What exactly is the fisherman aesthetic? Pinterest Predicts defines the trend perfectly: "In 2025, Gen Z and Gen X will embrace a laid back maritime attitude and bring a sea la vie take to everything—even if the ocean is nowhere in sight. Get ready for cable knit sweaters, sardine tattoos and stripes. on. everything."

People are already hooked and getting their mood boards in order. Lovers of the trend are specifically searching for cable knit sweaters, fisherman sandals, the raincoat outfit aesthetic, and fish bags on Pinterest.

How To Dress Like a Fisherman

What else should you shop for in order to create a fisherman inspired look? You'll need slouchy button-downs, cozy crewnecks, and nautical striped clothing. It seems like stripes of any kind are an absolute staple in the fisherman aesthetic as well—and not just the white and blue patterns!

As for outerwear and footwear, rain jackets and utility jackets are totally having their moment.

Oh, and don't forget some nautical-themed jewelry, such as anchors, shells, starfish, and such, to pull your look together.

Celebrities Who Love the Fisherman Aesthetic

Let's take a look at what some A-listers are wearing to get the creative juices flowing just in time for spring and summer.

Several celebrities, including Gigi Hidad and Hailey Bieber, have jumped on the hot trend, just to name a few. We've also seen Gwyneth Paltrow sporting white linen pants with a white-and-black striped sweater and fisherman sandals. The celeb recently posted an Instagram carousel rocking a light blue button-down, which is right on target, too.

Katie Holmes rocked a nautical-inspired tote bag while on a walk. InStyle included a photo of her with it in their compilation of the celeb's street style. She chose a white tote with red trim and her initials in red lettering. Katie paired the bag with wide-leg slouchy jeans, a light green coat, and sneakers. She topped off the look perfectly with a green coat.

If you want a pair of stylish footwear, fisherman sandals are the way to go. Katie Holmes is a big fan of them and wore them recently in New York City. According to photos from InStyle, the shoes weren't the only fisherman-esque clothing she sported that day. She paired her light brown sandals with gray sweats and a tan slouchy shirt. As always, Katie looked extremely chic.
