Demi Lovato is a successful actress and singer and bonafide icon. She’s best known for her roles on the Disney Channel, like the Camp Rock film series, and the sitcom, Sonny With A Chance. Lovato’s singles include, “Cool For The Summer”, “Confident”, and “Heart Attack.” She shared a photo on her Instagram story of herself in an all black outfit. How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Demi Lovato stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.

1. She Doesn’t Pressure Herself

Lovato tells Cosmopolitan that she doesn’t like to compare herself to others or feel pressure to look a certain way. “I've been on the internet for so long. I just had to realize that the images of people on social media who have the perfect hair, the perfect makeup, the perfect whatever—I just have to look at them and be like, 'Okay, that's great for them.' I have to ask myself like what's great for me and that looks totally different. I'm not going to fit the mold of what other people expect from me. I've never been that way, and I took a lot of pressure off of myself after spending so much time in the public eye and getting those comments that were hateful, and I just decided to take the pressure off myself.”

2. She Takes Care Of Her Skin

Lovato makes sure to take care of her skin. She shared her routine with Cosmopolitan. “Every day I have a diligent skincare routine where I use cleanser and a toner, then a day cream and an eye cream. Then at night, I use the same cleanser, same toner, a serum, a night cream and an eye cream. Twice a week, I also use a peel, a scrub, and a mask. I'm very, very strict [with it].”

3. She Takes Care Of Her Hair

Lovato also shared her haircare secrets with Cosmopolitan. “I use K18, and that's kept my hair really, really healthy. I also love Olaplex for the shampoo, but I am definitely trying to grow it out. I have a few extensions in the front right now, but I'm trying to get it as long as possible. I'll probably use hairpieces day-of, but I'm trying to keep it healthy [until then]. I'm keeping my skin in tip-top shape, and I'm doing the same with my hair. A part of me wants to go red again—like an orangier red—but I might wait until after the wedding.”

4. She Doesn’t Obsess Over Food

Lovato is open about her struggles with body image and an eating disorder. She revealed in this Instagram post that she is working on not obsessing over food and exercise. "I don't count calories anymore. I don't over exercise anymore. I don't restrict or purge. And I especially don't live life accordingly to diet culture.. and I've actually lost weight. This is a different experience, but I feel full. Not of food. But of divine wisdom and cosmic guidance.”

5. She’s All About Self-Care

Demi.LovatoDemi Lovato/Instagram

Lovato shared her favorite self-care practices with Cosmopolitan. “Self-care is really important to me. And it's about taking care of myself. Doing whatever makes me feel the healthiest—whether it's going on a walk or working out or taking a bath, getting a massage, whatever it is that I feel like is going to be the most beneficial to my self-love routine—is what I focus on. I used to be affected by the comments on social media when I was younger, and the way that I've tuned it out is realizing that my joy doesn't come from comments on the internet. It actually comes from real deep and meaningful connections to the people that I love and care about. So I spend more time with them, and I care less about what people say on the internet. I just know that my happiness doesn't stem from outside validation; it really stems from within.”

Demi Lovato is teasing her new track in her swimsuit. In one of her latest social media posts, the singer shows off her beautiful body in a bathing suit, while revealing that one of her new songs is now out. “My track with @le_sserafim “Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard’s wife” is out now,” she captioned the Instagram post. Demi has been very open about her mental and physical health struggles over the years. Here are a few of the ways she approaches health and wellness.

1. She Works Out for Her Mental and Physical Health

Demi-LovatoDemi Lovato/Instagram

While on the road, Demi has “a lot of people visit, which is really grounding for me,” she says. She also exercises, which is great for her body and mind, she says. “And I bring my trainer on the road. We work out and that centers mean mentally and physically. That helps a lot,” she told Vogue.

2. She Is Open About Her Eating Disorder Struggles

Los,Angeles,-,Feb,2:,Demi,Lovato,At,The,StellaShutterstock

“The very first time that I went to treatment was when I was 18,” Lovato told Today in an interview. “I went from my eating disorder, and I went for self-harm and emotional issues.” She added: “When you’re looking at images of people with perfect bodies, you start to look at yourself, and you start to pick yourself apart, and it’s hard to grow up in a world where that’s right in front of your face and at your fingertips at all times, she added. “I grew up in a period of time where young Hollywood was very, very, very thin, and that was the look, and I think that had a really negative impact on my eating just on my mental health, which I think fed into my eating disorder.”

