Carly Rowena Just Shared "The One Thing That Has Really Helped" Her Live a More Honest Life
Carly Rowena is a YouTube star, mentor, retreat host, and shares honesty on social platforms, which seems like a foreign concept nowadays. She shares her words of wisdom with her 187K followers, like on her stories recently, when she shared some things that help her mental clarity. What exactly are these tricks she has for staying in a good headspace? We're sharing them here in case you missed it!
She clears her mind
She shared on her social media stories, "having tab where I write down my honest & ugliest thoughts helps me work through what is fact & what is fiction & what I can change," while an arrow points to a folder labeled "what's killing me." According to the Cleveland Clinic, "in general, people who meditate are more likely to see the following benefits [like] decreased symptoms of anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), improved ability to think, concentrate and solve problems, better ability to adapt to and overcome emotional problems. Because mental health has a strong impact on the health of your body, those benefits also often bring improvements in how well you sleep, high blood pressure and heart function, and much more."
She drinks coconut water
In a post on her stories, she shared a photo of a cracked open coconut with the caption, "this one thing has really helped me, so I want to pass it onto you…" According to the Cleveland Clinic, "drinking coconut water can be a part of a healthy diet as it helps you stay hydrated while being low in calories and being free of fats and cholesterol. Before you crack open a bottle of coconut water, make sure you are aware of how it might affect those with high blood pressure and other conditions."
She writes it down
She said on her stories, "write down your expectations vs. reality. Your facts vs fairytales. Write down everything you are telling yourself or believing is true & then challenge it with your actual reality. Most of us are living in a fairytale, reality is where change happens." In other words, confront your reality head on.
She values family time
On an Instagram video of her eating pizza and playing in a waterfall with her child, she said, "it was Jax's last day at school, they had all gone to a local restaurant to learn how to make pizza. When I picked her up she said 'Mummy can I take you on a date to my secret waterfall?' We said goodbye to her teacher for Summer, drove down the hill, parked & Jax excitedly took me on her secret route – telling me to watch out for spiders webs 🕸️! When we got the spot she got her homemade pizza out of her bag & told me how she made it & then asked for a cuddle in the waterfall. New core memory unlocked." How adorable!
She tries not to lie to herself
She said on her stories, "lying to yourself is really easy. Telling yourself you want to be with that person when actually you don't (visa versa). Telling yourself you want to work when you actually want to be with your kids. Telling yourself you don't have any money because of XX when really it's because of XX. Lying protects us from facing our own truths which protects us from making a change."
