1. Hiking

In her Instagram stories, Kepple was in Big Bear with friends. The benefits go beyond the physical, as one of the best ways to get a workout in. According to the National Park Service, hiking is great for “building stronger muscles and bones, improving your sense of balance and heart health, decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems,” and more. In addition, mental health can be positively impacted, too. “Being in nature can boost your mood and improve mental health. Spending quality time in the great outdoors reduces stress, calms anxiety, and can lead to a lower risk of depression, according to a study done by researchers at Stanford University.”
2. She gets fresh air

Kepple posted in Alaska on Instagram, traveling and getting some much needed fresh air. According to UC Davis Health, “being outdoors can also have relaxing effects on our minds. Nature can provide a mental break by allowing us to temporarily escape the demands of everyday life. It can also boost your creativity and problem-solving abilities. For example, if you're having a mental block writing a paper or can't seem to solve a problem at work, step outside for a breath of fresh air. Take an easy walk around your neighborhood or office, and you just might find the answers you were looking for.”
3. Spend time on the water

On Instagram, Kepple posted herself enjoying a day out on the boat. According to the Cleveland Clinic, swimming “keeps your heart strong [by] improving cholesterol levels, reducing blood pressure, and lowering your risk of heart disease.” Swimming can also strengthen your lungs, among other incredible benefits, keeping you fit and healthy.
4. She spends time outside with her dog

She gets her dog (and herself) outside. According to News in Health, “interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure. Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support, and boost your mood.”
5. She takes time to unwind

She dives into a good book, taking a break from her phone and other screen time. According to the Mayo Clinic, cutting down on screen time can lead to improved health and potentially “preventing obesity and conditions related to excess weight, freeing more time for exercise and play, increasing your amount of sleep, and reducing mindless snacking which can lead to weight gain.”