3. She Uses Her Experiences to Help Others

Another,Beautiful,Quote,Of,The,Day.Shutterstock

“I wanted to help others,” Demi explains about why she chooses to be open about her health issues. “I wish that I had somebody when I was 13 years old and having an eating disorder and starving myself. I wanted somebody in the public eye to say that ‘Hey, this is what I’ve gone through, and you don’t have to choose that route.’” She added: "I want them to know that talking to people and asking for help is more than okay and is absolutely what you should do," she said.

4. She Is Okay with Having “Bad Days

Demi,Lovato,Attends,The,World,Premiere,Of,"scream,Vi",AtShutterstock

Demi now has tools to handle hard times. “I don’t want to paint the facade that everything is totally perfect and fine. But I am in a really good place, and it has been kind of challenging to write a happy rock album,” she atold Today. “But I’m doing it! But I have bad days. I had a bad day on Sunday. I realized that even to this day, no matter how happy I might feel and seem. I’m human, and it’s okay to still struggle even when you’re in a great place.”

5. She Suffers From Hearing Impairment and Vision Loss From Her Heroin Overdose

In an interview with Andy Cohen for SiriusXM, Lovato shared that five years after the heroin overdose that almost left her dead, she is still suffering health-wish in the form of hearing loss and vision impairment. “I wouldn’t change my path because I don’t have any regrets. When I think about things, the closest thing that I get to a regret is when I overdosed … that overdose caused me a lot of … it actually caused a disability. I have vision impairment and hearing impairment to this day,” she said. “I don’t drive because I have blind spots in my vision. “It’s a daily constant reminder. You know, anytime I look at something, like, I have blind spots in my vision when I look at your face, and so it’s a constant reminder to stay on the right path because I never want that to happen again.”

1. She Refuses to Let Her Age Define Her

The Fashion Awards 2021 - VIP ArrivalsDave Benett/Getty Images)

Demi is turning 60 in November, but refuses to let her age define her. "It's changing this idea that women become less desirable as we get older," she told People about why she opted to design a swimwear collection with Andie, encouraging older women to wear bikinis and other sexy swimsuits. "We don't want to look matronly or not feel sexy." She added: "Not being defined by a number and instead being defined by my experience. You hit 59 and you're already thinking, 'Well, I'm going to be 60.' It feels very liberating. When I think of my grandmother at 60, she in a way seemed to be already resigned to being old. But I feel, in so many ways, more alive and present than ever."

2. She Used to Obsess About Her Weight

Chloe : Front Row - Paris Fashion Week - Womenswear F/W 2022-2023Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

In her 2019 autobiography, Inside Out, Demi revealed that she used to have an unhealthy relationship with diet and exercise. "I couldn't stop exercising…I would be on display again, and all I could think about was my body, my body, my body…I doubled down on my already over-the-top exercise routine. I cut out carbs, I ran and I biked and I worked out on every machine imaginable," she wrote. However, after G.I. Jane, she shifted her priorirites. "I had reached my limit," she said. 'When I got home to Idaho, I had an epiphany in the shower one day: I just need to be my natural size."

3. She Exercises to Stay Fit and Tone

Demi still works out but focuses on toning her body instead of losing weight, per her trainer, Gregory Joujon-Roche. He told OneBodyOneLife.com, that his client does ab and bicep curls to tone certain areas. "She wants to preserve her arms, stomach, lower body," he revealed.

4. She Works Out Using The Mirror

Moore was one of the first celebrities to endorse the at-home fitness gadget, The Mirror. She has shared videos of herself getting in a workout class via the tool. In this Instagram video, Moore is seen doing planks, plie squats, and stretches.

5. She Strives for Self-Acceptance

Demi focuses on having a healthy relationship with her body, especially as she ages. "I have had a love-hate relationship with my body," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I sit today in a place of greater acceptance of my body. And that includes not just my weight, but all of the things that come with your changing body."

1. She’s Happy to Be Where She Is

Demi's approach to life? "It's about embracing and no longer looking for what's wrong and really being in acceptance of everything. Gravity is going in directions that I'm not so fond of. I can look in the mirror occasionally and say 'you're lying, I don't look like that.' but the reality is the comfort I feel in my skin is the greatest gift. I wouldn't trade it. I'm just happy to be where I am," she told InStyle.

2. She Knows Things Change

Celebration Of Women In Cinema Gala Hosted By The Red Sea Film Festival - The 78th Venice International Film FestivalDaniele Venturelli/Getty Images

“Things do change,” Demi told W Magazine not too long ago. “The biggest difference, I think, is that I’m not in nearly as good shape physically as I have been before, and I have skin going in a direction that I would prefer it not go. There are things that just come with getting older. But I think my big mantra for this year is about acceptance. I was reading this book that was written around 1919, if I am remembering correctly, and it was very of its day. It was discussing all the ‘female’ concerns. There were some horrific suggestions on how to take care of yourself, including putting some kind of acid on your skin. But there was one thing I took away, because I think it’s true—the author said not to frown because at a certain point it will stick. And what speaks to me here is that I do believe that when we hold upset, anger, hurt, pain or bitterness, it ages us and we wear it. That isn’t to say we are always going to feel happy. But it’s important not to hold on to things.”

3. She Was Once a Workout Obsessive

Harper's Bazaar Exhibtion At Musee Des Arts Decoratifs In ParisPascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

When getting ready for certain revealing scenes in movies, “I cut out carbs, I ran, and I biked, and I worked out on every machine imaginable. I didn’t feel like I could stop exercising,” she wrote in her book. “It was my job to fit into that unforgiving military uniform I’d be wearing in two months in A Few Good Men. Getting in shape for that movie launched the obsession with working out that would consume me over the next five years. I never dared let up.”

4. She’s Used the Mirror

Tom Ford AW20 Show - ArrivalsMike Coppola/FilmMagic

Now Demi is more likely to use the Mirror, the workout device that is an actual mirror on your wall, with built-in videos that play on it. "15 min at level 1 that’s doable … right? I am stalling!" Demi wrote once in a post. "This is going to be my next jam. Okay, here I go, wish me luck."

5. She Loves Andie Swimwear

FASHION-FRANCE-WOMEN-FENDISTEPHANE DE SAKUTIN/AFP via Getty Images

"Demi was an early investor," Andie's founder and CEO, Melanie Travis, told InStyle. "We've always talked about what would make sense to do together, and then back in December of 2020 — in anticipation of a successful vaccine rollout and then what would hopefully be a great summer of friends and family, being able to travel, and get together again, across the United States — we felt like this could be the perfect summer to do a campaign together."

Demi Lovato has overcome a lot throughout the years. Not only has she had to do it in the public eye, but the talented actress and singer has overcome an eating disorder, addiction, and health battles. "I was left with brain damage, and I still deal with the effects of that today," she said to Women’s Health. Today, she’s looking happy, healthy, and confident. What’s her secret to living a healthier lifestyle? Here’s a look into some of her healthy habits.

1. She’s worked on her relationship with food

Demi has been incredibly open about her challenge with eating healthy over the years and maintaining a good relationship with food. With the help of professionals, treatment, and a lot of hard work, she has built a healthier relationship with food and continues to grow, trying to maintain a good relationship.

2. She is mentally strong

She’s worked hard to stay in a mentally strong place. “I wouldn’t change my path because I don’t have any regrets,” she said in a 2023 appearance on Andy Cohen’s Sirius XM show. “When I think about things, the closest thing that I get to regret is when I overdosed… that overdose caused me a lot of… it actually caused a disability. I have vision impairment and hearing impairment to this day.”

3. She makes time for exercise

Getting to a mentally and physically strong place can help overcome a lot. It’s been an essential part of what has helped Demi face her addiction issues head on, bringing her past it and continuing to help her maintain her strength and find other outlets for stress relief.

5. She’s overcome addiction

She’s been brutally honest about how much drug use used to be in her daily life, and has come a long way. 5. She’s overcome a lot

She continues to overcome challenges. “It’s a daily constant reminder. You know, anytime I look at something, like, I have blind spots in my vision when I look at your face," Demi told Andy Cohen. "And so it’s a constant reminder to stay on the right path because I never want that to happen again.”

Mariana Morais is showing off her ab-fab figure – in a two-piece exercise set. In a new social media post, the fitness influencer flaunts her fantastic figure in a brown sports bra and leggings. “Self Progress & Development is not always linear. Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Prioritizing Digestion and Getting Blood Work Done

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Pilates

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.

She’s Consistent

Last year, Culpo was preparing for her wedding. She told E! News that she made sure to be consistent with her wellness in order to prepare. “Really trying to dial in [on] what I eat, how I workout, the workouts that I do. Trying to get them in consistently because you only get married once and I want to feel my best. But this past season it was just hard being so far away from my normal routine and where I typically live."

She Keeps Her Skin Healthy While Traveling

Culpo has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it, even while traveling. “I don't wear any makeup when traveling," she says to Travel + Leisure. "That's one rule because I do feel like you will have a higher chance of breaking out if you are wearing a full face of makeup. A few things I always have with me is some sort of a spray. I love Dr. Barbara Sturm or Caudalie or La Mer. I also absolutely love traveling with a makeup wipe, the Neutrogena wipes are great. Something to just take off the sweat you build up.”

She Keeps Her Skincare Simple

Culpo shared her skincare routines with Byrdie. She says that she keeps her morning and night routine simple. “I am always trying out new products, so what I gravitate toward is often changing. At night, I usually use an oil and a serum. Right now, I love the Clarins Double Serum. In the morning, I use a Vitamin C serum and an SPF, and, typically, I just rinse my skin with warm water instead of using a cleanser. It is something I swear by—it allows for the oils on my skin from sleeping to absorb naturally.”

She Uses Products With Vitamins

Culpo shared some of her favorite skincare products with Byrdie. She says that she uses ones that have vitamins in them. “I have noticed a huge difference in my skin with vitamin C and E. I love the Good Janes H2OMyGod Moisturizer—it's sort of an all-in-one moisturizer that has vitamin C and collagen peptides. As for vitamin E, I actually just purchase the oil from the drugstore. It is super cheap and great to put on any red marks I may get from an occasional breakout. The healing process is so much quicker when I am using Vitamin E oil.”

She Packs Healthy Snacks

Culpo makes sure to eat healthy. She shared some of the snacks she packs with her with Travel + Leisure. "I love the Kind bars. I love any sort of nuts, to be honest with you. They are a go-to snack for me. I would say Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% and some almonds would be perfect! Also, electrolytes to stay hydrated or some sort of collagen beauty powder or something."

While it’s not “rocket science,” she does use the MyFitnessPal app to track her eating. “I’m the type of person who likes to eat what I want. The app can help anyone do that—you can still eat great food, you just eat less of it,” she added New Beauty.

Abigail is a fan of Pilates. “Group workout classes are so big right now, but I always get nervous around other people in settings like that. I have to go at my own pace without a bunch of distractions so, for me, Pilates with a one-on-one instructor works best. It’s not cheap, but then you also aren’t tempted to skip,” she said She added to Men’s Fitness via Muscle & Fitness that the workout “keeps you long and lean” — and the Mayo Clinic agrees. They say it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

“I love green juices and smoothies. Sometimes I’ll put some protein powder in the morning—I feel like the mix of vegetables, and vitamins and stuff that’s in them, really gives me a lot of energy in the morning. I love BBQ food—my ultimate cheat is a pulled pork sandwich, sweet potato fries, and macaroni and cheese from this great place in LA,” she told Men’s Fitness.

Strength Training

Ratchford also lifts weights. “Initially, I made the mistake that a lot of girls do and I was only doing cardio. I just really didn’t see too much change in my body. I’ve been listening to my girlfriends who are in great shape and they say you have to do weight training, you have to go in and do squats. That’s my new thing—I’ve been doing some resistance training, circuit training,” she told Men’s Fitness. The Mayo Clinic explains that strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

Develop strong bones

Manage your weight

Enhance your quality of life

Manage chronic conditions

Sharpen your thinking skills
