Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman, both literally and figuratively. The actress portrayed the titular superhero in the 2017 film Wonder Woman, yes — but she's also a mom of four, a successful actress in many other roles, and a model. It's no secret she's in phenomenal shape, and it's all thanks to her dedicated diet and workout regimen.

So, how does Gal Gadot keep in tip-top shape as she prepares to turn 40? Let's take a closer look at how she fuels her body and works up a sweat.

She Follows the Mediterranean Diet

"Since I'm from the Middle East, I'm very much all about the Mediterranean Diet," Gal told Good Housekeeping. "I look at food as fuel, and I want to give the best to my body so I try to eat healthy on most days."

As part of the Mediterranean Diet, Gadot makes sure to also have staples like Greek yogurt, oat milk, fruits, vegetables, olive oil, and vinegar on hand in her kitchen.

For breakfast, her go-to is two eggs, toast, and a fresh salad. Lunchtime typically features lean protein, plenty of vegetables, and a complex carb. And for dinner, Gal Gadot sticks mostly with protein and vegetables.

"I'm also big on salad with delicious dressings," she told the publication. "The ones I make are either based with olive oil or Greek yogurt with lots of herbs and spices for a delicious kick."

She Aims for Balance by Not Eliminating Foods Entirely

Although Gal is mindful of what she puts into her body and generally adheres to the Mediterranean Diet, she doesn't cut out any foods completely. The Snow White actress instead focuses on portion control so she can occasionally enjoy what she pleases. It's all about balance.

"I try to eat healthy yet balanced. I don't like to deprive myself of anything. I believe in balance in everything, by the way," she told Good Housekeeping. "I love to cook, and I've always been a foodie."

She Doesn't Skimp on Strength Exercises

Celebrity personal trainer Magnus Lygdbäck chatted with The Hollywood Reporter about the workout routine he designed for Gal. When she portrayed Wonder Woman, he had her in the gym doing strength training five days per week for one hour each day.

"Leg press, front dumbbell squats, skaters and skate jumps," he told the publication, noting that skate jumps are "such a good one because it recruits fast-twitch muscle fibers and works all three of the glute muscles." Additionally, Gal Galdot incorporated "pull-ups, lateral raises and a ton of core work."

She Also Includes HIIT in Her Fitness Routine

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) was another staple for Gal Gadot when building her Wonder Woman physique. This usually happened three days per week either on a treadmill or assault bike, followed by some core exercises, Lygdbäck told Women's Health.

A sample leg day workout the trainer shared with Women's Health actually started with treadmill sprinting at an all-out pace for 30 seconds and then walking for 30 seconds. (Repeated three times.) After that, the actress moved into three rounds of resistance training, which included sets of goblet squats, walking lunges, curtsey lunges, and banded lateral walks. She finished by training her core with reps of skaters and hollow body holds—also repeated for three rounds!

Whew! Gal Gadot truly is a living, breathing Wonder Woman.
