Ellie Goulding is fighting for her body – in her workout clothes. In a new social media post the singer shows off her amazing body in boxing shorts and a tank during a grueling boxing workout with her trainer. “You just know a lot of men have tested me 💝,” she jokes in the comments section of the Instagram post. How does the singer approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

1. HIIT Workouts

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is one of Ellie’s go-to methods. “I’ll run to Faisal’s class (at Barry’s Bootcamp) in the morning. It’s only about 25 minutes from home and it gets my heart rate up enough to go in and be ready because it’s quite tough,” she told Women’s Health UK. “I’m more of a burst girl than sustained. I like it when the treadmills on dynamic and I do sprints. I prefer using my own body as weight, so press-ups, mountain climbers and burpees.” There is lots of research backing up the benefits of HIIT workouts, including body fat reduction, improved cardiovascular function, and mental health. It is also time effective.

3. Low Carb Diet

Ellie doesn’t eat carbs. "I can't remember the last time I ate bread either, honestly," she confessed to Jessie Ware on her Table Manners podcast. "When I eat carbs - it's not just a vanity thing - I genuinely don't feel great when I have them. I feel like I'm someone who's naturally quite active. When I have big bowls of pasta and things like that I do feel like I've eaten a blanket or something really heavy."

4. Mostly Plant-Based Diet

Ellie tries to avoid animal products. "I eat a lot of things for their nutritional value. The things I love for my taste are sweet things," she said on the podcast. While she does consume some dairy now, she still doesn’t eat red meat. "I'm all about dairy….I'm not mad about coconut yogurt and all those dairy-free alternatives,” she added. "In the morning, I'll have a messy bowl which is yogurt with lots of goji berries and nuts and I love prunes and dates."

5. Fasting

Intermittent,Fastin,Concept,-,Empty,Plate,On,Blue,BackgroundShutterstock

Ellie is a fan of fasting. “I built my way up to 40-hour fasts over time (started with 12),” Ellie told The Mirror. “It helps blood sugar control and helps fight inflammation – the mother of ALL health problems.” She says she does it “very safely by having a purposefully nutritious food day the day before and after,” she added. “On the fast day, I drink high-grade electrolytes and a LOT of water,” plus tea and coffee. “Fasting is safe and beneficial unless you are diabetic or have serious health issues,” she continued, claiming it helps give her “digestive system a break.”

6. Sleep

Ellie understands the importance of rest. “Sleep is crucial too. Lots of sleep,” she writes in the post. She also revealed that she takes “magnesium before bed.” What are the health benefits of sleep? According to the Sleep Foundation, getting enough z’s is a mood booster, promotes heart health, regulates blood sugar, improves mental function, restores your immune system, helps relieve stress, and aids in weight loss.

Whether she’s doing jump squats, kettlebell swings, or perfecting her jab, she balances her workouts with activities like swimming to stay energized. Her dedication to fitness and passion for sharing her journey inspire her followers to push their limits and embrace an active lifestyle.

1. She Circuit Trains

As you can see from her post, Mathie likes to circuit train to keep herself in shape. She wrote in the caption, “No rest between exercises, rest at the end of each circuit. Reps to failure. Listen with audio for motivation 😉 Try it today or save it for later!”

2. She Strength Trains

Mathie likes to strength train to keep herself in shape. In her Instagram video, she is seen doing things like medicine ball slams, kettlebell swings, and weighted sled exercises. The Mayo Clinic states that strength training is very beneficial. “Strength training can help you manage or lose weight, and it can increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories.”

3. She Does Squats

Avril Mathie.3Avril Mathie/Instagram

Mathie is seen doing squat jumps in her Instagram video. Squats of all kinds have a lot of health benefits. Allina Health reports, “The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong.”

4. She Boxes

Boxing is obviously one of the things that Mathie does to keep herself in shape. She shares a lot of videos on Instagram of herself doing drills. Mathie shared this video of herself using a punching bag, captioning it, “How it feels to return to hard training after a summer of frolicking around europe 😫” She also shared this video of herself doing jabs, captioning it, “I like my jab to be as unpredictable as my travel plans😂👊🏽Did I miss any? 🥊Go check out my boxing workout app (link in bio) for a full breakdown on how to throw every punch 💪🏽”

5. She Swims

Mathie likes to swim to keep herself in shape. She shares a lot of posts on Instagram of herself in the water. In this highlight reel of one of her vacations, Mathie is seen enjoying time by the pool, and even does a backflip into it. British singer Ellie Goulding entered 2024 fighting fit and ready for action. Goulding, 37, shared a video of herself sparring with trainer Ruth Raper, dressed in black Adidas shorts and a black tank top for her boxing workout. “No cap. Thank you @ruth_london_90 🤙🏼🙃,” she captioned the post. “Well done girl,” Raper commented. Goulding’s relationship with wellness has changed over the years—here’s how she stays fit, happy, and full of energy.

