influencer and expert. She has her own app, called Tammy Fit. Hembrow has a lot of challenges on her app. Recently, she advertised a challenge with a workout video on Instagram. Hembrow captioned the post, “We are 3 days into our first @tammyfitapp challenge of the year & I am more motivated than everrrrr. (Sign ups are still open if you haven’t joined yet - there’s still time to catch up!! - link in bio). Soooo happy seeing so many of my girlies (and guys) in this challenge doing it with me!! And I CANNOT wait to see everyone’s results at the end of the 8 weeks. We got thissss 💪🏼”

She Does Pulldowns

Hembrow is seen doing pulldowns in her Instagram video. Piedmont reports that pulldowns have a lot of benefits. “The lat pulldown is a fantastic exercise for strengthening the latissimus dorsi muscle, the broadest muscle in your back. This muscle promotes good posture and spinal stability. Form is crucial when performing a lat pulldown to prevent injury and reap the best results.”

She Lifts Weights

Tammy Hebrew is seen using dumbbells.

Tammy Hebrew/Instagram

Hembrow is seen doing a lot of exercises with weights in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that using weights to workout has a lot of benefits. “Strength training with heavy weights improves muscle definition. Muscle definition occurs as the result of muscles remaining in a state of semi-contraction and heavy strength training recruits the larger type II muscle fibers responsible for a muscle’s appearance.”

She Tracks Her Meals

Hembrow likes to track her meals on her app. She talked about the benefits of this in the caption of this “What I Eat In A Day” Instagram video. “Make sure to take advantage of the calorie/macro tracking features in the @tammyfitapp during this challenge guys. It can be really helpful in reaching specific goals quicker.
