Demi Moore in Workout Gear Goes Hiking With Rumer Willis

Winter in California is a special time—just ask Demi Moore, who recently hit the Los Angeles hiking trails with cold temperatures and sunny skies. Moore, 61, shared pictures and video of herself hiking in the hills with daughter Rumer Willis and other loved ones, including an adorable little pup that had no issue keeping up with the gang. “Love you mama,” commented Rumer. Moore is rightfully considered an icon these days—here’s how she is thriving in her 60s.

1. Lots of Hiking

Moore is constantly hitting the trails with her friends and family, a workout that not only benefits the body but supports mental health ."The physiological response to being outside in nature is real, and it's measurable," says Michelle Kondo, a research social scientist with the USDA Forest Service's Northern Research Station in an article on their website. "There are many physical and psychological benefits of nature that scientists have observed, which can better help us understand how nature supports wellness in the body, mind and community."

2. Turn That Frown Upside Down

Moore read a book from 1919 which featured some rather suspect beauty advice for women, but says something in the book stuck with her. “There was one thing I took away, because I think it’s true—the author said not to frown because at a certain point it will stick,” she tells W Magazine. “And what speaks to me here is that I do believe that when we hold upset, anger, hurt, pain or bitterness, it ages us and we wear it. That isn’t to say we are always going to feel happy. But it’s important not to hold on to things.”

3. Swinging 60s

Moore found turning 60 to be liberating. "Not being defined by a number and instead being defined by my experience,” she tells PEOPLE. “You hit 59 and you're already thinking, 'Well, I'm going to be 60.' It feels very liberating. When I think of my grandmother at 60, she in a way seemed to be already resigned to being old. But I feel, in so many ways, more alive and present than ever."

4. Beauty From the Inside

Demi.MooreDemi Moore/Instagram

Moore sees facialist and energy healer Terri Lawton in Los Angeles. “It’s kind of a whole mind-body experience,” she tells W Magazine. “I also really respect her opinion on products, because I know it’s very aligned with my view that they have to be active, but really clean… I think my biggest thing is really that less is more, as it’s much easier to keep a routine going if we keep it simple, so it’s doable. Look, I don’t have any super big secret. But I definitely think beauty starts on the inside. You can do anything you want to the outside, but if the inside isn’t looking or feeling good, then I don’t know if anything you do on the outside is going to be good enough.”

5. Acceptance With Aging

Moore is philosophical about the changes that come with aging. “Because you know, things do change,” she tells W Magazine. “The biggest difference, I think, is that I’m not in nearly as good shape physically as I have been before, and I have skin going in a direction that I would prefer it not go. There are things that just come with getting older. But I think my big mantra for this year is about acceptance.”

1. She Refuses to Let Her Age Define Her

The Fashion Awards 2021 - VIP ArrivalsDave Benett/Getty Images)

Demi is turning 60 in November, but refuses to let her age define her. "It's changing this idea that women become less desirable as we get older," she told People about why she opted to design a swimwear collection with Andie, encouraging older women to wear bikinis and other sexy swimsuits. "We don't want to look matronly or not feel sexy." She added: "Not being defined by a number and instead being defined by my experience. You hit 59 and you're already thinking, 'Well, I'm going to be 60.' It feels very liberating. When I think of my grandmother at 60, she in a way seemed to be already resigned to being old. But I feel, in so many ways, more alive and present than ever."

2. She Used to Obsess About Her Weight

Chloe : Front Row - Paris Fashion Week - Womenswear F/W 2022-2023Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

In her 2019 autobiography, Inside Out, Demi revealed that she used to have an unhealthy relationship with diet and exercise. "I couldn't stop exercising…I would be on display again, and all I could think about was my body, my body, my body…I doubled down on my already over-the-top exercise routine. I cut out carbs, I ran and I biked and I worked out on every machine imaginable," she wrote. However, after G.I. Jane, she shifted her priorirites. "I had reached my limit," she said. 'When I got home to Idaho, I had an epiphany in the shower one day: I just need to be my natural size."

3. She Exercises to Stay Fit and Tone

Demi still works out but focuses on toning her body instead of losing weight, per her trainer, Gregory Joujon-Roche. He told OneBodyOneLife.com, that his client does ab and bicep curls to tone certain areas. "She wants to preserve her arms, stomach, lower body," he revealed.

4. She Works Out Using The Mirror

WSJ Magazine 2021 Innovator AwardsTheo Wargo/Getty Images

Moore was one of the first celebrities to endorse the at-home fitness gadget, The Mirror. She has shared videos of herself getting in a workout class via the tool. In this Instagram video, Moore is seen doing planks, plie squats, and stretches.

