She says that she worked with a trainer to not only help her get in shape, but to also help her learn how to do things correctly. "When I first started working out with my new trainer, he was like ‘show me how you do a squat’, so I did, and he said ‘yeah, that’s not gonna do anything’. I think it’s important to learn how to do things properly. I’ve been doing squats and all sorts with a trainer before, and I’ve never realised that I’ve been doing them wrong. I could’ve done 100 squats the wrong way and been like ‘yeah, it aches a bit’. Where as I can do five with this trainer and be in agony. I would say to learn how to do the moves properly, it makes a big difference."

Bridge makes sure to eat healthy, and shared some of her favorite meals with Cosmopolitan. "I’m quite a boring eater. I go through phases. I’ve got an obsession with granola and yoghurt with raspberries and blueberries so I’ll have that in the morning with a cup of tea. For lunch, I’ll have salad with tuna, and then for dinner I’ll have brown rice and quinoa and some sort of fish or meat, and some kale. I’m obsessed with kale."

One thing Bridge does to stay in shape is weight train. “Up until the new year, I was doing pilates and boxing throughout the week, whereas now I’ve started weight training,” she told Cosmopolitan. “A lot of people I knew did it and I’ve heard a lot about it burning fat and being good for toning, so I’ve started doing that with a new trainer. I really like it. My bum and my legs just weren’t changing before I started weight training, but now I have noticed a difference [from squatting with free weights] quite quickly."

4. She Indulges Once In A While

While Bridge eats healthy, she also doesn’t like to restrict herself too much. "I try to stick to having a ‘cheat day’,” she told Cosmopolitan. I believe in them. I don’t think you should restrict yourself completely. It’s hard at social stuff, but that’s where you have to be flexible. Don’t set yourself a specific cheat day if your plans for the week don’t fit in with it. If you know you’re going out for dinner one night, that can be your cheat evening, and then try and be good the rest of the week."

5. She Loves Hot Yoga

After Love Island, Higgins had a lot of opportunities. However, she tells The Independent that she learned that she had to take a break. “It was Michael Barrymore who gave me the advice. I was training for Dancing On Ice and he is a really, really lovely man. He knew by me that I was going through a bit of a time of it. I remember him saying to me, ‘You need to take a break because if these brands and everyone really do want you then they will wait for you.’ So I took his advice and it’s the best thing I ever did. And I would give the same advice to all the new Love Islanders.”

2. She’s Comfortable With Herself

Higgins tells The Independent that she has become a lot more comfortable with herself. “I am finally content. I am finally back to myself. Actually Mammy said it to me. It was about a year after Love Island, and I remember we had a FaceTime call, which we do every single day, and she started crying. And I said, ‘What’s happening? What’s wrong?’ And she said, ‘This is the first time I’ve seen you back to yourself.’”

She says that she struggled with the emotions, and turned to fellow contestant, Ellie Brown, for support. “Coming off, there was the added pressures of Love Island, then the pressure of everything at home, so I went into a really dark place. Like, December, January, I was really sad. Nobody knew this, this weren’t in the press, this has never even been spoken about. My family knew, my friends knew, and that was it. So, coming off the show, at first I did regret it. I was like, ‘What have I done?’ Another thing was, if I hadn’t gone on the show I would have gotten to say goodbye. So many things were going through my head, I was like, ‘What have I done? I’ve ruined my own life. I weren’t there to say goodbye to my grandma’. It was a really difficult thing to deal with, but then come February, I met Ellie and Ellie was like, ‘I went through the same thing a few years ago’ and you start realising it’s normal.

2. She’s Grateful

In her podcast, Bedford revealed that she has new-found gratitude for her time on Love Island. "I wouldn't even go to the shop. Not saying I'm this massive famous person, but I was struggling. But I've gone on to have literally the best year of my life. We've had an absolute ball. Now I can really look back on the show and say 'thank you for doing that' and I don't regret it. It was the best thing that could have ever happened to me and my family."

3. She Eats Healthy

In this video on her YouTube channel, Bedford opened up about her diet and what she eats each day. She says that she makes sure to eat healthy, and has some secrets for doing so. One of them is tracking her food each day. “I do use MyFitness Pal to track all my food. Then it’s just easy. I can work out.”

Bedford spends a lot of time outside. One thing she likes to do is swim. She shares a bunch of posts on Instagram of herself by the water. Bedford shared this photo of herself walking in the ocean. Sydney has been water skiing since she was a toddler. “The moment I could walk, my mom put me on what’s called a U-board to learn how to ski,” she told Women’s Health. “I remember that whenever we would go by the docks of my grandma’s or my cousin’s house, I’d wave. I felt so cool because I could take off one hand. That’s my earliest memory of skiing, but I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. It’s my favorite.” How does it help her achieve her amazing body? “It’s a lot of upper body strength, it’s balance, it’s core, it’s legs—you get tired really fast,” she says. “I see such a change in my body after an entire summer of [skiing]. My arms are stronger, more sculpted. My abs are rock solid. But I never look at it as a workout because it is so much fun,” she said.

Sydney mixes up her exercise routine, but likes to get workouts over with early in the day. “I like to work out in the morning, so I’ll either go for a run or I’ll go to Solidcore,” says Sydney. The high-intensity, low-impact Pilates-inspired workout “makes me feel so strong, but also elongated,” Sydney said about her sweat sessions. “I feel so good afterwards.”

Self-Care

Sydney engages in self-care activities. “I love to paint, and I love to read,” she said. “Those are the activities that are just for me.” One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years than those who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

She Walks and Hikes

Mariana relies on old-school strength training to keep her body toned. “Training till failure instead of reps + taking my ab routine up a notch by incorporating weighted exercises,” she wrote about one of her workout tactics. “I can feel my muscles being challenged and am in tune with my movements.” According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. This has helped me feel so much better everyday.” She also gets regular blood work done. “So important to check your levels and know what’s going on in your body routinely!
