In a new social media post the fitness influencer flaunts her famously fit figure, modeling styles from the collection she designed that are on sale now. “I love you,” commented a follower, while another added, “so beautifulllllllll.” How does the 27-year-old keep her body so fit? Celebwell rounded up her top health and fitness habits.


1. Weight Lifting

Sommer started lifting weights when she was 14 and even competed in bodybuilding competitions at 16. According to the star, "it’s a whole different world where many girls are on steroids, and I didn’t want to do that to my body," she told Cosmopolitan about her decision to quit competing.

2. Self-Love

"If there’s something not permanent on my face like a zit, I’ll smooth it," Sommer told Cosmopolitan about her stance on Photoshop. "If I take a photo at a bad angle, I just won't post it. I don't Photoshop my body because it would feel like a false advertisement."

3. Daily Exercise

If you want a body like Sommer’s, consistency is key. She works out five times a week for up to 90 minutes, spending an entire two days on her lower body. "If my glutes are sore, I tell myself, 'I probably shouldn't work them today,' " she explained. "I just listen to my body." She also tries to maintain variety with workouts. "There’s not a certain exercise or specific workout that’s beneficial," she says. "I switch it up every day and try to make it fun, because as soon as it feels like a job, you don’t want to do it."

Ray understands the importance of consuming enough protein. She makes sure to get 70 grams of protein per day to keep her glutes built and maintain muscle mass. She starts the day with a protein shake, and then eats five more small but protein-packed meals throughout the day, she told Cosmo. Grilled chicken, veggies and steamed white rice is one of her go-to meals. Starchy veggies and whole grains fulfill her carb requirements.

5. Cheat Meals

Sommer allows herself to cheat a little on the weekends. "If I want a slice of pizza, I have a slice of pizza. I want to look good, but I also want to enjoy life," she explained. She added to Luxury Lifestyle Magazine that she can’t say no to a weekly burger. “Ooh, easy. In-n-out. I probably go once a week,” she said when asked what her favorite restaurant was.

7. Self-Care

Sommer’s daily self-care? “Baths lol, I love baths with Epsom salts and lavender essential oil. It's really the most relaxing thing for me. It's my therapy, I can sit in there for hours,” she told Paper. Baths have been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression. 1. She’s Into Fitness Because It’s a Family Thing

When asked about body building, Sommer said: “I started when I was around 16. I grew up with it. My dad's a bodybuilder. My mom is a competitor. So actually my first show I ever did was with my mom. So yeah, started when I was 16.” She likes sharing tips online because “I love just being on there because I wanna like show girls that you can post what you want and do what you want and just embrace being you and being beautiful. Because we're all beautiful and unique in our way,” she told CTV.

2. Sometimes She Has Down Days

“I don't work out every single day. Like obviously I'm not a crazy person, but yeah. Sometimes I have days where I'm even like a bad mood and I'm down on myself. Like with things like that, people don't understand. It's like, everyone's human. I have days where I wake up and I feel disgusting and fat. And I'm like, Ew at myself, you know, I look at me, I'm like, disgusting. So we're–as girls, we just like have this, and every girl's the same. Like, it doesn't matter. [Even] the most beautiful girl in the world. Trust me. They wake up and they hate themselves some days too. It's just like life as a girl….So I have days where I'm very unmotivated and I think my body sucks … But I fight through it,” she told the Off the Pill podcast.

“How I find my motivation is, I don't look for motivation." She says it's not "Like, oh, I wanna get in shape for this pool party. Oh, I wanna get in shape, cuz I'm going on vacation. Because when that is over, you're gonna forget about working out and you don't care about working out anymore. You have to do it for a real reason that's not going to go away,” she told Off the Pill.

“I eat in moderation,” she said. “That's my thing. There's balance. Like I'm not just gonna eat cheeseburgers every day. Come Friday I'm gonna have a cheeseburger and then I'm gonna have salad. It's called balance.” As for working out: “I try to work out every day. I mean, I used to be really, really consistent, but like I'm so busy now that it's like, sometimes I get off track, but yeah. I mean, I eat what I want, but the I'm also blessed with a good metabolism because I can really eat what I want and I burn it off really quick,” she told Off the Pill.

The “best business advice is to do what you're passionate about. Because I feel like business, too, can just be doing what you love. And I feel like the most success comes from doing what you love and doing business and what you love. 1. Lots of Protein

Ray keeps her protein intake high to fuel her workouts. “I try to eat 70 grams of protein a day to maintain my glute muscle mass by starting most mornings with a protein shake, my first of six small meals throughout the day,” she says. “Sometimes I'll prepare grilled chicken, veggies and steamed white rice for each of these meals, but more often I'll eat out. I love In-and-Out Burger! I take my burger without the bun. Then I get my starch later from starchy veggies and whole grains.”

2. Working On Her Glutes

Ray works out five times a week for 90 minutes at a time. Two of those workout sessions are focused on her glutes. "If my glutes are sore, I tell myself, 'I probably shouldn't work them today,'" she says. "I just listen to my body. There’s not a certain exercise or specific workout that’s beneficial. I switch it up every day and try to make it fun, because as soon as it feels like a job, you don’t want to do it."

3. Healthy Habits

Ray doesn’t believe in working out for short-term benefits, instead emphasizing how important it is to have a healthy lifestyle. “I feel that people lose motivation when they get motivated for the wrong reasons,” she says. “Girls may want to workout for that summer bod, or after going through a bad breakup. But I always make sure my motivation comes from the intent of my wanting to better myself.”

Ray says she only competes with herself these days. “I started competing in the NPC [National Physique Committee] when I was 16 years old,” she says. “I stood next to girls in their 20s/30s and was being compared to them, yet nothing was comparable—we were simply at different stages of life (muscle doesn’t mature until you’re in your 20s). So believe me, I know what that feeling is like. But honestly, I never compared myself, so it didn’t matter that the judges did. I was confident in the hard work and the dedication I put in for myself. So at the end of the day, I know myself and I’m content in the woman I am. And when you are, you are incomparable. My only competition is myself and wanting to better myself everyday.”

5. Relaxing on the Weekends

Ray works hard and knows how important it is to relax and reset. “On the weekends, and on some weekdays, too, I also like to have a drink — typically, tequila — and whatever else I'm craving,” she says. “If I want a slice of pizza, I have a slice of pizza. I want to look good, but I also want to enjoy life.”

Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

One of the ways she treats her anxiety is by spending time outdoors with her dog, Tank. She takes him on walks or hikes. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia, and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Other healthy habits? “Prioritizing digestion,” she writes in the same post. “Making sure I get enough fiber & starting off every morning with a juice cleanse. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely! Don’t skip the doc apts, always better to be preventative.”

Hiking

Mariana enjoys hiking. “Elevation therapy,” she captioned a post from one of her fitness adventures. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:
