“I met the envy that approaches in the guise with friends,” she wrote on it.

Chiquis Rivera is getting a workout in – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the singer shows off her amazing body while exercising. "Shots before shots," she captioned the Instagram Stories clip. In another clip, she pumps iron. "I met the envy that approaches in the guise with friends," she wrote on it. Chiquis revamped her diet with the help of a nutritionist after years of being ridiculed for her weight. "People would say I was gordita. Yes, I had a little chubby girl in my heart, and she's still with me, but like I always say: 'It's time for [the gordita] to take a break,'" she told People.

Setting Weight Loss Goals

Chiquis sets weight loss goals. "I want to feel better physically, mentally, emotionally," she wrote in a 2019 Instagram post. "But I obviously want to look better. I want to see how much weight I can lose between today and the end of the year. I want to start 2019 right. I want to feel good. I want to look better and feel motivated for the next year. They say how you start something is how you finish, so I want to start the year off right."

Challenges

Another secret to Chiquis' stay-fit success? She challenges herself. In 2018 she did a 21 day keto challenge. "21 days of keto because it takes 21 days to create or break a habit," she shared. "So it's in your hands after 21 days if you want to keep on going and feeling great with this new lifestyle, or go back to your old self."

Keto

Chiquis is such a fan of the keto diet, she even published her own cookbook devoted to it, Chiquis Keto: The 21-Day Starter Kit for Taco, Tortilla, and Tequila Lovers. The book includes lots of latin-inspired dishes that follow the rules of keto, limiting carb consumption to get the body into ketosis.

Hiking

Chiquis is a hiker. "I conquered it!!!!" she captioned the video. "This is the hardest thing I've ever put my mind, body and spirit through. After 23,000 steps, 7.5 miles, 3,200 ft climbed/hiked I felt more than accomplished. I felt relief! Proud! I felt…better. Hiking up was definitely strenuous, but coming down was a challenge in itself. There were times I wanted to quit and turn back, but I wouldn't allow myself to take not even a step backwards. I stayed focused on the task ahead," she wrote in a post. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems
