Katrín Davíðsdóttir, a renowned CrossFit athlete, constantly motivates her followers by sharing her fitness journey on Instagram. Recently, she posted a video of herself applying sunscreen before embarking on a run, highlighting the importance of sun protection. In her caption, she expressed her joy about getting back into her training routine: "SO HAPPY to be training consistently again 😭☀️ & soaking in the last of these summer rays! .. with SPF of course 😏 Went for a 4 mile run with Koda this morning 🐾🐺🩶Then this afternoon did 6x600m on the assault runner with 2:00 rest between. Felt like I was running at decent speed today & got a decent volume! AHHHHHH WOW THANKFUL to be moving & sweating in sun ❤️🫶🏼☀️"

1. She Runs

As you can see from the caption of her Instagram post, Davíðsdóttir likes to run to stay in shape. Valley Oaks states that running is very beneficial. “After going for a run, your body experiences a drop in the stress hormone cortisol. This reduction diminishes feelings of stress, allowing you to go about the rest of your day with less tension and anxiety. In addition to mitigating stress, running also invokes feelings of calmness. Following a run, your body releases chemicals called endocannabinoids. These chemicals flow through your bloodstream and into your brain, relaxing your mind and body.”

2. She Uses A Stationary Bike

Davíðsdóttir likes to use a stationary bike to stay in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself riding one in the sun. Davíðsdóttir captioned the post, “Morning ride with my Kodaboy ☀️🐺🥹🫶🏼 It was a leg burner, but got the job done when I didn’t have much time! 1:00 - 2:00 - 3:00 - 4:00: Sitting at a low threshold pace. Standing at a Damper 10 For a total of 20mins! Let me know if you try it. The 3 & 4 minutes start to get reeeeeal spicy on the standing 🌶️🔥😮‍💨” Davíðsdóttir is also seen on a bike in this video.

3. She Surfs

Davíðsdóttir spends a lot of time outside. One thing she enjoys doing is going surfing. She shared some videos of herself riding the waves in this Instagram post. Davíðsdóttir captioned it, “Summer lake nights - there is nothing like it ☀️🧡🏄🏼‍♀️🌊 Got to have my Tori with us this whole week & if you leave the sound on for ANY of the videos you will basically just hear belly laughter 😂🫶🏼🌻 she’s my happy little sunflower. LOVE YOU TOR @toridysonnn.”

4. She Hikes

Another outdoor workout Davíðsdóttir enjoys is going on hikes. She shared this post on Instagram of herself and her boyfriend hiking in Iceland. Davíðsdóttir captioned the post, “My Canadian boyfriend showing me all around Iceland ❤️🌋This was my first time getting to join a @worldplayground experience! My plan was to join much more of the trip, but since I was still only 2 weeks out from my surgery & I wasn’t ready to do hard, long hikes .. BUT this one was relatively light & only 3.2 km each way & I didn’t want to miss out on this experince & holy smokes it didn’t dissapoint (also I was so proud of my back 🥹 it was a big step in my recovery & showing myself what I can do!!!).”

5. She Stretches

Davíðsdóttir shared this video on Instagram of herself doing different stretches in the gym. Harvard Health states that stretching is very beneficial. “Stretching keeps the muscles flexible and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.”

Kara Saunders is putting her health first – in her workout gear. In a new social media post the CrossFit athlete shows off her fit figure in a two-piece exercise set while discussing the importance of prioritizing fitness. “I’ve been all kinds of busy lately and haven’t trained as consistently as usual or with any real purpose. I can confirm that life is definitely easier with more exercise!” she writes in the Instagram caption. “I’ve decided to use the holiday season to prioritise my fitness again. I’m not sure why the norm is to let yourself go and feel like a sad human marshmallow with a stomach ache at Christmas time 🤷🏽♀️ but I do not personally want that for myself. The way I see it, things slow down and there’s a little more time to play with, so why not use that time to get after feeling epic!”How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Warm Water in the Morning

Kara starts the day off by hydrating. “Every single morning, as soon as I wake up I have a glass of warm water. I like to stimulate my system after the rest and digest phase and gradually wake it up for the day,” she told Paleo Hero.

Fruits, Veggies, Meat, and Seafood

Kara Saunders shows a snap of her dinner.

Kara Saunders/Instagram

Kara maintains a clean diet. “I pretty much live on fruit, vegetables, a variety of meat and seafood and then some little snacks here and there. I’m quite relaxed with what I eat and don’t need to be entertained by my food. If it’s healthy, clean and hasn’t been tampered with too much I am happy. When I’m competing, my nutrition might look a little different with oats or something like that added in there, but for the better part every meal (including breakfast) is made up of vegetables and meat,” she says.

Using Food as Medicine

Kara has a holistic approach to diet. “My background is in nutrition, so I use food as my medicine. I genuinely believe in utilizing nutrition to optimize your body’s functions and avoid significant health concerns and/or using medication. I have always lived this way. I purchase a range of proteins, fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds, and I rotate them throughout the week. I eat very simple foods with minimal components in each meal. I don’t think nutrition should be entertainment or torture. I don’t eat much-processed food, usually just on an odd occasion with my husband, and I exclude dairy and eggs from my diet entirely. This is partly due to intolerance and my beliefs about the adverse effects of consuming dairy. This is very personal, and I recommend people research what is right for them,” she told Muscle and Health.

She Also Has a Holistic Approach Health

“I have lived a holistic life for as long as I can remember,” she continued. “When we were sick in my family, we turned to food, sleep, mindfulness and exercise, which is precisely what Ultrahuman embodies in one place. I have created a series for anyone to show up each day and benefit from the movement the way I have for many years. I want to be there to help people live their best days, and I love how Ultrahuman provides all of the resources from each element to complement that.”

4 Hours of Training Per Day

Kara spends a lot of time in the gym. “I usually train twice per day for 2 hours on average per session. This might increase significantly in the competitive season and reduce a little in the off season,” she says. “My week is usually Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday as training days and Thursday as an active recovery day and Sunday as a full day of rest. Throughout the week my training varies to include Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, running, rowing and riding and a lot of skill work within these domains. It's very well balanced and I don’t necessarily do each component every day.”

We are committed to bringing you researched, expert-driven content to help you make more informed decisions around food, health, and wellness. We know how important making choices about your overall health is, and we strive to provide you with the best information possible.

Andrea Nisler, a dedicated CrossFit athlete, motivates her followers with her strength-focused workout routines. Recently, she shared a video on Instagram showcasing a variety of dumbbell exercises, including squats and Romanian deadlifts (RDLs), captioning it, “A good week of lifting - that is all 🙂 Looking forward to continuing to make it the focus this winter. Being strong > cardio (imo).” From lifting heavy to balancing cardio, Nisler demonstrates how to build both strength and endurance for optimal fitness.

She Lifts Weights

As you can see from her Instagram post, Nisler likes to lift weights to keep herself in shape. ACE Fitness states that using weights has a lot of benefits. “Using maximal loads for compound (multi-joint) movements like the deadlift, squat-to-shoulder press, bent-over row or chest press can improve intermuscular coordination, which is the ability of many muscles to work together to generate and control high levels of force through multiple joints. Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

She Does Squats

Nisler is also seen doing squats in her Instagram video. According to Allina Health, squats have a lot of health benefits. “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong.”

She Does RDLs

Nisler is also seen doing RDLs in her Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that the exercise has a lot of benefits. “The Romanian deadlift (RDL) is a traditional barbell lift used to develop the strength of the posterior chain muscles, including the erector spinae, gluteus maximus, hamstrings and adductors. When done correctly, the RDL is an effective exercise that helps strengthen both the core and the lower body with one move. Unlike the traditional barbell deadlift and other quad-dominant exercises such as leg presses, which place significant loads on the anterior portion of the knees, the RDL focuses most of the physical work on the muscles responsible for extending the hip and the knee from the posterior.”

She Uses A Fitness Bike

Nisler likes to use a stationary bike to keep herself in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself riding one at different intervals. Penn State PRO Wellness states that using a stationary bike has a lot of benefits. “Riding a stationary exercise bike is an efficient and effective way to burn calories and body fat while strengthening your heart, lungs, and muscles. Compared to some other types of cardio equipment, a stationary bicycle puts less stress on your joints, but it still provides an excellent aerobic workout.”

She Uses A Treadmill

Nisler also likes to walk on a treadmill to keep herself in shape. She is seen doing so in the beginning of this workout video on her Instagram. Healthy Talbot states, “Treadmills provide outstanding cardiovascular exercises, which can significantly enhance your heart health. Thanks to their ability to maintain constant heart rates throughout the exercise. If you’ve high cholesterol or cardiovascular issues, this can be very beneficial. They can help to diagnose cardiac issues like heart disease and artery blockages. Under normal circumstances, your body may not exhibit symptoms of these heart conditions. However, when put under pressure through a workout, those symptoms will be displayed.”

1. She Does CrossFit

Zummer Pagan.1Zummer Pagan/Instagram

CrossFit is the main way Pagan stays in shape. It has a lot of health benefits. Dignity Health states, “There's a reason CrossFit is so popular: Its workouts do a great job getting people in shape. Participants are drawn to the competitive atmosphere and camaraderie that their box's WODs foster. But CrossFit isn't just for the athletically inclined: People of all fitness levels and walks of life can participate in the training, although some WODs may need to be modified for beginners. Practitioners attribute their fast transformations to CrossFit's high-intensity and continuously changing workouts. Training consists of compound exercises to build cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, speed, and balance while burning more calories per minute than traditional weight-training activities. In addition to body-weight movements, the program utilizes a variety of equipment -- from barbells and medicine balls to jump ropes and elastic bands -- as part of its daily WODs.”

2. She Does Sit-Ups

Pagan shared some of her favorite workouts in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is sit-ups. The Cleveland Clinic reports, “Sit ups are great for tightening your core. They strengthen and tone your rectus abdominus, transverse abdominus and oblique abdominal muscles as well as your neck muscles. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends three sets of 8 to 12 repetitions three times per week.”

3. She Lifts Weights

Pagan likes to lift weights to keep herself in shape. In the previous Instagram video, Pagan is seen lifting a barbell. She is also seen using a barbell in this Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that lifting weights has a lot of benefits. “Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. Penn State PRO Wellness states that using an exercise bike to workout is very beneficial. “Depending on the intensity of your workout and your body weight, you can burn more than 600 calories an hour with a stationary bike workout. This makes indoor cycling an excellent workout option for burning calories quickly.”

5. She’s Comfortable With Herself

Pagan is comfortable with herself and her body. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram video. “Dare to be different and see yourself outside the norm. Although it took me a long time to accept that I look different, I now understand what my body is capable of is awesome and I am grateful everyday for it. Ana Zelu is a professional model and social media influencer. She is known for her content in nature. Zelu recently shared a post on Instagram of herself on a surfboard in the ocean. She captioned it, “Yesterday was such a fun shoot, I just had to share these with you 🤍 🛥️But picture number #4?? That photobomb totally got me 😂 Which picture is your favorite ?🌊”

She Swims

As you can see from her post, Zelu likes to swim. The Mayo Clinic states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is often touted as a great workout for all ages, offering benefits not only for the body, but also for the mind. As a form of exercise, swimming keeps your heart rate up and builds muscle strength. It also can be a great form of stress relief.”

