Cheryl Burke In Two-Piece Workout Gear Does “Samba Whisk”

The pro dancer is one of many people to do the social media trend

The samba whisk is one of the hottest social media dances right now. Many professional ballroom dancers have shared videos of themselves doing it, including two-time Dancing With The Stars champ, Cheryl Burke. She posted a video of herself dancing in her home on Instagram, while wearing a brown two-piece set of workout gear. Cheryl also shared another video explaining how you can do the dance. In both videos, her impressive figure was on display. How does Cheryl Burke keep herself in shape? Here are 5 of her wellness secrets.

1

She Boxes

One of Cheryl’s favorite workouts is boxing. “When I’m not dancing, it’s important I stay in shape,” she says to Good Morning America. “For me, because I’ve been so active my whole life. It’s hard for me just to go on a treadmill and run for a few miles. I love boxing because it’s similar to dancing, you have to memorize certain moves … and it’s not just challenging for the body but you have to use your brain as well.”

She’s Not Obsessing Over Her Weight

Cheryl has been open about her past struggles with weight and body image.”It would really affect my mood on a daily basis if I didn’t feel like I was skinny enough,” she says to People. “Just being consistently chastised about my weight, it wasn’t fun. I even used to travel with a scale. That’s how obsessive I was. So it’s just not healthy.” Cheryl also says that she has developed a healthier body image. “For me, it’s all about starting from within first instead of the aesthetic of what I look like from the outside,” she says. “My goal wasn’t to lose a certain amount of weight.”

She Uses A Fitbit App

Cheryl shared some of her favorite workouts in an interview with HollywoodLife. She says that she uses a Fitbit app to help her stay in shape. “I love doing workouts on my mirror and also on my Fitbit app. [I’m] loving my Fitbit because it makes me want to reach my specific goals and it pushes you to do so along the way, all the while tracking my sleep, water intake, and number of steps per day, etc. Each workout is almost 60 minutes long.”

She Works Her Core

Cheryl has an amazing set of abs, and many wonder what her secrets are. She tells HollywoodLife that she makes sure to engage her core no matter what workout she’s doing. “When I workout, I always focus on activating my core,” Cheryl says. “So I’m engaging at all times. No matter if I’m doing yoga or if I’m on the treadmill.”

5

She’s Sober

Cheryl is open about being sober from alcohol. Last year, she shared this post on Instagram celebrating six years of sobriety. Cheryl captioned the post, “Every day I choose not to have a drink is a victory, and I’m immensely grateful for the support from my friends, family, and community. Here’s to six years of strength, resilience, and embracing a life full of purpose and intention. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my transformative journey. 🤍”
