Supermodel Gisele Bündchen is sharing her approach to stress-busting, and it’s deeply rooted in the power of movement. Bündchen, 43, posted a picture of herself doing yoga in different workout gear, including one beautiful green outfit that matched the lush background. “Managing stress is part of life and while we can’t always control our circumstances, we can choose how we respond to them and try to find healthy ways to deal with it,” she captioned the post. Here’s what Bündchen’s approach to health, fitness, and beauty looks like in her 40s.
1. How She Works Out
Bündchen’s workouts consist of yoga, weight lifting, jiu-jitsu, horseback riding, running, and taking long walks with her dog. She wakes up at 5 a.m. every morning to get started with her exercise. “Moving is just part of my every day,” she tells Women's Health. “Walking is underestimated… I always want to make sure that every day, I'm doing something in nature. Because I'm very intense and I go hard, the rest is extremely important.”
2. Skincare and Diet
Bündchen is more proactive about skin health and appearance as she gets older. “I’m like, ‘Okay let me remove my makeup,'” she tells Grazia. “I feel like the eyes are the window of the soul. I’m more aware of it than ever. I always say let thy food be your medicine because I also think food is very important. If you eat a bunch of greasy food, it’s going be hard to have really good skin. The more you eat your vegetables, that’s going to reflect in your skin.”
3. Water and Vegetables
Bündchen believes you are what you eat. “It is very important to drink plenty of water and eat food that comes from the earth, like fruits and vegetables, rather than processed food,” she tells Vogue France. “All of this is reflected directly on the skin. Water is your best ally to have beautiful skin, so you need to drink plenty of it. I also rely on electrolytes, which help better absorb water and increase hydration tenfold. I take a drink with a lemon flavor which is a very good bonus. Rest is also essential since a lack of sleep is marked immediately on the features of the face.”
4. Beauty Is Not Skin Deep
Bündchen takes time every night for gratitude and self-reflection. “It is very important to put on your moisturizer at night so that the skin has time to absorb it,” she tells Vogue France. “Even more essential: surrounding yourself with positive thoughts, having constructive conversations, reading and watching inspiring things... Because beauty is not limited to what you put on the surface of the skin, but also what you decide to bring to your body and your mind. And then there is love, the love that we have for ourselves and for others.
5. Wisdom With Age
Bündchen is fully embracing her 40s. “With age comes wisdom, don’t you feel that?” she tells Grazia. “I feel better at 40 than I felt at 30, I can tell you that much. I think the 40s are going to be awesome. The 20s were a little challenging, I’m not going to lie. The 30s, I was getting a grip on stuff. Now the 40s I’m like, ‘Let’s go!'”