5. She Strives for Self-Acceptance

Demi focuses on having a healthy relationship with her body, especially as she ages. "I have had a love-hate relationship with my body," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I sit today in a place of greater acceptance of my body. And that includes not just my weight, but all of the things that come with your changing body."

Rumer Willis is celebrating her pal’s birthday in a swimsuit! The 33-year-old daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis steamed up social media this weekend, sharing a tribute to one of her friends while also showing off her fabulous figure. How does the Dancing with the Stars alum keep herself so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Rumer Willis stays in shape and the photos that prove they work—and to get beach-ready yourself, don't miss these essential 30 Best-Ever Celebrity Bathing Suit Photos!

1. Fit Does Not Equal Skinny

“I look at myself and I’m like, ‘I’m fit! I should be able to do this!’,” Rumer told People in 2015 when she was prepping for Dancing with the Stars. “Then I’m like, ‘No you’re not, you’re just skinny. You should be at the gym working your legs and working your abs and your back.'”

2. She Stays Away From Gluten, Dairy, and Red Meat

Los,Angeles,,Ca,-,July,14,,2018:,Rumer,Willis,AtShutterstock

Rumer attributes her fabulous figure to her diet. “I don’t really eat dairy, no gluten, and I don’t really eat red meat,” she told People. “It’s half the reason why I’m in the shape the way I am.” Her diet involves chicken, leafy greens, and avocados.

3. She Has a Few Cheat Foods

Gummy,Bears,CandyShutterstock

“I have a gnarly sweet tooth and I eat a lot of Haribo gummy bears. It’s my thing,” she told People about some of her cheat foods. “French fries are my guilty pleasure,” she added. “I’m such a snob for fries – [I] hunt and search for all the best fries places ever!”

4. She Struggled During the Pandemic

Like many people, Rumer struggled during the pandemic. In an “appreciation post” for her body, Rumer stressed the importance of celebrating ourselves. “Not because we lost weight or we are a certain size or because we have a rare moment when a photo looks “how we think it should to be accepted by mainstream,” she said. She opened up about how the pandemic made it all harder. “My body does so much for me and works so hard for me. But more often than not the only thing it hears it what is wrong with it. What is lacking or what there is too much of. I am a fault of this all too often. Being in quarantine and struggling to find a new routine and not using food to find comfort when you are stuck at home all day is hard. Finding discipline to workout from home and eat healthy is hard and it’s ok not to be perfect, I’m certainly not,” she continued. “What is important is to find ways to be happy where you are at and not make being a perfect size or weight or hair color or body shape some goal that you can only find happiness and acceptance of you reach it. Because you will never be happy if that is the case because there will always be something wrong. When we look in the mirror or at a photo we usually just go to all the things ‘wrong’ not the unique beauty. I had a moment today after I worked out and I took this picture and I tried just for a moment to just see all the amazing things and not my ‘perceived flaws’. I took a moment to acknowledge myself and my body and how much it does and I said thank you for being just as you are and even just for today I release the idea that to be beautiful or desirable you have to be anything other that what you are right now.”

5. Dancing Is Her Favorite Workout

In an interview with E! Online she explained why she likes dancing so much. “I don't like standing on a treadmill," she explained. "I like doing things that actually serve a purpose. To me, running on a treadmill, that seems so monotonous and I'm not working towards anything, so at least when I was dancing, I felt like, I'm doing something that's going to give me something back. It's not just for the sole purpose of trying to make my body look a certain way."

1. She’s Happy to Be Where She Is

Demi's approach to life? "It's about embracing and no longer looking for what's wrong and really being in acceptance of everything. Gravity is going in directions that I'm not so fond of. I can look in the mirror occasionally and say 'you're lying, I don't look like that.' but the reality is the comfort I feel in my skin is the greatest gift. I wouldn't trade it. I'm just happy to be where I am," she told InStyle.

2. She Knows Things Change

Celebration Of Women In Cinema Gala Hosted By The Red Sea Film Festival - The 78th Venice International Film FestivalDaniele Venturelli/Getty Images

“Things do change,” Demi told W Magazine not too long ago. “The biggest difference, I think, is that I’m not in nearly as good shape physically as I have been before, and I have skin going in a direction that I would prefer it not go. There are things that just come with getting older. But I think my big mantra for this year is about acceptance. I was reading this book that was written around 1919, if I am remembering correctly, and it was very of its day. It was discussing all the ‘female’ concerns. There were some horrific suggestions on how to take care of yourself, including putting some kind of acid on your skin. But there was one thing I took away, because I think it’s true—the author said not to frown because at a certain point it will stick. And what speaks to me here is that I do believe that when we hold upset, anger, hurt, pain or bitterness, it ages us and we wear it. That isn’t to say we are always going to feel happy. But it’s important not to hold on to things.”

