Dani McGinnis is hitting the gym with a pal – in her two-piece workout gear. In a new social media post the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader flaunts her washboard abs wearing a crop top and black leggings as she poses for a mirror selfie with a pal. She shared the image via her Instagram Stories. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
Skiing
Dani recently spent the day on the slopes, her “first time ever skiing” in Washington while home for the holidays. Research has linked downhill skiing to a number of health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress and the occurrence of memory deficits declines.
Coffee
Dani is a coffee drinker. You can find her holding onto a cup (she prefers iced) in many of her videos. According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are several benefits of drinking coffee in moderation. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.
Walking

In another post detailing an average day in her life, she hits the trails in Dallas and goes for an hour-long walk. How much should you walk? A 2018 study published in the journal Obesity found a link between walking 10,000 steps a day and weight loss and weight management. Other studies published by the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) in JAMA Neurology and in JAMA Internal Medicine also linked walking 10,000 steps a day to less dementia and less cardiovascular disease overall, with less heart disease, less heart failure and fewer strokes.
Pilates
Dani does a lot of Pilates. “Planning next week’s format,” she captioned a TikTok video of herself on the Pilates reformer. Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.
Yoga
PilatesDani McGinnis/InstagramDani is also a fan of yoga. In fact, she even goes to a class where there are puppies. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”