1. Exercise and Smoothies

Goulding starts her day with a good workout before making a green smoothie. “My morning routine will be some kind of workout, whether it’s Barry’s [Bootcamp], yoga, or even a run outside,” she told The Cut. “I go between New York and London so there’s always interesting runs to do. At the moment I’m loving running to Goldie’s I Adore You. I’m such a big fan of old-school U.K. drum and bass. I usually use the Apple/Nike watch to track my runs. I’ll shove a bunch of things in a NutriBullet — kale, cucumber, water. I try and have a smoothie every day, it’s really filling with protein powder. I love using Vega, because it is vegan and tastes fantastic, and maca powder. Spirulina doesn’t taste great but can easily be masked by a banana and some almond butter.”

2. Aspiring Vegan

Baked,Sweet,Potato,Wedges,Salad,With,Cucumber,,Avocado,And,CreamyShutterstock

Goulding calls herself an “aspiring vegan”. “It’s challenging, but not impossible,” she told Shape. “You just have to eat or drink a lot of greens. I make green juice for myself almost every day. I put in things like bananas, avocado, spinach, broccoli, whatever's in my fridge, really. Sweet-potato fries and salad are my absolute favorites. They make the perfect meal. I eat a lot of quinoa and nuts, too, but I also love eating chips. It’s actually easy to be a bad vegan because a lot of junk foods are vegan!”

3. Yoga and Treadmill Workouts

Goulding loves both low-intensity and high-energy workouts. “There is a brilliant online yoga school called YogaGlo. For a monthly subscription you can take any class and you can choose the difficulty level and the duration. It’s perfect for someone always on the move,” she told The Cut. “Barry’s is so good. Especially if you start on the treadmill you have no choice but to get right into it. Your heart rate is up within a couple of minutes. Once your heart rate is up, it’s natural to be in the zone. I think if your heart rate is up, it’s connected to your brain in an animalistic sense — your brain is telling you that you’re ready to fight, you’re ready to go.”

4. Fitness Tips

Goulding knows when her body needs more rest and recovery. “[I] slowed down to the extent that I sometimes ‘did nothing’, which also included reading a book (which is of course ‘doing something’, but you get my point!),” she wrote in her book Fitter. Calmer. Stronger. “If I was feeling stressed, I would swap a run for a gentle yoga session. If I felt overwhelmed, I would go for a gentle jog in a park, focusing on breathing and keeping my pace slow. Only when I felt well rested, had eaten properly and felt like I had the necessary reserves of energy would I allow myself to go all out with a fast run or HIIT session.”

5. Loving Fitness Again

Goulding went from overexercising to developing a more kind and nurturing relationship with fitness. “It was obvious from looking around that it was possible to have a healthy relationship with diet and fitness, and in fact these things could underpin a happy and productive life,” she wrote in her book Fitter. Calmer. Stronger. “As I began to slow down, even occasionally doing nothing (a state which I now cherish), I became determined that I would find a way of balancing all of this so that healthy living was truly healthy and where my physical and mental health could support my life without completely defining it.”

Over the past few years, Sydney Sweeney has become one of America’s sweethearts with celebrated roles in everything from hit HBO shows Euphoria and White Lotus to big-screen movies Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Anyone But You. In addition to her impressive acting ability, the star is a total bombshell and has one of the fittest figures in Hollywood. Here are the top 5 habits that help her stay fit at 27.

Water Skiing

Sydney Sweeney arrives to "The Road to the Golden Globes Party"

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Morning Workouts

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:

  • Building stronger muscles and bones
  • Improving your sense of balance
  • Improving your heart health
  • Decreasing the risk of some respiratory issues

Mariana does reformer Pilates. “POV: Stepping into the prettiest torture chamber,” she wrote across a video of herself at the studio. Why is Pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic, the workout has many benefits, as it “strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility, resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, stress and back pain relief, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Emsculpt NEO

Mariana recently got an aesthetic body treatment, Emsculpt NEO. “I’ve heard all the rage about the benefits to spot reducing fat & toning muscle so I had to give it a try to target those pesky lower abs. It was a 10/10 & a great addition to my workout routine,” she wrote.