3. She Was Once a Workout Obsessive

When getting ready for certain revealing scenes in movies, “I cut out carbs, I ran, and I biked, and I worked out on every machine imaginable. I didn’t feel like I could stop exercising,” she wrote in her book. “It was my job to fit into that unforgiving military uniform I’d be wearing in two months in A Few Good Men. Getting in shape for that movie launched the obsession with working out that would consume me over the next five years. I never dared let up.”

4. She’s Used the Mirror

Tom Ford AW20 Show - ArrivalsMike Coppola/FilmMagic

Now Demi is more likely to use the Mirror, the workout device that is an actual mirror on your wall, with built-in videos that play on it. "15 min at level 1 that’s doable … right? I am stalling!" Demi wrote once in a post. "This is going to be my next jam. Okay, here I go, wish me luck."

5. She Loves Andie Swimwear

"Demi was an early investor," Andie's founder and CEO, Melanie Travis, told InStyle. "We've always talked about what would make sense to do together, and then back in December of 2020 — in anticipation of a successful vaccine rollout and then what would hopefully be a great summer of friends and family, being able to travel, and get together again, across the United States — we felt like this could be the perfect summer to do a campaign together."

Danielle Campbell is a versatile and accomplished actress who has captivated audiences with her roles in Disney Channel’s Starstruck, the feature film The Prom, and the popular series The Originals. Currently, she stars in the ABC series, The Rookie. Last month, Campbell delighted her fans by sharing hiking photos on Instagram, captioning them, “Love taking hikes to avoid responsibilities. Highly recommend it.” Wondering how she stays in such great shape? Read on to discover five ways Danielle Campbell keeps fit, along with the photos that showcase her fitness routine.

1. She Hikes

As you can see from her post, Campbell likes to hike to stay in shape. According to Piedmont, hiking has a lot of benefits. “Going up and down hills gets the heart pumping, creating a great cardio workout. Like most cardio exercises, hiking helps reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and even some cancers. Hiking is a weight-bearing exercise, which builds muscle mass and helps prevent osteoporosis. Hiking can help you manage your weight.”

2. She Works Her Legs

In this TikTok, Campbell is seen working out in the gym. She made sure to not skip leg day. Campbell is seen doing leg motions from a plank and donkey kicks. Piedmont reports that lower body workouts are important. “Having strong glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings and calf muscles gives your body a strong foundation and can: Tone your lower body muscles. Boost your metabolism as you increase muscle mass. Give you a higher calorie burn as you train larger muscle groups. Improve your balance. Strengthen your bones. Reduce joint pain. Reduce your risk of injury, particularly in your back and knees.”

3. She Lifts Weights

Attractive,Woman,Doing,Lunge,Exercise,With,Barbell,Load,On,Back,Squat, Squats, weights, weightShutterstock

In the TikTok, Campbell is seen doing deadlifts with two kettlebells. Strength training workouts, like these, have a lot of benefits. The Mayo Clinic reports, “By stressing your bones, strength training can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Strength training can help you manage or lose weight, and it can increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories. Strength training may enhance your quality of life and improve your ability to do everyday activities.”

4. She Bikes

Campbell likes to ride bikes to stay in shape. She shared this photo of herself and a friend riding near the beach. A Healthier Michigan states that biking has a lot of benefits. “All that work your body is doing by pedaling and balancing not only works muscles in your arms and core, but it counts as serious cardio exercise and burns calories with every spin of the wheels. By biking at a moderate pace, about 12 or 13 miles per hour, a person weighing 155 pounds burns nearly 300 calories in 30 minutes, according to statistics shared by Harvard University. Like to pedal faster? A person of that same weight doing a fast pace of 14 or 15 miles per hour burns more than 370 calories in 30 minutes.”

5. She Swims

Campbell is seen swimming in this video she posted on Instagram. Better Health states that swimming has a lot of benefits. “Swimming is a good all-round activity because it: keeps your heart rate up but takes some of the impact stress off your body, builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness, helps you maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart and lungs, tones muscles and builds strength, provides an all-over body workout, as nearly all of your muscles are used during swimming.”

Over the past few years, Sydney Sweeney has become one of America’s sweethearts with celebrated roles in everything from hit HBO shows Euphoria and White Lotus to big-screen movies Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Anyone But You. In addition to her impressive acting ability, the star is a total bombshell and has one of the fittest figures in Hollywood. Here are the top 5 habits that help her stay fit at 27.

Water Skiing

Sydney Sweeney arrives to "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Sometimes we take steps back & that’s just a sign to course correct so we can leap forward. If 2024 wasn’t the year you expected, use it as an opportunity to learn, grow, & carry on. It’s you VS you - continue to try, focus on consistency > perfection & you will prevail 🤎 rooting for us all to strengthen our mind & bodies this year,” she captioned the series of Instagram snaps. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Strength Training

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
