You Don't Need a Royal Budget To Try These Easy Meghan Markle Recipes

From single-skillet spaghetti to salt-baked branzino, here are some of the best 'With Love, Meghan' recipes.
FACT CHECKED BY Alexa Mellardo

Meghan Markle (Meghan, Duchess of Sussex) seems to be living her absolute best life in Montecito—between the flowing wine, a robust garden, chickens, and delicious food. Now, she's sharing her culinary secrets in her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. As the title suggests, the show is nothing but love and authenticity that's as refreshing as it is endearing.

During the wholesome series, the Suits alum invites her friends and a number of chefs to share tips on hosting and cooking, with a few crafts sprinkled into the mix. Meghan has a genuine and charming quality about her that makes her culinary endeavors a joy to watch—even for people who avoid the kitchen like the plague.

In episode six of With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex said, "I love feeding people. I think it's probably my love language." She added, "The only thing better than eating food is making food for someone and watching them eat it with delight."

Those sentiments are palpable during every dish and smile she shares with friends like Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer.

It's frustrating when chefs don't walk viewers through each step of replicating a delectable dish, but Meghan guides her viewers at every turn. The best part? Most are simple enough for even the worst cook to manage. Between single-skillet spaghetti and salt-baked branzino, here are the easiest Meghan Markle recipes from With Love, Meghan.

1. "Hello, Honey!"—Single-Skillet Spaghetti

Netflix

For anyone living in the New York City area, like Meghan's friend Daniel Martin, her single-skillet spaghetti recipe is a total game-changer.

Copycat Ingredients:

  • Dry pasta
  • Yellow and cherry tomatoes
  • Kettle of water
  • Salt
  • Olive oil
  • Basil
  • Parmesan
  • Finishing salt
  • Kale
  • Arugula
  • Garlic
  • Lemon
  • Red chili flakes

Directions:

Meghan explained to Daniel that you prepare single-skillet pasta in one pan like a frittata. This allows the starch to stay in the pan, giving it a creamy consistency without using actual cream.

  1. Chop the yellow and cherry tomatoes in half.
  2. Boil a kettle of water.
  3. Add the tomatoes to the skillet and turn the burner on.
  4. Sprinkle in the salt and drizzle olive oil over it.
  5. Chip some garlic and add it to the mix.
  6. Add the dry pasta to the skillet before mixing in a generous amount of lemon zest.
  7. Pour the boiled water on top so the noodles are slightly covered.
  8. Let it all come to a boil, and place the lid on top of the skillet. Six minutes should do the trick. You'll notice that the moisture starts to evaporate as it boils, but it keeps the starchy texture.
  9. Choose any chopped-up greens you want to include; Meghan opted for chard, kale, and arugula.
  10. Add grated Parmesan and chili flakes before cooking the mixture for another 3-4 minutes without the lid until it's al dente.
  11. For plating, add a little sauce to the bowl before scooping out the spaghetti. For extra flavor, add basil, more Parmesan, and finishing salt.

2. "Welcome to the Party"—Frittata

Netflix

Before Mindy Kaling joined the party, Meghan cooked her a frittata to enjoy for breakfast ahead of their party-planning adventure.

Copycat Ingredients:

  • 8 to 12 eggs
  • Cream or milk
  • Pepper
  • Onions, peppers, and zucchini (or substitute with your favorite veggies)
  • Tomatoes on the vine
  • Red peppers
  • Salt
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Arugula
  • Chèvre cheese

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350.
  2. Meghan prepared a large pan of frittata, which requires ~8-12 eggs. Break them into a bowl and add the cream or milk.
  3. After sprinkling in some pepper, give the mixture a whisk.
  4. Chop the onions, peppers, and zucchini.
  5. Toss the vegetables into the skillet with some olive oil. Let it simmer down on the stove.
  6. Once the veggies soften, add in the egg and cream mixture.
  7. Add marinated red peppers into the mix.
  8. To top off the frittata, sprinkle in some everything bagel seasoning, coarsely chopped up arugula, and chèvre cheese.
  9. After letting it set a bit on the stovetop, put it in the oven to bake for ~15-20 mins.

While it's not necessary for the frittata itself, Meghan slow-roasted tomatoes on the vine after adding some salt. She let them cook alongside the main dish. The Duchess of Sussex also sizzled up some bacon to go along with the meal before garnishing the dish with flower sprinkles for some purely decorative color.

  5. Meghan added a flavored ingredient that appears to be the honey harvested from the first episode, but vanilla also works.
  6. Mix the flour and the wet ingredients, which you'll then add to a Ziplock bag.
  7. Cut a triangle off one end of the Ziplock, and pipe the mix into a six-cavity donut mold.
  8. Pop it in the oven for ~10 minutes.

Meghan's Tips and Tricks in the Kitchen

Sun Tea

Another quick drink tip Meghan shared was her sun tea recipe, complete with dried hibiscus leaves. It's just what it sounds like: tea steeped in the sun!

To prepare her sun tea, Meghan put looseleaf tea into a silk tea bag. She added some dehydrated Myer lemon. The Duchess of Sussex also stressed the importance of using filtered water that she poured into a large mason jar.

The tea steeped with the heat of the sun for about two to three hours.

Homemade Dog Treats

Of course, Meghan couldn't forget the dog biscuits—because fluffy friends deserve all the treats, too.

First, Meghan measured 1/4 cup of oat flour, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, and 3/4 cup of whole-wheat flour. In another bowl, she combined the egg, 1/4 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1/2 cup xylitol-free, dog-friendly peanut butter. She then blended the dry and wet ingredients and mixed well until dough formed. Once the dough was rolled out, Meghan used an adorable dog bone cookie cutter, placed the treats onto a parchment-lined tray, and popped them into the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