She Doesn't Compare Herself to Others

Zelu shares a lot of her thoughts on Instagram. In this post, she talked about no longer comparing herself to others. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today’s contemplation led me to a profound understanding of the detrimental impact comparison has on our lives. It’s like a silent intruder, subtly creeping into our thoughts and poisoning our perception of ourselves and others. It’s a universal struggle, one that weighs heavily on the hearts of many. I’ve come to realize that comparison is the ultimate thief of joy. It robs us of our ability to appreciate our own journey and achievements, as we constantly measure ourselves against an idealized version of others. I’ve resolved to break free from its grasp. We should choose to celebrate our own unique path, recognizing that each step forward is a triumph in itself. Rather than fixating on external benchmarks set by others, I’m focusing on personal growth and development. Whether it’s through learning new skills, cultivating gratitude, or simply practicing self-compassion, every effort counts.”

She Hikes

Zelu is seen on a hike in the previous Instagram post. Harvard Health states that hiking is very beneficial. “Like brisk walking, hiking is a good way to improve your cardiovascular fitness, particularly if your route includes some hills, which will force your heart to work harder. Taking a hike on the slightly uneven surface of a trail also provides a natural way to engage the core muscles in your torso and to hone your balance skills.”

She’s Resilient

Resilience is another important thing to Zelu. She talked about this in the caption of this Instagram post. “Dear Diary 💭📝, I witnessed something truly remarkable that touched my heart deeply. It’s amazing how people can go through the toughest storms in life and yet remain gentle, patient, and kind. I saw someone who faced challenges that would break most people, yet they chose to respond with grace and humility. Their ability to stay calm and compassionate in the face of adversity is nothing short of admirable. It made me realize the beauty of resilience – the strength to keep going even when life throws its hardest punches. These individuals not only endure the storms but also emerge from them with a spirit that shines brighter than before. Their example reminds me of the power of kindness and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the darkest of times. It’s a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is beauty to be found 💕🫶”

She’s Accepted Herself

Zelu talked about the importance of acceptance in this Instagram post’s caption. “Dear Diary 💭📝, Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but amidst it all, I feel like I’ve taken a step closer to the right direction. Letting go of the past is like shedding a heavy coat I’ve been carrying for far too long. It’s not easy to release the memories, the pain, the regrets, but today, I made a choice to loosen the grip they had on me. It’s like taking a deep breath after being underwater for too long—refreshing and liberating. Forgiving myself has been a journey filled with tears and moments of self-doubt. But today, I finally understood that I deserve the same forgiveness and understanding I give to others. It’s like giving myself a warm hug, wrapping myself in kindness and acceptance.”

Regular exercise and a healthy diet can bring many benefits, including more energy, happiness, health, and even a longer life. It's something we all know but we always make excuses for. So hopefully you can start moving your body little by little and eat a little better and obviously enjoy something delicious on the weekends 😋.”

Allina Health reports that squats are very beneficial to do. “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong. Include squats in your exercise routine two to three days a week to reap the benefits from this dynamite move.”

Viciconte is also seen doing hip thrusts in her Instagram video. Gymless states that the exercise has a lot of health benefits. “Hip thrusts, as a compound movement, aid in increasing lower body strength and power, enhancing athletic abilities such as running, jumping, and powerlifting. By strengthening the posterior chain muscles, you can enhance your posture and lower the risk of back pain and muscle strain. Strong glutes and hamstrings contribute to hip and knee stability, minimizing injury risks in sports and daily life.”

Viciconte is seen using a stationary bike in the previous Instagram video. Doing this can help strengthen your muscles. Penn State PRO Wellness explained, “Riding a stationary bike can help build strength in your legs and lower body, especially if you use a higher resistance. The pedaling action can help strengthen your calves, hamstrings, and quadriceps. Additionally, it can work the muscles in your core, back, and glutes. If you use a bicycle with handles, you’ll also be able to work your upper body muscles, including your biceps, triceps, and shoulders.”

She Runs

Viciconte shared this Instagram video of herself working out. In it, she is seen doing running exercises. Viciconte captioned it, “When we exercise, our body releases endorphin, a natural substance produced by the brain during and after physical activity. The release of endorphin, also known as the 'joy hormone', helps you relax, reduces stress, anxiety and improves your mood. I always say that it's never too late to start moving, so you know that tomorrow you have no excuse 💪🏻”
