Charli Collier is a professional basketball player known for playing for the Dallas Wings. Last November, she shared a video of herself in the gym. In it, Collier is seen using weights, using an agility ladder, and using battle ropes. She wore different sets of workout gear in the post. Collier captioned the post, “Lately…. still at it, still at it.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Charli Collier stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Plays Basketball

Basketball is the main way Collier stays fit, and the sport has a lot of benefits. Fitness Advisory states, “Basketball, in its purest form, is essentially another aerobic exercise that helps you burn a great deal of calories. For each hour of basketball, you can expect to burn somewhere between 600-900 calories, depending on your weight and the intensity of your pace.”

2. She’s Grateful

Collier is very grateful for her life. She talked about this in an interview with D Magazine. “On this big stage it’s easy to get caught up in what’s not going your way, but I have to count my blessings,” Collier says. “There are a lot of things I am thankful and grateful for. It’s a unique situation, and when the opportunity presents itself wherever I am in the W—because I am going to be in the W for a while—the people are going to see that.”

3. She Wants To Be A Good Person

Collier tells D Magazine that she wants to be a good person. “At the end of the day, everyone knows what I am capable of,” she says. “I am here for a reason, obviously, and I’m going to be here for a long time. People know—prior to the WNBA—me outside of basketball, I am good to people, and I feel that’s important. The way you treat people, they’ll always remember that. Whether I am playing one minute, two minutes, whatever, they’ll always know Charli Collier overall is a good person.”

4. She Strength Trains

In her Instagram video, Collier does a lot of strength training exercises. She is seen doing tricep curls with a weight, using battle ropes, and using a landmine. The Mayo Clinic states that strength training has a lot of benefits. “Strength training can help you manage or lose weight, and it can increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories.”

5. She Agility Trains

In her Instagram video, Collier is seen agility training. For an athlete like her, this has a lot of benefits. Ace Fitness states, “SARQ training can help reduce the risk of a number of different types of injuries. Performing the same movement patterns over and over again can lead to tissue fatigue and repetitive stress injury, while quickly changing speed or direction can lead to a strain if the involved tissue is not able to adequately mitigate the applied forces. SARQ training is movement variability training, which is not only effective for strengthening the contractile element of muscle, but also for improving the strength and resiliency of the elastic fascia and connective tissue, thus improving its ability to rapidly lengthen and shorten. This can help minimize the risk of many injuries related to rapid changes of speed or direction.”
